Black Bear Cubs of 2024

The Wildlife Center of Virginia is the only facility in Virginia that is permitted to treat Black Bears. Each year, the Center admits dozens of injured and orphaned Black Bears, most of them cubs that need assistance. When admitted as cubs, bears typically spend close to a year at the Center, growing and learning the skills they need to survive in the wild.

These babies are so precious. Ripped from their mummies. Faced with humans they don't recognise. They. Need love and affection like Any living creature. My heart breaks for them. 😢

The eyes of a bear are so incredibly hard to read, if at all. I suppose this holds true of many species.

Sharon, Would bear diapers make things a little easier for the bear mom's until they're ready for the big yard? I've seen such items used on paralyzed cats, though I know it would be another expense, and it might be difficult finding ones small enough. I know that some of the cat rescues I follow have had problems with sizing, but they also have used the smallest human baby diapers. Perhaps the Merci program that the center uses could help.
