I sort of made this! I made it in the instant pot but I used thick cut organic oats and I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk and frozen sliced up cherries I put in the freezer last summer. I cooked it on low pressure for about 4 minutes. It was FANTASTIC! My daughter did put a tiny bit of Agave on it but I didn't think it was needed at all. VERY good!! I told you I'm now making a lot of your recipes! Thank you!
Hoovesandpaws61 I LOVE IT! I'm thinking I better stay on the ball in the kitchen with the camera rolling. I don't want you to run out of recipes to try from my channel. ;D
Simple Daily Recipes Girl I can see you in the kitchen right now just chopping and prepping and veggies flying with the pressure cooker going full steam (Get it? Full steam! LOL). :)
This is great! I go to free food places and I always get oatmeal, and dried cherries and cranberries, and raisins. I have some dried up dates that would be perfect too. I love the apples in this. Yummy! My daughter will be loving this!!
connie connie I LOVE graham crackers! I can't wait to show you the pineapple oatmeal. OH. MY. WORD! I'm waiting right now for it to cool down so I can scoop it out in a mouthwatering fashion for the video.
I've eaten 3 bowls this evening. After it cooled completely, it took on the looks and mouth feel of bread pudding. I'm an uber picky bread pudding fan. This recipe is going down as my new favorite way to eat oatmeal.
Golden raisins are treated with sulfur dioxide. That is why they are golden. I'm really sensitive to sulfur so that is how I know. Just thought you might be interested in why they are golden. It looks yummy. I'm gonna try it.
I had no idea, Heather. THANK YOU for sharing. (I'm going to show my ignorance, I thought they were a lighter grape variety.) Is sulfur dioxide really bad for us? say no, I really only like golden raisins. What is that dried fruits are treated with to keep them from molding during the dehydrating process?
Try the pears, Bunny! We're not pear fans at this house. You're going to have to let me know how they work out. I would love to read what you come up with. ;D
Me, too. Please let know how it turns out. Just the other day, C. HP asked, "How many hours would it be safe to leave it on Low? Has someone already left it overnight?" I didn't have an answer for C. HP. You've got to come back and tell us. ;D
THANK YOU for sharing, Mel. That's good information to have on hand. And I'm so glad the food tasted great and wasn't ruined. So are you enjoying the recipe for breakfast or dessert?
I have made a recipe very similar to this one and cooked it overnight on low but used steel cut oats and it was great. I actually prefer steel cut oats to rolled oats but would never take the time to actually cook them on the stovetop, I've only done them overnight in the slow cooker!
Thank you for sharing, Jennifer. I've only used rolled oats for the "quick" version (on high/4 hours). I'd like to cook this overnight using steel cut oats. It seems the steel cuts oats would hold up better. The next version oatmeal flavor I'm planning is Banana Pudding trimmed out with either blueberries or strawberries. Which berry do you think would look prettier?
Oh my gosh, this lady makes me laugh. So nice to see someone enjoying life. I love these videos and can't wait to make this oatmeal. I have the best brownies in the oven now. ;)
okay first timer here using a slow cooker :) I sort of changed the recipe a bit to just apples, cinnamon, oats, craisins, and i used vanilla almond milk instead and just eyed my amounts of everything. I hope it turns out good!
it turned out great!! i changed the recipe because I had to improvise what I had in my house :b ..i think I just made too much for just me but hey left overs are good! haha Thank you for commenting back! :)
PurdyGirl0991 OH I'm so glad to hear that! The recipe certainly is a lot for one person. The last version I made, Upside Pineapple, I ended up being the only one enjoying it. But hey, I learned it keeps up to a full week in the fridge. ;D My next one to try will have peaches and sweetened vanilla almond milk, and maybe the rest of those frozen sweet cherries. And pecans, I lurv pecans and peaches together. Can you think of any fruit combos I should try next?
Oh yess I must try the upside down pineapple. I love pineapple! Its good to know it keeps good for a long time :D the next one sounds awesome. I have lots of oats in my cupboard to use upp. What would be really awesome is some strawberries and blueberries orr maybe some bananas!
PurdyGirl0991 Some one else mentioned adding bananas. It's a great idea. I keep wondering if they'll discolor, like they do, and turn the oatmeal a unappetizing color. OH SNAP! My brain just flashed on "Banana Pudding Oatmeal" trimmed with blueberries and strawberries for added color. What do you think? Too much dessert for breakfast? I wouldn't make it unnaturally sweet, just enough to keep it fun but still uber healthy.
Thank you, Shelly, for prompting me to add slow cooking to Simple Daily Recipes. I can only hope all my slow cooker recipes turn out as awesome as this one.
Hmmm, Was just about to head down the block for an apple to make this when I realized I had half cup of oatmeal in my morning smoothie. I wonder how this would work with something else. The only other thing I can think of is Quinoa. Do you have any other suggestions that might work well here??
Looks soooo good!! I bet it smells awesome. I don't like raisins though and not crazy about dates and never buy them....could I use honey and omit the raisins and dates ? :)
I made this today! Omg! It was wonderful!! I had to use regular raisins, and almond slivers. Also I only had almond milk with vanilla on hand. But it turned out great! I was tempted to put bananas in it, but I resisted. Maybe next time!
Good morning Caroline! I like your idea of using almond and almond milk. Candy made hers with peaches. Now I'm thinking the next batch should be peaches with almonds, cooked in sweetened vanilla almond milk. What do you think?
I have a suggestion. Have you ever tried putting the Dates into your blender? When I'm making my smoothies I put the dates in first and blend them, then the milk and blend some more. That way the sweetness of the date is evenly distributed. If I make this (I should say "when") I think I will blend the dates and milk in the blender, and maybe even throw the vanilla and cinnamon in there. That way all those flavors are evenly distributed and there are no spots that may be sweeter or more vanilla-y than other spots.... Did you find that happening? or was it pretty well even flavor throughout?? BTW, Side note, How much longer till your braces come off?? :-)
I don't mind the sweet spots and not-so-sweet spots for this recipe. It kept it from feeling overly sweet and not bland all at the same time. I have blended dates and milk together first when making banana ice cream. HEAVENLY! The Orthodontist has me down for wearing braces 26 months. He said the last time we met that it would be much sooner than he predicted. My teeth are moving along quite well for someone my age. This April will mark one year of wearing them.
Simple Daily Recipes I like my food uniformed to the point that I even started putting the spices I use in the blender with any liquid. I know, I know, Toooooo Far.......... LOL..... We all have our weird things we do. lol
Love your videos and recipes. Oatmeal is one of my favorites. I currently only have a large slow cooker, I may have to invest in a smaller one. I read some of the suggestions below, and boy I am so going to have to try some of those. I bet the house smelled so good from the apples and cinnamon.
Hey Jill, I woke up in the middle of the night last night and couldn't go back to sleep. So I thought "What the heck! Might as well get up and prepare the crock pot oatmeal." It took about 20 minutes and I went back to bed. This morning the house smelled divine. I have a big crock pot (I bake a lasagna in there) and we are a family of 6. Well, there was nothing left!!! It was delish! We all ate it with gusto. I did add lemon juice to the sliced apples. And I did not have milk so I just put water but nobody missed it because at my house we cook oats in water only. I took some wonderful pics. I also added a dollop of coconut milk and everyone ate it all up. :D I got so many new recipes to try from your channel. Check my latest video on my channel where I am sharing what we were eating this past February. :) Have a Merry Christmas!! - Tereza
Ps ...you are getting so skinny lol :) you look great! Do you work out as well while on the vegan diet or do you just attribute the weight loss to the plant based lifestyle ? I did t loose weight on the vegan diet... But then again I cheated several times a week and ate cheese or chicken plus I continued to eat white flour carbs like crackers and stuff...not good... Maybe I should give the diet another try... But it's so hard for me to cut out all the fat too like coconut oil and grass fed butter...
Why thank you, Cara! I'm not any skinnier, thank goodness. It must be my long hair. My face looks thinner with longer hair. I don't mind sharing I weigh 112 pounds on average and sadly, I do not work out or maintain a consistent exercise routine. I started yoga before Christmas, LOVED IT, but have not been back since the New Year. I need to find a RUclips or iTunes channel that can take me through the moves. Anyhoo. I give all the credit for my good health and healthy weight to what I put in my pie hole. And what I DO NOT put in my pie hole. ;D
Let me throw in one more bit. I recognize that just because I'm thin, it doesn't mean I"m totally "healthy." Exercise, or more movement than sitting at my desk all day, proper amounts of sleep and cutting back on sugar and fats are my areas of improvements.
You crack me up! 10yrs later! Yes this is relevant 👏 and laughter is great medicine 😊 when you had a itch my favorite part. Hahaha
By the way I've made oatmeal 3 times now, and apparently it's real, real, good! Thanks for your help!
I just made this on top of the stove and with blueberries. I'm eating it now in chilly Norfolk, UK.
It's YUM.
Thanks Jill. X
looks luscious

Hoovesandpaws61 AH HA HA HA, you're punny! You would fit right in with my folks. We love puns.
Thank u for the recipe! Making it now! Yummy!
Let me know how it turns out for you :D
This recipe is going on my list. Thanks Jill.
This is great! I go to free food places and I always get oatmeal, and dried cherries and cranberries, and raisins. I have some dried up dates that would be perfect too. I love the apples in this. Yummy! My daughter will be loving this!!
kingmii73 Let me know how it turns out for your family!
OMG YUMMY!
I sliced my apple really thin on a slicer and it came out GREAT! Next time I will add a bit more cinnamon. but LOVE it!
HUGE IDEA! We just crumbled some graham crackers on top as a crust. OMG WAY TO GOOD TO BE HEALTHY !!! But wait, IT IS HEALTHY, WOOO HOOO!!!
connie connie I LOVE graham crackers! I can't wait to show you the pineapple oatmeal. OH. MY. WORD! I'm waiting right now for it to cool down so I can scoop it out in a mouthwatering fashion for the video.
definitely making that tomorrow afternoon for my sweet baking of the weekend. yummy ! :)
I think I'm going to make this tonight!

Had no idea either. Thanks for the *nfo
Can you substitute milk for the soy?
Going to try this! wonder if you could use other fruits... pears, maybe? Thanks - going to be on my pinterest board now!
Try the pears, Bunny! We're not pear fans at this house. You're going to have to let me know how they work out. I would love to read what you come up with. ;D
I'm excited to make this tonight before bed, going to cook on low for 8 hours. I'm going to do apples and fresh cherries hopefully it will turn out.
Me, too. Please let know how it turns out. Just the other day, C. HP asked,
"How many hours would it be safe to leave it on Low? Has someone already left it overnight?"
I didn't have an answer for C. HP. You've got to come back and tell us. ;D
I tried the 8 hours and it was just too long, they burnt around the sides, so im thinking maybe 6 hours max.. but they taste great!!! :)
THANK YOU for sharing, Mel. That's good information to have on hand. And I'm so glad the food tasted great and wasn't ruined. So are you enjoying the recipe for breakfast or dessert?
if u do it overnight...you must use steel cut oats. the quick oats will make it mushy.
I have made a recipe very similar to this one and cooked it overnight on low but used steel cut oats and it was great. I actually prefer steel cut oats to rolled oats but would never take the time to actually cook them on the stovetop, I've only done them overnight in the slow cooker!

Simple Daily Recipes Bannanas and Blueberries!!
Simple Daily Recipes Blueberries are sweeter in the end.
I was talking to Aunt Cindy last night. We both wonder what a pineapple upside down oatmeal would taste like. I plan on putting it together today.
What happened
Can i do the same with instant pot?
+Fatma Al-Hilal honestly I have not done much slow cooking with oatmeal in the Instant pot. You will have to tell me how this recipe turns out. 😃
Jill McKeever, Simple Daily Recipes i made regular oatmeal or chocolate oatmeal with IP. Will your recipe and tell you 😊😊
Oh my gosh, this lady makes me laugh. So nice to see someone enjoying life. I love these videos and can't wait to make this oatmeal. I have the best brownies in the oven now. ;)
+sandra dawe THANK YOU!!

Wow Jill, I felt like a Rock Star when you mentioned my name in your video! Love it!
Thank you, Shelly, for prompting me to add slow cooking to Simple Daily Recipes. I can only hope all my slow cooker recipes turn out as awesome as this one.
Why didn't you use the Instant Pot on the slow cooker setting?
+Loyd Clayton I didn't own or know about the Instant Pot when I produced this video two years ago. :D
Hmmm, Was just about to head down the block for an apple to make this when I realized I had half cup of oatmeal in my morning smoothie. I wonder how this would work with something else. The only other thing I can think of is Quinoa. Do you have any other suggestions that might work well here??
Now, I have to ask. Why are you counting how much oatmeal you eat in a day?
I just like to have a wide variety for nutrition.....
looks awesome, I'm thinking about making some banana ice-cream to top it with.
Looks soooo good!! I bet it smells awesome. I don't like raisins though and not crazy about dates and never buy them....could I use honey and omit the raisins and dates ? :)
This was so cute and hilarious! I cant wait to try this recipe :)
can I just bake it in oven instead of using slow cooker??I don't have one
You really are making me regret getting rid of my small slow cooker.. I only have a BIG one now and a small one would be perfect for things like this!
I picked up this 3qt cooker at the Kitchen Collection Store for $12.
A melon baller is great for getting the center core out when cutting up apples. =^..^=
I made this today! Omg! It was wonderful!! I had to use regular raisins, and almond slivers. Also I only had almond milk with vanilla on hand. But it turned out great! I was tempted to put bananas in it, but I resisted. Maybe next time!
