Depends, if you were a African American with a college degree with marketable skills, the 80's were good for awhile same for White Americans. If you were a gay youth as I was living under the criminal neglect of Reagan during the AIDS crisis (Or living in an impoverished country in Asia /Southern Europe and parts fo Africa) you were screwed until President Bush pushed for funding AIDS research and prevention. Like any decade or time there were good and bad things. The music of the 80's had a ton of godawful crap music. But Duran Duran was on of the very good pop bands since the 1960's till now.

I totally agree with you John. The 80s were the best time for dance music. And Duran Duran still does kick ass. I had their posters plastered all over my room. But never had the money to go see them in concert. Sad, isn't?
Willie Stroker And here I thought all kids wanted to be in the 90's. Lets just say you did grow up during that time. You would be approaching 40's or mids as of today and you would have grown up in a era with no smart phones, internet, and what not. You ok with that?
BaronOfAnarchy I hate smart phones and all that. It sounds hypocritical because I use mine every day, but thats how I've grown up. If I'd grown up in the 80's, there is no way I would have a smart phone now, I hate the advancing technology. Of course, technology for hospitals and research is great, but all this technology for recreation is sad. I listen to almost nothing but 80's music and watch 80's wrestling. I just wish I just turned 42 or something, not 17.
I agree with you. Technology has become a major crutch for about everything. I don't care for this age of selfies, facebook, and what not. It's a sign of the times though, this is what defines the decade.
BaronOfAnarchy People seem to pick out clothes specifically for selfies they will take throughout the day now rather than just wearing what they feel like. People care more about how many followers they have than actually enjoying life. Being outside with friends before coming home and listening to incredible music instead of being inside all day on Facebook or playing the latest call of duty game. Don't get me wrong, video games are great, but an hour or two a day after being out in the sun, not sitting inside all day playing on them for hours and hours. Oh how I wish I could have been born in my parents' generation.
I grew up listening to 80's music thanks to my mom. I'm 22 now, but I fell in love with Duran Duran when I was about 14. I grew up wishing I lived in the 80's. I wish the latest stuff on the radio sounded more like this
dammmmm duran duran i was 15 yrs old when i heard this song for the very 1st time and i love it ....27 yrs later and still kick ass duran duran one of the greates bands of the 80's
Thanks to Nile Rodgers taking a mediocre song on "Seven And The Ragged Tiger" and remixing it into the #1 hit that it became. Alone with a great video that showed Duran Duran at there best.

I was 12 when this song came out. It was such a crazy turn of events. Run D.M.C. was resurrecting Hip Hop, Metalica was murdering the Metal scene, Michael Jackson was Thrilling people and Duran Duran was killing the top 40 of the radio
The very first time I heard and discovered this song was on the Himalaya ride in 1983 or 1984 at the Florida Strawberry Festival. The ride's stereo system was cranked really loud playing this song. It sounded so good, and was perfect for this type of ride. After the ride stopped, I walked up to the ride's operator booth and asked him what was the name of that song he just played, and he told me. The very next day, I went out and bought the cassette.

Duran Duran!.
On this day in 1984 {June 16th} a video of Duran Duran's "The Reflex" was aired on the Dick Clark ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time "The Reflex" was at position #2 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, the following week it would peak at #1 {for 2 weeks} and it spent twenty one weeks on the Top 100... It also reached #1 in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Ireland, and the Netherlands... Between 1982 and 2004 the British quintet had twenty one records on the Hot Top 100 chart, eleven made the Top 10 with two* reaching #1, besides the above "The Reflex", their other #1 record was "A View To A Kill", for two weeks on July 7th, 1985... * They just missed having two more #1 records when both "The Wild Boys" {1984} and "Notorious" {1987} peaked at #2 on the Hot Top 100 chart...

I wish the latest stuff on the radio sounded more like this
Best era for music the 80s
dammmmm duran duran i was 15 yrs old when i heard this song for the very 1st time and i love it ....27 yrs later and still kick ass
duran duran one of the greates bands of the 80's
There are times when this song lived rent free in my head, and after watching American Wedding last night, I was so happy to find this song!
Love me some "Duran Duran!" Excellent Track!!
When this song came out, I was upset. It didn't sound like Duran Duran to me and I thought they'd changed their sound. Now I've come to love it.
I was 15 at the time they were on top charts ...
One of my favourite Duran Duran songs, brilliant in every sense
Thanks to Nile Rodgers taking a mediocre song on "Seven And The Ragged Tiger" and remixing it into the #1 hit that it became. Alone with a great video that showed Duran Duran at there best.
Loved the group back in the 80's and still do now lol
I'm only 14 and i wish I lived in the 80s and 90s🤦🏽♀️😂 as you can see my profile picture has Joey McIntyre on it from new kids on the block 🤣💙
But me being a 14 year old girl im just crazy ab the 80s and 90s🙃
@@presleymann1294 hello and good morning Presley, I'll be 47 years old in July and a stroke and cardiac arrest survivor, unfortunately I was born in Toronto with a whole in my heart and had open heart surgery when I was 4 years old in April of 2006 I got a blood clot which caused a stroke on my left side and then on September first of 2008 I didn't wake up that morning I had a cardiac arrest which both my cat Nemo and my now ex wife Angy saved my life I'm better now but use a cane for balance when I'm outside walking and have a defibulator in my chest but the 80's were great except on October 16 1988 when my mom vassa past away. She died in her sleep at 38 years old from a brain aneurysm and I was 16 years old when I found her. Take care of yourself and thanks for the response sincerely Peter from Hamilton Ontario Canada LoL

Great song. I remember 1984 well as I started school for the first time.
The 80s had some seriously good shit music wise...love DD..
I was 12 when this song came out. It was such a crazy turn of events. Run D.M.C. was resurrecting Hip Hop, Metalica was murdering the Metal scene, Michael Jackson was Thrilling people and Duran Duran was killing the top 40 of the radio
I was 11. Loved John Taylor 🤣
I'm 16 and would love to have lived in the 80's!
It's Duran Duran on the radio as it's 1984! It's time for me to meet my future wife in 1984!

The reflex

the reflex

You've gone too far this time
but I'm dancing on the valentine
I tell you somebody's fooling around with my
chances on the danger line
I'll cross that bridge when I find it
another day
to make my stand
oh oh
High time is no time for deciding
if I should find
a helping hand
oh oh

Better Call Saul 6x6
Duran Duran!.
Remember when this was released blew everyone away, still does!!!
Classy , new wave music , such a good souvenirs of 80's....
One of the best songs 💯My hairdresser in the 80’s used to play them and other popular bands in the salon 🤣
Totally reminds of that era !
It's been my favorite song of all time since I first heard it as a junior high student in 1984. It's also my favorite concert style video ever. It's so awesome Dave Chappelle referenced the song is a classic skit AND it was used in Better Call Saul. GOAT baby!
I saw it in BCS. But when did Chapelle reference it?
