I was today years old when I learned that the white orange blossom is the state flower of Florida. But I must add I've never seen an orange blossom in my life :)

The music is too right!😎😎😎
Fascinating stuff. I heard that an orange peel takes 50 years to decompose, they're pretty dry. One of those Leave No Trace people told me that so I always pick them up when others leave them on a hiking trail
Didn't know an orange goes black when you leave it out for so long. This is impressive work👏🏻
Thanks! I expected the sludge to become black or at least dark brown because of the lemon time lapse what I did a couple of months ago: ruclips.net/video/nc8EFEoUuiE/видео.html
But I didn't expect it to get black this quickly.
Oranges have a bit of plant called “sumonide” inside their core, it causes them to create airwaves coming from out of the orange. With no air, the orange suddenly has bad tasting flavor which eventually turns the orange black, then gets mold.
Black is the old Orange.

spoilers 💔
would be interesting to see what would happen if you did them separately. The mold from the sliced orange probably spread to the whole orange quicker.
That's what I was thinking. Looks like the whole orange grew mold first where it was touching the cut orange. That thing could probably last a year if it wasn't near the cut one! Lol
It was sitting in liquid
@@_findingdori7723 a year?! You’ve obviously never let oranges go bad before 🤣
@@_findingdori7723 it would last 100 days not a year
When fruit and veggies rot next to others that aren’t. They start to rot faster. Especially apples. Apples are the worst
I feel like the you should have separated them or something, that whole orange would have lasted even longer if it was not affected by the mold on the cut one.
Exactly
It feel like it was a good thing tho shows how mold can spread idk
I was litteraly thinking that, then i scrolled to the comment lmao
Even i was thinking the same
Same
The Orange literally melted. I guess this is kinda what happens in compost bins when you think about it, as weird as it is, I wonded if you could safely use that to feed other plants.
I think you could, but it might be a bit too concentrated for some plants
It's interesting that the mold takes much longer to attack the outside of the unpeeled orange. A few days vs a few months.
The orange peel is there for a reason, it's job is to protect the inside of the orange.
Im sure the whole one would be fine if it hadn’t been sitting just mm to the rotting one
i have a small unpeeled orange sitting inside a thing in my room for over 2 years now and its not moldy or wet or anything, just dark brown and rough
@@chewtag if it’s inside a thing that must mean it’s humidity is kept in check from the outside and that’s why it lasted much longer than the ones shown here
Great tutorial on how to make chocolate from oranges, cant wait to try it out !
Yeah, my mouth watered when I saw it
Its truely astonishing how THAT used to be a ripe juicy orange once upon a time. Amazing work dude, I love your stuff!
The orange got so old it turned into a lemon then into mud lol
Yes, very true :D
MOLDED, ROTTING, SLOWLY DECAYING! 🔥🔥🗣🗣
I live in Florida and my parents have an orange tree in their backyard. They just picked it not too long ago. They are nothing like what you buy in the store. The color is a little off, but the taste of them are amazing. Oranges are a big deal here lol
I remembered you told me you are from Florida, and I think it's still only you who reads that last row in the description... :D
Color is a little off? You mean they are more greenish color, right? It's so strange to me because it think I've never seen a green orange in my life.
@@PhotoOwl That is correct about the color. Some of them tend to have a greenish color to them. They are really juicy and delicious.
My parents have had that tree and have been taking care of it for as long as I can remember. They'll put blankets on it during really cold nights because frost can destroy the oranges.
There are many different varieties of oranges.
Just like there are different colors and textures and tastes of apples…
Breeding and hybridizing trees makes for different types of oranges with different sizes, shapes, colors and uses.
@@PhotoOwl Ripe oranges are rarely completely orange. They get doused in ethylene gas to color them completely, that’s true for every citrus fruit. That’s why the organic citrus fruit are always blotchy green, the organic regulations forbid this artificial ripening. =)
I like the diversity in these timelapse like the cut orange and the whole one pls make more !
I'm glad you liked it. I have many more on the way :)
Just happened upon this channel by chance- really cool stuff you do showcasing decomposition (and growth!) Subbed, and absolutely recommending your stuff to my friends. So much time and effort clearly goes into these videos, and to a fantastic payoff 👏
Awesome, thank you! :)
i’ve binge watched like 10 of your videos now.. all of them are so cool yet disgustingly satisfying!
The whole orange’s defenses held strong for over 50 days. Impressive! 💪
I like the music in this one!
At first I wasn't a fan of it, but it grew on me while I edited the video :)
i love how insects and other creatures never let you waste something. this is the greatness of the nature i think.
The mold variety in these videos always fascinates me. I've never seen any mold where I live which isn't white, bluey grey or black, so these vivid yellows look almost alien
Such a beautiful Video wooooow. I love your stuff and subbed 😀👌
I'm actually addicted to these videos. They just so how life works...
Hahah thanks, I'm glad you like my videos. :)
Yeah, it's the carbon cycle
That orange peel fought the good fight. R.I.P. you absolute legend
This is crazy. Wow great time lapse!!
Nice video!
The effect is brilliant!
Well done!!
You have my support!
Thank you! Cheers!
I am in love with all your work
You did a great job with this one, guess you just earned a new sub :D
Thank you for subscribing :) Welcome aboard! I hope you will like the future videos too.

Superb !!!!!!! Video my friend !!! 👌 as always .... All the best for next video 👍

Thank you! Have a nice weekend :)
Lovely shots as always!
Many thanks! :)
Only 24k views? This deserves as much as your popular videos!
Around Day 73 was when I thought to myself for the first time in any of your videos I have seen (and I am slowly going through them all) that it was actually kind of pretty. But holy cow, did those turn BLACK! Wow.
love your videos!!!
Ah, what a vibe. Watching rotting fruit to relax
I felt the greatness of nature after watching this video.
Yeah, it's the beauty of the carbon cycle. Thanks to the decomposers for recycling nutrients!
Beautiful
Hey Photo Owl I thought it was cool😎😎😎😎😎😎how the slowy rotted and quickly got moldy I didn't know a sliced orange compared to a whole orange got moldy so quickly keep up the good work and keep making good content👍👍👍👍👍👍
That mold turning white so fast everyday is some dy/dx shii
this is really cool
Thanks! There is more to come
Hi, can you possibly do a timelapse of jello or gummies? And I'm just curious, do you use the stuff you used for the videos as kitchen utensils? Great video btw!
Thank you!!
I already did a jello time lapse, here you go: ruclips.net/video/K-iHh9mzCZ8/видео.html
I will start to film the gummies very soon, great idea :)
No, I don't use these cutleries in the kitchen anymore. Not because they couldn't be cleaned, but I always need them anyways, so I can just separate them from the others. But I disinfect and clean them anyways.
@@PhotoOwl I see, great job on video!
I love the reverse at the end because it looks like bugs building a tasty fruit for us to enjoy
The video and background music are very well matched. It will be interesting to think of background music that matches the images of things decaying👍
Thank you very much! Sometimes it takes a very long time to find a track that fits the image
The fact that the cut orange become a delicious chocolate brownie by the day35. is fascinating :D
everybody should check out your videos they are very fascinating to me
Nice Video my friend !!! 👌 All the best for next video 👍
Have a nice weekend ahead 😊
Thank you! You too! :) btw I dropped you a message on IG
@@PhotoOwl Okay I'll check it.
forbidden brownie mix at the end.
Buongiorno! Excellent Content, bravo!
Thank you!
Nice jam u got here
So what happens to those oranges that just get hard on the oudside but i still good on the inside and are actually sweet but they don't rot like that the pills just get hard and you can no longer pill it off normally so what I'd normally do is make a small hole and suck the juice
yes!!
Thanks :D
You could have kept them in different places the cut ones liquid also makes the citrus on the uncut fruits peel react so due to that also 1% of the uncut orange got rotted
Watching the mold crawl over the whole orange reminded me powerfully of an eighties music video
the time you've been making these time lapses AND the time that goes in to makin them, youre crazy you gotta be doing this by taking videos of atleast a few at a time, yknow what i mean?
Great video. I have a theory that if you title your videos in the frame of a question they will get many, many more views. I could be wrong but it's my theory, lol. Awesome video, once again, regardless!
Thank you!
I tried that in the past a couple of times, some worked some didn't. I'm not too algo conscious recently, but I'll experience with different titles again.

COME ON OWL!!! YEAHHHHHHHH
Great and interesting video first I see the orange it becomes so black thanks for sharing
Thanks :) and thanks for watching!
That gunk looks tasty, like the stuff they put in Jaffa Cakes.
In middle school I left a banana in my locker all year. By the last day of school it looked pretty similar to these.
Finally it turns into chocolate brownie 😍
Una fruta muy apetitosa.
The 4th Dimension: Time, The Ultimate Digester.

How much space do each of these time lapses take up ? 1 day vs in total?

Well guys, we got it
The official death of Annoying Orange
Nice lava cake you got at the end. Please make a review
That half orange just disintegrated like nothing I have ever seen before
I had an entire orange in my school backpack for half the school year, it turned black, no mold or anything just a black orange 😂
is the white bottom the mould stripping the container coating?
It must be viral😍😍😍
Do you think so? :D:D
I had a weird question:- how do you get rid of flies and worms once the shooting is over?
I let many of them out, but I also had to use some insect tapes. The problem is, if I don't throw out the rotten food/fruits/veggies it doesn't matter if I threw out the flies, because they get born every hour from their maggots. This was actually a pretty big problem, because I wanted them gone but I couldn't just throw out my projects before they were finished. I had to wait couple of weeks without starting to film anything new, now this is the reason I uploaded less recently. By now the studio is fly free and I'm working on 15 projects again, will be 20 very soon.
@@PhotoOwl that sounds like a lot of work. you really deserve more subs dude! also, can't wait for new videos on those projects. keep making these, I really enjoy them and I know many people do it too.
Thank you for the kind words, it keeps me going :)
Hmmm, 100 days ago I put some oranges here. Where'd they go?
Good for you that you're earning money now with yt😊👍
New life lol (it's not a lot yet :) )
@@PhotoOwl I can imagine, but at least something to get back in some of your costs :)
The cut one turned into black sludge before the intact one even started showing visible signs of rotting.
*Basically what happened to the small orange in the bottom of my Christmas stocking in a nutshell*
Im pretty sure you discovered a new planet when you showed us the half orange.
Now you made Pluto jealous :D
Never looking at a 🍊 the same way again
What happens to the left over residue over time? 🤔
Was it a plastic container? Did it eat through the container itself or just a paint layer?
cut orange kinda lookin' sus
crady ziamond
“Gone. Reduced to atoms.”
You should have kept them separate. Since the container was open and there were flies, mols, bacteria, Virus, moisture it went bad so early otherwise it would just dry out and become small in size like in a dehydrator. And even taste tasty too. Avoid moisture at all cost. Mold grows due to moisture.
Dont think I've ever seen legitimate sludge until I watched this video
Interesting to see what I assume to be calcium accumulation underneath the cut orange
Yum yum brownies
sliced orange: *disintegrates into a black puddle*
whole orange: "bro u good?"
Wow! I know orange oil is caustic, but I was not expecting the rotting fruit to eat through the container. Hope it didn't damage anything important underneath.
It's the concentrated citric acid and whatever acids the flies used to break down the orange.
I see you don't keep the things in a closed container, hence the flies. I'm wondering what your studio smells like
I was the 1,000th like
I imagine something like, while I watch this video, he is on the 42° day of experiment A, 72° day of experiment B and 93° day of the experiment C.
Go go, we are waiting 😅 thank you 🙂
Do you know what kind of larva are those? It'd be interesting to know what they become once fully developed.
Also are your experiments on a closed environment? If not, you could do one in a sealed container to see what kinds of fungi would develop.
I'm almost sure they are larvae of the fruit flies that you can see on the fruit. Some of my experiments are in closed environment, like this orange one. You can tell by the background, here you can see the walls of the plastic box I used. :)
@@deepbluedrone in a sterile environment you probably wouldn’t see fungi. Fungi spread with spores. So a fungi would have to be nearby, and would have to spread the spores through the air or by touching…
Only mold or breakdown via bacteria would prob happen in a sealed environment.
How to make orange juice
Wow👌🏻
