Hi all, I realize the video was 3 years ago, but I just came across it today. In my humble opinion, I think the desk looks really good. It's organized in a way that works for you Fred. That's the beauty of ham radio. We create things that work for us even if we can find commercially made things. Nice job Fred, I hope it's working well for you. Stay safe everyone Best 73's de KB3KGA
@@CB-RADIO-UK that's very cool. I'm redoing my shack and will use a more suitable desk for my station. Nothing like your console though. Just enough to have a decent basic station. Keep up the good videos. Stay safe one and all.
I like it. I've a Kenwood TS-2000 which works fine only on HF-FM but all mode from 6m-up, plus a Pro3, AL-80A, Drake L4B, a scanner, Marine rig, etc., and I find this video inspirational. Appears so clean & professional, I've gotta do it!
Fred, my wood working skills are even less than rubbish. I think you did very well on your shack desk. Degrees better than what you had. If I had mad that desk, I would be bragging and showing it off. So, well done, enjoyed the video. I'll be watching for you.
looks good Fred. Well done! I've been thinking of doing something similar for years but haven't had the time. Hopefully one day I will get to it.Hope to catch y'all on the band some day. Cheers!
I think you did a brilliant job on that radio desk. I took the firestik upgrade off and put the original top back better receive and less noisy. I actually heard you today but very faint so not enough for me to converse, I still need to either put the A99 higher or I am thinking of getting a max 2000 which is 24ft. 73's Alan from Kent "kt2644.
fredintheshed1 yes I heard him loud and clear and you in the background I hope I can get my setup a bit better than hopefully talk to you on the air. 73's Alan kt2644.
Very nice indeed mate, your are a pro in woodwork compared to my woodwork skills hihiI liked those handles in particular to make it look like the 19 inch type racksthanks for sharing, regards George
Hi ya Fred I’ve got a 450D which is frustrating. I setup 2 frequencies in the memory and now on one of those I’m getting m-01-01 where it was VFO A. I don’t know what I’ve done any ideas?
I just followed the instructions Dave. You have dual VFO A & B. If you get too lost you can reset and start from scratch. I rem it took ages dialing in the mem channel numbers UK 1-40 etc. rather like programming an 80's video recorder.
Ive only had to do the programming once. The next thing is the fact the radio tunes .20 Mhz and not .25 Mhz which you need for the FM 40. Someone did find a way of fixing that but i just use .20 which works ok on FM.
Great job Fred. I highly recommend fredintheshed2. It is an awesome channel by an awesome guy. Drop by and subscribe. Thanks for all the great videos Fred.
You are too modest fella. Great radio console.

I tell you if i could make it then anyone else could LOL

Came out quite well for cheap ply wood.
Excellent work, all neat and tidy. I would say do not decry your wood working skills. You have made a nice job of this fit out.
Cheers :-)
For someone who has poor wood working skills, you did a very nice job my friend, a lot better than I could do for sure!
Thanks Bobby. Its far from perfect but very usable.
looks great Fred
Thanks

Thanks very much for the information. But the 80s is not easy to remember either. It’s a long time ago but I’ll get it I suppose.

What is your arrangement concerning antennas with these boxes? All go to how many antennas? Do you use some sort of antenna switcher board?
Yes i have a antenna switch for the 2 HF radio's. The SW radio has a slinky long wire and the scanner a disclone antenna.
fredintheshed1 Thanks Fred! I have to solder some switch sollution too also. Cheers!
Did you ever find the shoe racks could not support the weight
If you mean the old set up i braced the racking at the back with cross sections.
fred it looks grate you. Done a good job there mate this sumer I'm going to be making my home shack desk so watch out bnq marks comming
Nice one Mark. Its not too hard once you get started.
