You have no idea how nice it is for the viewer to have cameras show each individual player mats. Makes watching these playthroughs so much more enjoyable.
Yeah, that little bit elevates GameNight above most board game streams IMO. It really helps the viewer see what's happening on each individual players tableau.
I know I commented 8 months ago, but I will be teaching my brother in law this game next week, so I revisited this video. I’ll say it again... Dave’s explanations are awesome. :)
I love the way Dave explains games. I’ve had my eyes on this one for a while because of the dice draft/ placement ... deck building mechanisms, combined with an awesome theme. Have to drink beer when playing this game:)
I love Daves explanation of games :) Ive played new games just based on this show, only having to reference the rules to play :) Although I do read the rules later :) Love this show and ty ty to all of you :)
The way the modules are introduced are great and help teach the game in a smooth simple way. The more modules you use, the more choice and control you have. It makes it a richer game in my view, elevates it from basic luck to something special!
This is a nice game. Great video as always! :D Never passed that contagious intro when I shout "GAMENIGHT!" With you all! :D Keep up the fun, the entertainment, and the great work! Much Love, Daniel
Thanks for that awesome episode - Candice is a great guest who brings joy to the table. :) You also need to try the modules - they are great fun and essential for all heavy cardboard gamer
Seriously, play with all the modules, they work so well together and adds so many more interesting options. We played our first game with them all, we didn't want to miss out!
What an amazing game. Push your luck, deck building, board building and dice placement (which I am interpreting as worker placement: send a waitress to deliver the beer, pick up the barrels... and so on) flavours. Plus the fun theme. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
BGG GameNight introduced me to this game and 3 years later and this remains one of my favourite games. There is an expansion 'Open Doors' that adds wine, bartenders, inn rooms, and other modules. I highly recommend this game.
I was already wondering when you were going to play this game. I recently purchased this game during Essen Spiel 2019 and I love it. Thank you for making these great videos!
Looks like you got all your table cloths mixed up, the starting deck are colour coded for each player, as is the metal plaque above the bar. The Detail Devil!
@@jameshayward1992 Weird. I think we did sort them correctly by numbers, though. So maybe they were still all the same starting decks... but with mixed colors..?
@@davidarnott6085 doubt it will have affected things too much then. just one of those things you notice when you have already played the game a couple of times. good episode though.
Well I know what game I'll be buying and teaching tonight. I heard about this long ago and once I heard who the creator was I had a feeling that I'd like this game and that it would need to be in my collection. This video just solidified my assumption.
LOL so I had this on in the background while working and in the end I was like 'seemed boring' and then everyone is like 'I loved it" and I'm like... I guess I missed something lol
Love the look of this, thanks guys! Only downside is, the white border on the decks, feel like it would have looked better on the table / board without that.
There were like half a dozen times where they didn't move the gold or beer markers after spending them. Most of the time they ended up with more than intended.
One day I'm going to make a playlist of all the GameNight! episodes in which I own the shirts that Dave (and sometimes Aaron! But no one else...) are wearing. But it might just turn out to be a playlist of all the episodes that Dave (and sometimes Aaron...) appear in. :).
I've been keeping an eye out for deckbuilding that doesn't use text on the cards-- I love Dominion but the text makes it a pain for some of us, especially when you need to read it from halfway across the table when you're deciding what to buy. On the other hand I'm not sure that this game quite gives you the extent of amazing combinations that you can get with Dominion, but it does look like fun. I also picked up El Dorado for another deckbuilder without text on the cards, and found it OK, but it really doesn't give me that Dominion combo feel. And I just bought Quacks, so I'll probably wait until a few plays of that before I decide on this one.
The fact that Lincoln and Candice have their cash box and monk in the wrong positions is really bugging me. Can we fix that in post? :) EDIT: Never mind. They fixed it. Thanks god, I was having palpitation.
Just noticed, Candice and Nikki have mismatched decks...Candice has the red tablecloth tables with green tokens/dice and Nikki has the green tablecloth tables with red tokens/dice.
I use these videos to help teach games, and you cover so many games a year that I watch most of these videos. So, thanks and keep it up. My questions is what kind of table are you all playing on it looks amazing. Boardgametables.com? It looks like it, but I do not know what the little medal circle is between Dave and Nikki (Camera)? Cheers
I noticed that Dave started with a green player customer on his deck. Starting deck customers have matching tablecloth color with players tokens. Also dont forget to put everything you buy on top of the deck not in the discard section. This can be quite anti intuitive for deckbuilding seasoned players.
You were talking about when it might come out in the US, but Northstar tweeted on Halloween that some stores could have it as soon as tomorrow. (Meaning tomorrow from Halloween.) And looks to be orderable directly. www.northstargames.com/collections/strategy-games/products/the-taverns-of-tiefenthal
@@boardgamegeek dear boardgamegeek, my friends and I have play through this great game numerous times, however we have a question for you: is there any restrictions a player could recruit in a single turn. If, for example, I produce 22 beer 🍻 this turn and carried forward 5 beer from the previous turn for a total of 27 beer, could I recruit recruit 3 nobles with 18 beer and another noble using the remaining 9 beer for a total of 4 nobles in a single turn? Thanks

I’ll say it again... Dave’s explanations are awesome. :)
Agreed, bought it after a SUSD review of the game, but this vid's explanation was perfect to better outline the rules on the base game.
I love the way Dave explains games. I’ve had my eyes on this one for a while because of the dice draft/ placement ... deck building mechanisms, combined with an awesome theme. Have to drink beer when playing this game:)
Dave is consistently the BEST games explainer on the net
It is a great game, it is even better with the modules to add changes to the game!
That's the kind of unconvoluted and simple, yet decision-rich gameplay that I like in a game. Also the visuals are just nice.

There's Candice!!! Good to see you again :)
I might have missed it in a previous video - but is Candice a known individual in the board gaming community?

And what is the reason that Dave and Nikki have each other's color cards in their draw pile?
South Park just shouted BGG and GameNight out!
When?
The most recent episode “Board Girls”
Love the outros that you guys do now - always makes me laugh! Thanks for sharing what looks to be another great game! :)
Looks like you got all your table cloths mixed up, the starting deck are colour coded for each player, as is the metal plaque above the bar. The Detail Devil!
This has the effect of starting decks not matching for each player. Some will have different amount of 1s and 2s

absolutely love you guys, thanks for this video. I am waiting for my copy of Taverns and learned much from you. I wish i could be there to play!
25:40 didnt dave took one of nicky cards ( green cloth)?
I clicked on this to find out how to pronounce it! lol. But I will have to watch the whole thing later; looks cool and I love the graphics and theme.

are the dice being used in the video the same as what came in the box? my copy came with wooden dice.
Our copy is the original German release and those were the included dice at the time. Thanks for the note and for watching.-Lincoln
@@boardgamegeek thanks for such a fast reply. really enjoyed your video akd will be playing this tonight with my wife.

Under F rulebook "you can combine dice to pay for an action" whats that mean?
Once again: watch video, buy game. You're killing my budget. One suggestion, you need to be drinking beer while you play this game.
Love the Mel Brooks reference! Hurumf!
Should the discarded cards each round be shuffled together, then added to the discard pile. It seems that how you discard could be favourable.
Also, a big fan of Game Night. Well done on clearly explaining games with sincere enthusiasm.
instant buy
36:09 Since she had 9 gold and used 7, she should have 2 in the bank, not the 1 she marked. Small thing of course.

I can see they have the same problem with the upgraded side tiles not fitting correctly.
Wh does the Green Player have Red dice
1:07:43 is the best time in the whole video for no apparent reason

I once won buy upgrading the monk. I went all the way and Hot 3 Noblesse from that
"You need me on that 5" lol

Yes and Dave has one table with a green table cloth of Nikkies. Other than that, great explanation
In se ond round i count 6 bears for him not 7

Perfect..
Just turn the "Dishwasher" card sideways when you have used it.
Good idea. My practice is to place the dishwasher card underneath the dice that it's used to prop up.
As someone else mentioned below... you guys just got name dropped on South Park
A wasted opportunity to call the money in the game "thalers" -- etymologically cognate with dollar and the -thal in Thiefenthal :D
We play more then 8 rounds so we can use the later game cards and upgrades. And of course have a decent chance of getting schnapps
Yellow Player had a Green guest

Lincoln should have rolled a maid dice every turn (upgrade) but he never did
He could also have ipgradef the beer Maiden for 0 because ha had 3 to give away
