You both do such great work! Will your new windows have screens?
Will the Cottage have electricity and running water 💧?
Do you have any idea when the Cottage was built originally?
Everything is coming along so nicely!
      You should be very proud!!
Looking forward to your next adventure!
Wishing you well from Northern California!!

😅 The patience and hard effort that you both put into the work that you are doing on this property is certainly evolving into worthwhile projects. You've taken a house derelict from neglect and made it lovely home. You've breathed new life into the property with trees and plants. Congratulations to you both. Great job!

Straw on top of the potatoes works great. The potatoes just grow into the straw and makes it easy to harvest!!! Keeps weeds down and shades the potatoes. You still can do that too! 😊

When your marigold flowers die save the heads they are full of seeds. Next year you can just scatter seeds around your plants and you will have a ton. I ended up with a whole pillow case full and just hung it in my garage over winter. The next years I planted them all the way around my garden and I had the best crop with NO bugs.

    • @michaelhayden5264
      @michaelhayden5264 Месяц назад

one other advantage of marigolds is that if you have "nemetode nodules" on your tomatoes then the marigolds will strangle them. Another win-win!

Old Windows. A shard of old glass, falling unexpectedly is basically a falling razor. Put a couple strips of masking tape or painter tape on each of the panes. Unless the entire pane falls, you won't get any dropping guillotines.
The stone work looks great. Good luck with the plum tree! Thanks for all your time.

    • @cferguson3368

Wet your shirts with water often during the day - and also your hats (including Ricky's makeshift shepherds hat). It helps you stay cool - and any slight breeze becomes a bonus.

Hi there, here is Hanka from the Czech Republic. I love marigolds, they are pretty, really resistant and their blossoms will last till the very end of autumn. Try to collect the seeds then, there will be plenty of them, let them dry and store them in a dry place over the winter. In March, you can plant them in the greenhouse. As soon as they grow a bit ( after 3 weeks) you can place them in your flower beds.
I wish you all the best, keep creating your lovely videos and sharing your life with us. 💚🪻

Hello Ricky and Victoria, I am a new subscriber. about 2 weeks ago. I have watched all your videos.
very interesting, not boring at all. one of the reasons why I want to watch all your videos, is because I was curious and had lots of questions in my mind, when I first came across one of your videos.
so I think I should watch your video from the beginning so I can know the story.
and I can't wait for the next video. I pray that you both are healthy and happy, and always given ease by God, in carrying out whatever it is. Amen.
so you can continue uploading new videos, because I see this is the last video uploaded 10 days ago.
I also pray that your RUclips channel continues to grow, continues to grow to 1 million subscribers. Amen.
Every time I finish watching your video I feel happy, sometimes I'm moved to see your struggle working on buildings and gardening.

PLUMS! Love them. I have planted a little orchard and read back then that in the first 1-2 years it is best to remove all the fruit so the tree can focus on establishing a good root system. I found it easiest psychologically when the fruit was tiny so it didn’t break my heart. My trees are vigorous and don’t require additional water in summer. Great work all round the property!

Another way of growing potatoes is to use old car tyres. You use one round the plant to start with then add another & fill up the soil. Makes it very easy to harvest too. Here in Johannesburg, South Africa, old tyres are readily available, don’t know if they are where you are. Everything coming along so well, congrats!!!!

If you replace the shutters you can put hinges into those broken holes with some epoxy

Save the shutters, they have tons of character and might be used in some way or another. Not it shutters, at least as a a decoration in a barn or something. Love what you're doing and enjoy every week!

Will try to repurpose them one way or another but they’ll need a LOT of tlc! They’re pretty much disintegrating

Overlapping roof tile block beds are good for tucking in a floppy 'tent' of horticultural fleece providing a warm environment for early spring crops (fleece let in rain and sunlight). They are good for slug control also. During the day they hide under the tiles so you need to lift them and scrape the slugs into water-filled jars where they drown. If not they come out at night to chomp the plants!

Thankfully so far the slugs on the farm seem to be heavily concentrated in one area of the land & it’s nowhere near the veg garden…hopefully it stays that way but I’m sure they’ll find it sometime

Well done you two...it's looking great...you should have hidden a time capsule iside the window cavity so that in many, many years to come someone in the future could find...maybe some before and after shots...xxx
