    Within 24 hours of applying this advice I got an Ace. I’ve had plenty of aces, but this one was probably on purpose, because I seen the line that I needed to hit. Now I understand why people take so long to to throw, and not just look and throw; like I’ve been doing since 07. Maybe I’m surrounded by people who don’t want to explain or expand another players game, because it’s a competition. But thank you.

    Love the tips, you make them so simple. Also where you live or are doing these last few tips looks really similar to most of South Dakota especially west of Missouri River. I live in Pierre (Pier) South Dakota and that part of Colorado? looks much like South Dakota more West Missouri River where there are more hills and it is a tad just a tad drier.

    Agreed. I always decide the line. Extend both arms out to be on the line. I look down my arm 180 degrees opposite of the throwing direction and pick out a target on that line, say a tree, bush, the last basket, whatever is on the line in the opposite direction. Then, always on my reach back, my disk is aligned with that object. This is how I am so accurate with 360s. There is no difference aiming between a regular run up and a 360. So, why not use the extra 6mph or so if you need? Thanks Scott for breaking it down correctly and always debunking the myths.

    Scott, love your videos. I'm newish to the game. 2 years. Sadly, I didn't build a good backhand from the ground up. My timing is terrible. I watched your snap video. What drill or drills would you recommend to help develop the whip like timing while keeping it on the line?

    I have been playing for 5 years now, and have watched every instructional video. All of them. This was one of the best. Don't think it covers everything you need for a beginner. I am 950 rated though, and think this is going to be super helpful with consistency. Thanks Scott!

    • @superchampable
      @superchampable 4 года назад +1

      Hi, How would you estimate your average course scoring at a 950 player? Playing par? -4? +4? I've read on PDGA how to get a player rating but I play for fun with friends and usually play a new course every week. +1 to +5 is my norm. Can you give me a idea of where Im at? Thank you

    • @jamalydude
      @jamalydude 4 года назад +1

      SuperChamp - play some sanctioned tourneys that’s how you get your rating

    • @stevetreehots3583
      @stevetreehots3583 4 года назад

      @@superchampable the PDGA rates players. If you join the PDGA and play a pdga event you will get a rating.

    • @randallkornholio2971
      @randallkornholio2971 3 года назад

      Or if someone you know is rated and you beat them or tie them then there is a good chance you are at or near their rating...or play a course that is PDGA sanctioned and see what others rounds were rated and play those, its not going to be as good as actually getting a PDGA number but it'll be in the ballpark.

    • @stevetreehots3583
      @stevetreehots3583 3 года назад

      @@randallkornholio2971 it doesn't work like that. Playing a buddy in a casual round isn't the same as a tournament. Also 1 round isn't enough to set you rating. I competed in an A tier and tied Garrett Gurthie the first round. Using your logic I would be rated about the same as him. I promise you I'm not lol.

    This is a good visualization technique, but I'd like to offer a little pushback on the phrase "there is never any benefit to going off your line." Some newer players struggling with doing a full reach back straighten their arm and keep it straight out as they turn their hips and shoulders, no run up. Not saying that is a superior technique, but for building muscle memory it does have a benefit.
    However, when doing an x step in with you all the way. Thanks for the pointers!

    It'd an older video but I hope you notice this Scott. I can't figure out why I'm often missing left when I throw with an annhyzer release (RHBH) and even more importantly, wtf do I keep missing right BIG TIME basically every time I throw with a hyzer release. Just automatically right and I can't seem to fix it. The more hyzer I put onto the disc, the more I just keep missing right, not by just a few degrees but more like 30 degrees. It feels natural, it doesn't feel like I'm rounding (but it might honestly be the case, just doesn't feel like it) and I'm lost here. This has been a problem for over a year now.

    • @ScottStokelyDG

      Watch my snap video and be sure you plant your foot before you move ANYTHING else. If you rotate your shoulders even a tiny bit it will alter your line.

      @@ScottStokelyDG will watch for this the next time I go playing 🤔

    • @1andonlyMiro
      @1andonlyMiro 2 года назад

      @@ScottStokelyDG obviously issues like this that have been going on for a long time don't get resolved in an instant, but this simple advice has definately helped WHEN I execute the throw correctly. Do you have an opinion about playing in the snow? I feel like all of the work indoors that I've put in, mostly with putting, has been absolutely useless. As soon as I hit the actual course, every putt seems to go anywhere else but the basket, also my throwing is way off (been having a break from disc golf for a couple of weeks so it is to be expected, but it's way worse in the winter) and I just fling the discs anywhere but on the line I'm trying to hit. I'm throwing relaxed, feels like I'm getting a lot of snap to my release, but the aim is just off. My question isn't actually about how to fix this, but has this happened to you (lot of practicing but round scores go down the gutter) and if it has, how do you deal with it? 🤔

      He didn't mention anything about it being straight? The line, as I understand it, is just the route you want your disc to travel on. Initially, on the step up, it's straight, but ofcourse it's going to turn, hyzer or fade at somepoint. Unless you're James Conrad... :D
