This story was such a letdown. Instead of adding dumb lines like "poopy boy" Working Designs should've just tweaked the script into something a little better. Hear me out, instead of just fighting "hatred incarnate" why not have the last boss be Shimbatha who, after being defeated at the end of Exile, was confined to the Tower of Lost Souls and his hatred (especially for Sadler) was what was infecting all those around. It would tie it in more with the first Exile. Why not even have Lawrence be a Klispin Crusader who joins Sadler because the hatred is infecting his comrades as well? Instead of having him just be created from hatred's mind or whatever, have him be a crusader who looked up to Yuug D'Payne and that's the reason he first attacks Sadler, but he puts aside his revenge and joins him to end the infectious hatred that's spreading. Just a thought...

Exile II: Wicked Phenomenon in its English incarnation is a broken mess and a waste of time, but it can be patched to make it playable!
Unfortunately, then you're left with an adventure that starts off as a promising follow-up, and ultimately succumbs to poor level design and a worthless story full of cliches and caricatures. So disappointing. At least the music is good.

Ah, patched. I was wondering why that seemed so much easier than I remembered it.

I was willing to forgive the goofiness of the dialogue since that's just a thing that always happens with localized Turbografx games... but then 1:03:04 happened. _Yeeeesh._

NorthStarBlue1 Yeah, that one is unfortunate. The burp at the end of the credits is pretty funny though.

Got it working. Blew through the patched version in few hours with only one spot requiring a couple level grind. The American version, which I managed to beat with no save states, took about 4-5 hours. Both versions are beatable and the difficulty in the American version is definitely overstated. If I had to recommend one version out of these, it would have to be the American version with the working design's difficulty. It provides a good challenge and is doable for a skilled gamer. The original is just too easy all around and leaves you feeling you didn't really try all that much.

@Joseph Valencia The American version is slated to be the nigh unwinnable one by a lot of people.

This game was such a let down. It was darn near IMPOSSIBLE to beat one of those later stages, too.
