  • The National Institute of Forest Science (NIFoS) - Republic of Korea, in collaboration with CIFOR-ICRAF, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and Udayana University, organized the "Beyond Green Carbon: 3rd International Symposium" titled "Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation with Mangrove Ecosystems - Introducing Mangrove Ecosystem Strategies to the Climate Change Agenda" on 29 April 2024, in Bogor, Indonesia.
The symposium aimed to highlight the crucial ecological and climate roles of mangrove and semi-mangrove ecosystems. Focusing on East Asia, the research aimed to explore the carbon-sequestration potential of these species. Key discussions included nursery and propagation strategies suitable for local climates, methods to enhance carbon absorption in coastal areas, and effective management practices for maintaining these ecosystems.
