Awesome you are in VA. I am looking to get started in the carpet cleaning business but couldn't figure out certification as it appears in person calls are primarily in Jersey.
U can buy a Van and truck mounted machine for 5k in California all day long. Ready turn key. Even Rx20 and tile scrubbers and wonds. And upholstery tools. I operated and owned a Company for year's. Everyone is selling companies here. Just no profit in that business anymore. Too many people charging to less to do jobs here. And alot of houses have went hardwood flooring
Almost all my business is state buildings. Closed door policy means truck mounts can't be used. I've talked to them until I'm blue in the face about how much better job I could do if they allowed exceptions to use truck mounts for the carpet cleaning a couple times a year per building, but made no difference. I'm stuck using a portable for the foreseeable future.
Rob thank you sir. Funny that Rob is also the owner of our shop... He is a very helping personality like yourself.

Business is booming after Covid, and I have work more than what i can handle
You’re in California… no shit you can’t make money
Cali is quite a craphole lol .
Would it be wise to put a new truckmount on a older model van? 07 chevy express with 100k miles on a replaced motor.
It won’t hurt anything. I’d suggest it be a 2500 or 3500 payload tho. It would also need to be a slide in not a direct drive.
