Forget Hulk Hogan. I had three favorites back in the day - Jesse the Body Ventura, Mad Dog Vachon, and of course, the great Baron Von Raschke! When the baron started goose-stepping around the ring, you knew the match was just about to end because the claw was about to come out! And that is all the people need to know! Thanks for the memories, Baron!
I was totally shocked to learn that he was "The Baron," the guy brought into the WWF to manage the Powers of Pain, before they turned heel and joined Mr. Fuji at the Survivor Series (which was a DOUBLE-turn, BTW, as Fuji had been Demolition's manager going into that match).
In 1979, a new pro wrestling publication hit newsstands and magazine racks across the nation. It was Pro Wrestling Illustrated. When the first issue went to press, Paul Jones & Baron von Raschke were ranked at #2 in the Tag Team Division. Also, Jones was ranked at #3 in the Most Hated Wrestlers category.
Back in the day, The Baron, Big Cat Erine Ladd and The Valiant Brothers were my favorite heels. Would be in front of the TV every Saturday night watching Bob Luce Wrestling in Chicago.
I worked with a cousin of his at a music store. Real crazy guy. Obe day we were talking about stuff and I guess wrestling came up and he said, 'I have a cousin/uncle who is a wrestler. His name is Baron Von something. ' I was like?! Von Rascke?! I never thought about but they looked similar, balding crazy German guy.
I want to have a deep life conversation with 3 wrestlers in my life 1.Mr Wonderful Paul Orndoff (if that's how you write his name) 2.Steve Sting Borden (saw him only once In my life almost struck a convo with him but he was super busy) 3.Baron Von Rashcke (I just want to get to meet someone of the Bruno Sammartino era) Oh and daffney unger but me and Shannon are following each other in Twitter so I can do that anytime. (Well I wish to do it in person tho) so yeah
didnt like him love to hate him i was only 10 -i know now he was my top five favorites!! i liked his proms as good as ric flairs or dusty r. he looks great now!! he had a great sleeper hold too!!
Holy Christ anybody my age or older knows how hot Von Raschke was, and how HATED the man was....not to mention DeBeers when he was working against Snuka!
On one hand, I totally hated this guy but slowly but surely, the idea of using the brain claw to smush peoples’ brains out of their heads developed an appeal to my rather twisted 10 year old mind, LOL. Occasionally, I still threaten to deploy the brain claw but the kids are grown and it’s not nearly as effective. In any case, danke, Herr Baron for the memories!🙏🏾
One of the sweetest men, you could ever meet.

The one and only claw master. The baron was always business in the ring but he could be quite entertaining to.
Love this guy! Buying this DVD today.
You gotta love good old Jim Rashke!

The Baron and George Steele are 2 of my Favorites!!
He's very soft spoken when not in character. Amazing how some of the software spoken people can be the most vibrant characters.

He did for a very short time.
He was the manager of the Warlord and Barbarian for a short time. WWE wanted them as heels, but apparently Baron was cheered. . . and let go.
