As per my understanding every Soul has its own reason to come down to earth and cleanse itself from its karma. As per yoga vasishtam with lots of birth cycles this soul has seen different father's ans mother's and relationship during its cycle. Then why is that giving thithi and darpanam to souls pertaining only to this birth is important. Also why should a soul which is the purest form of Brahman expect a human being to perform rituals for it. Correct ne if I am wrong
Because only with a body and mind, humans have discretion. Disembodied beings go only by their tendencies or samakaras they have accumulated. They cannot exercise discretion like in human form. Performing thithi with karuppu yellu for them with wishes and prayers for peace and mukthi will modify and have an effect on their tendencies.
