- A playthrough of NEC's 1991 puzzle-action game for the TurboGrafx-16, Bomberman.
Bomberman for the TurboGrafx-16 (known as Dyna Blaster in Europe) served as something of a soft reboot for the series - a "modern" reenvisioning the original game ( • Bomberman (NES) Playth... ) that had become an early smash hit for Hudson on the NES. It built the foundation for Bomberman '93 ( • Bomberman '93 (TurboGr... ) and Bomberman '94 ( • Bomberman '94 (TurboGr... ), as well as for the parallel SNES series that began with 1993's Super Bomberman ( • Super Bomberman (SNES)... ).
It's very similar to the NES games. You still blast through a maze, wiping out all of the roaming monsters while powering yourself up, but it has seen some important improvements. The 16-bit facelift is phenomenal. The themed worlds, cutesy sprites, and the boss battles all establish standards that we'd see in later titles (like the classic Saturn Bomberman: • Video ). Perhaps most importantly, it is this version of Bomberman that cements the series' legacy as a multi-player powerhouse. Not only was it the first game to support more than a single player, but it features full support for the Turbo's 5-player multitap and the Turbo Express's link cable, making this game the birthplace of both "battle mode" and the series as it's generally regarded today.
If you were a fan of the Bomberman series and haven't yet played this one, do yourself a favor and try it out. It lacks some of that flash of the later games, but there's no denying just how much this one embraces the heart of the entire franchise.

NintendoComplete (www.nintendocom...) punches you in the face with in-depth reviews, screenshot archives, and music from classic 8-bit NES games!
It wasn't the first Bomberman game, but it is the first one to feature the multi-player gameplay that made the series so famous.
And, imho, best soundtrack.
I thought that honor belonged to Bomber Boy/Atomic Punk?
And it wouldn’t be the first time Black Bomber was Evil. Of course one game showed his day job was “Sushi Chef” as back to himself, he treats his fellow Bombers to a fresh-made-by-him meal of sushi.
I always loved how the actual danger in bomberman comes from becoming more powerful, you get too cocky you die.
Fire up!
Fire up!
Fire up!
Bomb up!
Fire up!
Speed up!
Speed up!
Bomb kick!
Speed up!
Bomb up!
*kicks a bomb into another bomb and then dies*
Yeah these games are pretty easy. But the moment you grow impatient...
I'll never get sick of _Bomberman_ 's adorable music and sprite works, though admittedly, I've not played most of them. It's always a joy to watch the destruction and mayhem of this series. Jun Chikuma's theme is timeless, and I love the added movement and chord changes of the later games. The classic coin enemy if you let time run out creeps me out in the best way.
Haha I know exactly what you about the coins. I also like the enemies' faces when they've been blown up.
Oh yeah damn Pontans.
I do like that the first proper introduction of Black Bomberman and a final boss in the main series (Robo Warrior aside) is basically just a glorified multiplayer match where the other players cheat.
Always called this game
Bomberman 16
&
Turbo Bomberman
Why? Cuz there are other Bomberman games also called "Bomberman", nothing else
This is such a nostalgia trip for me. I owned a TurboGrafx 16 when I was young, and played this game for many, many hours of my childhood.
Thanks for posting this!
This port of Bomberman also received a port to DOS.
Yup, it was also on the Amiga. Was the Dos version called Dynablaster, too?
@@NintendoComplete Yeah, it was called Dynablaster.
Surprisingly similar to the Tg16 version despite being on weak hardware.
@@NintendoComplete And Atari ST too! The other versions of this game were called Dynablaster because at that time, Bomberman was called Dynablaster in Europe.
Tho old memories
THIS IS BOMBTASTIC!!!
Pretty cool game. Memories!
The annoying thing is im playing pocket bomber man for the GBC and the game is terribly easy. But im terribly impatient. So i die terribly quick. Trying to see how far i can get in a single game over. Not doing well hahaha. But ive been itching bomberman. A whole bunch in the series i want to play
I consider this game bomberman 2 on the nes bomberman 93 and 94 to all be canon to each other as black's programing error was the thing that drov him to kidnap lisa and for these games (except for 94) black is still doing Bad things with no explantion
Hey, I think you mistakenly put this video in the NES playlist
Thanks. I was wondering why I couldn't find it :)
In some aspects you can argue Bomberman II on the NES is a port of this game.
guys i'm not watching the video cause i'm planing to play it. I just want to know is the has same texto or something like that to know if I have to buy it in japanese or english.
Do road runner's death valley rally
Um ☝️ 😘 de que não 🙈 8 a sua própria existência no
Sad thing is that I am unable to find any info about special items in this version. Like yeah, NES has all the items and even lists stages where you can grab them. TG16/DOS? Not a chance. I tried myself few times on DOS but they seem so random to me.
Ahh the old days bomberman
Boa tarde a todas que estão em São João da silva no dia de meu nascimento do ano que bomberman e verdade que ela me passou e que não 🙈
This ending resembles castlevania
