For securing the hose clamps I use a socket with an adapter to my multi tip screwdriver....NO scratches on the tank. Great idea for catch can.

Little bit of steel wool at the bottom of can works well. I have DIY catch cans on all my vehicles and they catch a ton of blow by. I used to have one on my Dyna but I removed it and now just vent to the atmosphere because the hose from the front kept getting clogged. It worried me that the pulses from front and rear feeding to the T fitting were fighting against eachother causing the front to get clogged and rear to drain. So I decided to vent to atmosphere and it works great. Not that much even comes out and I just have a little rag I wipe it with occasionally, never gets on my leg, pipes or bags so I’m rockin it like that. I filled the factory holes inside the throttle body with black silicone and smoothed off so air doesn’t get trapped in the little holes for most efficient air flow.

Amazon sells those spring type clamps in metric sizes... I hate those screw clamps...

Why not just drill two holes on one side of the filter to allow it to breathe and just run the 2 hoses into the catchcan/gas filter ,one on each end ?

I just wanted the one in the top. Makes it simple to unscrew and clean out.

Better than a greasy right leg. Like the idea, dig the look.

I made a similar one for my 2013 Road Glide, 2 holes are plenty for it to breathe, I have 4 holes in my cap too, so I'm gonna put another cap on mine with only 2 holes drilled into it. I have to clean between my lifter blocks a couple of time a week so I'm gonna put a fuel filter in my catch can to see how that'll work. Thanks.

Forget a catch can. T or y fitting and run the hose down behind the oil pump and under to the bottom frame and call it a day! 6 feet of hose and a fitting DONE

Was wondering if you know the part number for the tear drop s&s filter unit as I want to get one for my 2009 street bob

Good Job on that setup, Where did the 90° breather caps come from ? Been wanting to do this mod for awhile now but didn't want the hoses coming straight out of the head. Thanks in advance

Hows about just running a 1/4" steel tube under your rear fender, (to the end), and running a line from the "T" fitting to it?
Done this PCV method for decades with great success, "NO MORE RESIDUAL OIL ON YOUR REAR TIRE OR YOUR ENGINE!"

Hey Blinker, hows that catch can catching fumes? Have u made any mods to make it better, or is it good as is? Just found ur channel. 👍

Thanks for the thumbs up! I appreciate it. It's not for catching fumes as much as it's for catching the bit of oil that's usually sent back into the cylinders to be burned again. It's doing a really good job.

Did you put a little foam or something in the bottom? Nothing is coming out of the vent holes on mine.

1/4" line. Got the filter from Amazon by searching aluminum fuel filters

Not a bad idea for sure but the worm drive clamps look janky- the constant tension clamps(at least where visible) would've looked much cleaner, besides i doubt they need to be all that tight.

Agreed, the look terrible and I'll change them during my next service. Just gotta get some that fit. What I have is too large or too small.

How's that working out for you? Is it effective? Why not leave the filter in place? I like the idea!

    • @blinkerfluidgarage

Works great. I tossed the filter because it would need to be cleaned or it would clog. Now I just unscrew it and dump any oil out and screw it back on.
