I was super excited to learn how to a grout a floor like this and share the process with you! I love the look of reclaimed tile and wanted to give the kitchen a bit of an old world feel (almost as if it was pulled out of Spain). What are your thoughts on the flooring?

Thanks so much for watching and I hope you enjoyed. Leave any future video ideas you would like to see in the comments below and don't forget to subscribe!
Oh honey, your commitment to do the right job on your home just shines through. No cutting corners, removing and starting over if needed. Not afraid to take on something new. You are simply infectious and I love it!
Hi Drew. Just for future reference. My husband is a contractor and when he installs the same tiles as you did, he always first puts a coat of sealer on the tiles prior to grouting. Then after grouting, he'll put a final coat of sealer on everything. You'll find it's much easier to clean the tiles of the grout haze as it can't absorb into the tiles. They also sell a grout haze remover. Everything is looking beyond amazing. Can't wait till you move in and we see what more you do.
I seriously love the organic look you’ve achieved by not using tile spacers. It’s giving tryna lug your suitcase over European cobblestone 😂
💯
🤣 Most perfect description ever!
“There are no mistakes, just happy accidents.” 😌The grout turned out amazing!!!❤
Justin is such a gem, so glad he's there with you. HI JUSTIN👋 The tiles are looking amazing, you did so well for a first timer, so proud of you Drew!
HES THE BEST
@@lonefox We know💙
I agree I think Justin is a great addition to the team.
The grout bag is a genius idea. Much easier and neater clean up. One suggestion, go to a sporting goods store or a thrift store and buy a pair of knee pads. Your knees will thank you as you get older. I learned to use my kids old sports knee pads. Great for gardening too. Love the floor.
Came onto the comments to see if anyone else was loving Justin’s addition. Drew: is this how I’m supposed to do it? Justin: nope, but never mind 😄
It's so refreshing to watch such a productive content creator... Literally nothing is an issue for you, you just get on with what needs to be done and if needed you just "shift your vibes" (BTW great merch idea... I'd wear that on a hoodie)
Ohhhh that is a good one!
It’s the new “good vibes only” trend hahaha ❤
Drew I like it too
Can we all appreciate how Justin is such a gem 😭🥹
That's what I think aswell.
It looks so harmonious how they work together.
Having a team partner is gold..
I think it is so beautiful how you put so much thoughtfulness and consideration into every detail you incorporate into your home. That is how we should all be when creating a living space. I love it. ❤️
Drew, the kitchen floor was extremely labor intensive I really hope you love it, because I think you guys did a wonderful job.
What I love in these Lone Fox videos is the daring and acceptance of things perhaps going awry. Thinking that a project must be perfect can make me procrastinate and perhaps not even undertake some jobs. These videos have pushed me to start (and complete) some DIY projects I have long wanted to do. Thank you.
Ah, yes. The Perfectionism Paradox, frequently aided by Analysis Paralysis. I suffer, too.
Agree!
Agree!! Loving the attitude as much as the incredibly beautiful style! 😍😍😍
@@monstermcboo7282 Ha! I just keep adding new diagnoses to the list. Hadn't heard of the second until a few months ago but the hundreds of open tabs on my PC are evidence of that one😯 Hope you learn to work around yours and find some way to inspire yourself and create some wonderful things😃
Drew, I swear you are FEARLESS! And with a friend like Justin by your side, the two of you I believe could accomplish just about anything! Thanks for sharing the triumphs (and a few “lessons learned”) with us. Watching this house become your home is truly one of the best things RUclips has ever brought my way! May your new home be blessed with light, love and lots of laughter!
It is sweet when you reference your family, including your grandfather.
I can hardly believe you tackled this job yourself with no experience yet such a stunning result. I get so excited each time an episode comes up. Wishing you a successful and uncomplicated move.
AHH Thank you so so so much!
Perfect timing. Just got all cosy in bed and then you posted this video 😌.
Jjjj so do I
Ditto and i also had soup ready 💖😊🥰
@@stinehansen191 Ooh enjoy, making me jealous 🥲
It’s refreshing in that you are willing to share your mistakes so others can learn. I think the floor looks fantastic!
I came on to say the same thing!
I would put the seall over the brick to be Little shine and eazy to clean up.
The tiles came out beautifully !!! I love how calm you are. It's a pleasure watching all that you do.
You have to be one of the most talented designers.
On most shows i can remember the “Designer” having a whole team paint, build, install their plans.
In this case you do it all from A-Z !
I’m positive it’s challenging, but you make it seem easy; you explain every detail !
Your previous apartments were perfect but this home is on a whole other level 🎉 Congratulations X a Billion to you !
He hired many people. But yes he does much more than those designers 🎉
@@mermaiddiyartist8119 -- he has done most work on his apartments and a lot of the kitchen work alone.
Not demolition obviously.
I totally agree, Drew makes it possible.
Drew- You work SO hard! …And…you are so lucky to have close friends who will work right along beside you.
Both you and McKenna are moving out of your apartments finally and into your beautiful homes! How funny that you’re both doing things at the same time!
I adore every aspect of that kitchen…just stunning!!!!
I follow them both and noticed the same thing! It's been fun to watch their journey
The magic of RUclips is discovering content you never expected. These creators inspire and amuse. We have been joining in on your journey and enjoying every step of the way. People like you in a strange way almost become a second family and we could not be prouder of what you are accomplishing at such a young age. Best of everything going forward.
I didn't know there were so many color choices in tile grout. Lesson learned! The toe-kick trim is perfection.
Congratulations on this kitchen reno. Just beautiful. Do you need to seal/polyurethane? the toe kick because with future mopping/washing your floors the water from that will affect the toe kick/wood?
This looks SO SO SO good! And I am so happy that you are always clear where you screw something up lol. It's so human and way more relatable than people who like to pretend that everything always goes according to plan! Because we all make mistakes with DIY projects and it's nice to see others do as well
Drew, there’s just so much to admire about you. You’re like the perfect combination of great taste and great technique. You have to be up there for being one of the best designers of our generation! Your hard work, passion and focus are incredibly inspiring to me (and everyone else I am sure!)
Gur Fateh, bhen Ji :-)
How is it that I always find your choice of materials rather questionable, but you always manage to design the most beautiful rooms with them? I guess its because you are a real pro! love your videos!🥰
Your kitchen is just WOW! It looks so beautiful and I really appreciate that you also share your mistakes and happy accidents with us. We are all learning together.
How cool that both you and @XOMaCenna are moving into your dream homes around the same time! So happy for you both!
Drew, I would suggest putting down floor protection boards so you could protect your wood floors while doing renovations. They sell them at Home Depot or Lowe’s. The floors look amazing!
An easy save for flooring while doing construction project is just cover with cardboard sheets - can get larger 3x4 shetts. Or use the construction ' heavy craft' paper on roll ( ream ) - but the REAL TRADE SECRET is to clean up every day - yes last hour is clean -up ( sweep floor and shop vac for corners etc) - IF REALLLY DUSTY project then seal off room with hanging plastic sheets- that way rest of house 'saved'
Yes , floors must be protected always during remodeling . I used : Ram Board
38 in. W x 100 ft. L Heavy Duty Temporary Floor Protection . In some rooms I laid plastic over it and attached it with tape ( if water any liquid was involved in others projects ). Or just plastic without heavy paper. Anyway, floor was protected during the whole renovation process. Plus less cleaning.
Your floor molding in the kitchen is to die for! No one but you would have thought of this.
When you get old you’re going to look back at these videos and say, “damn, I did that”. 😊. So proud of all of your hard work.
I never want your posts to stop you make me so happy when you post them with inspiration or just watching the colours and the textures been mixed together blending so well
It's so amazing to see what you get when leaning towards the history of your home rather than just decorating 'your style'. Finding a happy medium gives it so much uniqueness and character. Maybe it's just me but I'm bored out of my mind with farmhouse everywhere.
Me too! And in a few years it will be out of trend and dated, and they will be really tired of it. Makes me think of the early American era.
I absolutely love the floor. I think that it turned out better by not cleaning the tiles beforehand.
Seeing your imagination come true is incredibly beautiful. You get so much beauty out of something simple and you choose every detail with love. I can see your joy in everything you do, so I always look forward to your videos! ❤️
Thank you so much Kaya!
Oh Drew - the floor is stunning!!! I am so excited for you to actually move in and can hardly wait for all your future videos showing the progress of your restoration/renovation. You do amazing work Drew ....YOU are amazing!!
With light grout, make sure you always vaccuum your floor before mopping, otherwise you make mud out of any muck that is on there and once your grout gets stained by that, you’ll need a professional to come in and steam clean it or you would have to regrout. It’s so beautiful! Great job, Drew ❤
Wow, wow, wow!! Each project is more amazing than the last. Your attention to detail and willingness to tackle these big projects is so admirable. I cannot wait to continue following your journey after you move in…and beyond! Thank you for bringing all of us so much joy!
The floors are timelessly beautiful, and the toe kick is perfectly paired with the floor ♡
The flower bottoms are such a nice detail ☺️
WOW! When you washed the wood floor and could see the 2 floors together....just WOW!
Looks fantastic.
That is a brilliant grouting technique.
Your eye detail is nothing short of amazing. Your house is slowly but surely becoming a home. It’s going to be gorgeous! All your hard work is paying off. Can’t wait until you get all moved in to see all the content you’ll be putting out.
Awww Drew congratulations!!!
#1 at hand I left you a comment on mcKenna’s new home tour video🏡
#2 love love love the kitchen!!❤ so gorgeous 🌿
We are all so proud of how far you have come as a RUclips content provider!!
I was just telling my wife about you and where are you started and where you are with your channel and content .
It’s not always EZ but you did it !! Just look back and pat your self on the back.
PS Justin is a great as we can all see 😊
Thank heavens for friendship.
I can’t wait to how things go on your journey!!!
Cheers🥂
As a mom I have to say, Drew, your mom should be so proud of you! You have immense talent and your new home is coming along beautifully!! I’m so glad I found you to follow.
I am SOOOO PROUD. He's done it all on his own. Self taught himself most everything from RUclips since he was ten! He doesn't get his talent from me not lol. Lol😂. Thanks for watching and I'll tell him what you said 😉Drew's MOM

I like the lighter grout look. I think it goes with your tiles look and size. The darker looks heavier and you have that contrast in the cabinets. The light color still has enough contrast. I like to have levels in my colors, no gingerbread house outlines so I think this is perfect. Like the way a carpet compliments but has its own self to be proud of.
I've learned so much watching you DIY all these things. I'm so happy you'll finally get to move into your amazing home and fix it up the way you want it. Thanks for taking us all along on this journey.
Thank you for taking the time to explain the process. Your videos have always been incredibly helpful and a wonderful source of inspiration. Thank you for doing what you do ❤️
Man, I'm delighted to see you experiencing the fun behind the tiring and lengthy process of furnishing a home. You got yourself a new subscriber!
Congratulations Drew! It looks so great! And I think the lighter grout actually makes the tile have a little more color impact.💖
Your kitchen and dining area are so beautiful! The floor turned out perfect.
First I have to say you are bless to have a friend like Justin at your side on this journey - you both did such a great job on the kitchen floor- I love how the grout turned out - it’s exciting to see you go through this journey- Drew you are so talented & you always have inspiring content- also want to say hi to Justin
Drew, your house is coming together beautifully. You should be so proud. 🥰
Drew the tile looks amazing and the molding beautiful. I'm so happy for you Drew, your house is coming along beautifully.
I LOVE how the floor turned out Drew! What a good friend Justin is to help you like he does, that's great! For never laying tile, you both did a great job! Your kitchen is stunning! So happy you're moving this Saturday!!!❤
I am LITERALLY tearing up!!!!!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY. STUN-NING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The cabinets, the base trim detail, the floors, "gasping" SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing your journey! So much blood, sweat & tears in this utterly AMAZING Home!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your attention to detail always amazes me. I love that this is a labor of love for you and that you leave nothing unturned. I also love that you keep your “oopies” in the video! It make it so relatable. Can’t wait to see the entire house complete!!!
I'm so ready to keep following this journey, the floor and those toe kicks are so beautiful!
I love that you kept the original layout of the kitchen. It looks beautiful
I’m obsessed with the toe kick… is that weird? what a great detail for your Spanish home.
I just love your positive attitude, and the giddy excitement you have when things come together. You are precious, and I love watching your remodel your home!🥰
Genuinely excited for the next chapters in your Home Creation Story.
This really is superb content that should be on a cable network, Magnolia or HGTV something like that. From the Apartment redo to securing the house to now.
❄️The tile and the grout looks beautiful you guys did a wonderful job on that.
I just love that you just do it! You don’t even read instructions on the grout bag , you are a pro !
The floor looks amazing!! Drew you have such a good eye for color and design!! You are amazing!!
Congrats Drew🎉 Love the toe kick😊
Yay 🎊 🎉 the molding is just beautiful, the floor wow!
Beautiful! You are so good at what you do! Your talent is so endless! I love that tile and grout! I didn't know you could seal the tile and the grout with the same product. I used a narrow paintbrush and painted the grout with sealer back in my first home. ~ This kitchen reminds me of the kitchen I almost had. My son stole my money, cancelled all my installations, cancelled my granite countertops, and spent the money on himself. I have a nothing for a kitchen, and will never have one. I can't recover from this. I even cancelled my cruise I had pending at the time. My beautiful new cabinets are in the basement. So now I am forever broken thanks to my own son.
It is such a pleasure to watch you and your whole process. I love your positive attitude, tenacity, enthusiasm, willingness to just jump in and try, esthetic talent, and wonderful energy. Thank you for taking us on your journey. You and your friends are a delight to watch and learn from 🙏🏻.

I had tumbled travertine in my former home, and I never ever tired of looking at it! Your floors are equally gorgeous. I’m sure you’ll never tire of them, they’ll always be a star!
Floors are amazing! Justin is a good helper and an added joy to watch ! I'm drooling to see you unpack and decorate this house!
The colour on both the grout and tiles when sealed them was incredible!!! Job well done Drew. And Justin too. 😁 each layer of your design that unfolds is such a fun experience. Love the way you kept it real, admitting your mistakes, and fixing stuff as you went (like the tile mortar). 👍
I'm sure I've said it before but you are just amazing, doesn't matter if you feel you did something different to your original idea you just keep on chugging. I love that about you, also having Justin there for every step of all your different home renos is such a blessing. Just have to say how can we not have a soft spot for him. Can't wait to see the overall renovation and the furnishings you chose for the house. Yes can't wait for you to move in!! 👏🏽👏🏽
You have done an amazing job the kitchen floor looks gorgeous. Good luck with the move xx
Fabulous job gentlemen! Has been an interesting journey with you, one where I am surprised by my own reactions through this process and so often relieved that your choices were so correct all along the way. It is so helpful to see and hear your decision process as make them. Looking forward as always to the next adventure with you!
A fabric store is the most magical place on earth. So much potential. So many possibilities. The floor looks great. Appreciate the tutorial on the grout bag. Thanks.
So obsessed with the fabric store, I was loving all your choices. I could see your vision, European Spanish, old world but modern. Just worldly and rich, this is my dream! I'm living vicariously through you.
Your floor looks gorgeous! I can’t wait to see the dining room completed! ❤
Can't wait for that big table to be moved into this Home as it's perfect for it and what a find it was but moving it now that's going to be Hard for Surely you will need some strong men to Help You Drew 💝
I'm genuinely happy for you, Drew! So proud of everything you've accomplished, the hard and great work you've done. Props to you!
Sealing tiles before grouting helps a lot. Grout and tile will retain their individual beauty. Gorgeous floor. You’ll love this for years to come.
Oh my goodness!!! A cabinet depth refrigerator!!! I am so glad you decided on this option, even though they’re typically a bit more expensive. I follow and watch so many people that never use these and have a big fat fridge sticking out of all their nice work they just constructed and/or designed. Great choice!
Gorgeous 🤍
It's looking lovely Drew, love the light grout! 😍
Can't believe you have never done any of this laying tile, grouting. It turned out so good!!!! You are very talented; but most important, patient. Looks great.
So glad you kept the grout the lighter color. Definitely agree with you about the darker color. Made it look like the floor was dirty.
The pieces for the toe kicks…chefs kiss!! Stunning!!!!
Old world, familiar and timeless. The dark floral baseboards are perfection! It would be amazing to see them throughout the breakfast room. Mad props to you and your teamwork with Justin! ❤️🔥💋🤌
❤❤❤ Love how it turned out! Also on another note....The Copper Tub 😬
Omg I forgot about her…
I feel like the grout will darken back up over time with distress and use and it will look natural again. I don’t think you were ever going to get it perfect. It still looks great! Love it Drew the kitchen is a dream.
Watching how much hard work this takes helps me understand the cost of a professional tile job
That carved molding was the perfect touch. This kitchen is amazing. I can't wait for the move-in video.
My god, that floor! Worth every ounce of sweat and blood expended to bring it into being. Absolutely perfect. ❤️
The Indian floral toe kicks are such a beautiful detail! Everything is coming together so nicely.
I think the grout colour is receding and allows the tiles to stand out. After all, the tiles are the feature! As for you, Drew, at the fabric store…you are always in rapturous stages of joy! Adorable to listen to. 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ
I live in a new build apartment and am definitely not going to be tiling the floors, nor is this my style so I’m not watching this for any kind of practical tips or inspiration… but one thing I admire about you as an interior designer Drew is you always pull it together and make a beautiful cohesive whole, and even when I’ve doubted some of the ingredients, the final result is an impressive manifestation of your vision!
I’m not even 8 mins in to watching this (I’ve saved up and am now binging on your remodelling playlist!), and the actual reason I paused to leave a comment was to say how your approach to all of this is really impressing me! I’m a details person (sometimes to the point where I struggle to figure out the big picture), and your diligence and patience to think of (and then enact!) all the small ways in which you want to personalise your home and make it match up to your vision in an authentic way, even if some of those things might go unnoticed to others (though in a way that might just give a more fully rounded and subtle polish to the finished space, rather than being something where people literally can’t even tell the difference… hopefully I’m making the point I intended to here!) is just… *chefs kiss* 😍 And I super admire your eagerness to try out new things and learn new skills, when all of this stuff can sometimes be so intimidating to tackle! 💪👏 It’s really inspiring, and I want to take a little piece of What Would Drew Do and What Would MaCenna Do (and how they would do it!) outside of RUclips and try to incorporate some of that energy in to how I approach my own life 🫶🏻
(Now I’m going to get back to watching!) 🧡
I know the grout turned out lighter than you wanted, but omg it looks so good!! Personally I like this better. Sometimes our mistakes can accidentally lead to better results. 😍
Just a tip when mixing grout with a drill paddle, it creates air bubbles in the mix, which in turn can weaken the grout and it can crack or become loose, just let it sit for a little before using (obvs not too long so it dries) or mix with a trowel for no air ❤ p.s I’ve watched your vids for a couple years now since lockdown and you’re just a gift! You inspire me so much not to just renovate or redecorate but to make my house a home and that is priceless. So, thank you Drew ❤❤
Drew I wish you posted these videos like two or three days a week 🥹 they make me so happy and excitedddd😆
WOW WOW WOW!!!!! It is looking so amazing. I can't believe the wood you chose for the toe kick. So gorgeous & what a focal point it makes from the other room. Nothing ordinary for Drew. It's your forever home & I love the way you take your time & pick out each special detail.
I can't wait till you move in & there is some furniture. I wish I could live there, but I'm very happy in my home.
Every time I watch I am more amazed by your decorating talent.
Thanks to Justin & all his help. I'm sure you appreciate him fir all his help & with helping with decisions. BTW...love the fabric for the couch, wise choice
That grout was a happy mistake it's perfect, and what I was envisioning it would look like!!! I love everything you do!
I love the baseboard. It's not the usual boring plain kind. Definitely adds some beauty to what you've done.
The kitchen floor of my dreams! ❤
What fun you and McCenna moving into your new LA houses at the same time....a feast for us subscribers xxx
