    Exactly! I remember reading one of his books. I can't remember the title of it now but something about how to build lasers, phasers and other stuff. It was really awesome. Bob has some really crazy High Energy projects. Microwave cannons and whatnot. I am glad someone else knows where this video came from. 240p for a reason... the original video was shot years and years ago.

    To everyone asking questions about this: This tesla coil is driven by, most likely, a neon sign transformer, or a series of them. The neon sign transformer is plugged into either a 110v or a 220v outlet. The neon sign transformers create a extremely high voltage, but a considerably small current.

  • @ChromeXk
    @ChromeXk 16 лет назад

    You were right on the first part, it only takes a small current to kill. But 50/80 will NOT kill you at low amperage. Think im wrong? Stun-guns use voltages in the multi kilovolt range, some even in the hundred kilovolt range no death there, just a nasty shock.

    actually this is 500kv. I completely agree with you. Bob Lannini started this company in 1974 and they work very hard. It takes them time and work to complete each new coil, and people just steal videos from them to get 700,000 views? its ridiculous

  • @cryoburned

    @ZPRocK
    My statements on wattage etc. are correct. My point was that it is possible to achieve millions of volts while using on 60 watts. Your coil uses .000195 amps, (and 400kv more), so its wattage is higher. Also, I said household current, but I meant voltage. Household current is 100 or 200 amps, but receptacles are usually wired with 20 or 30 amp wires, with 20 amp breakers.

    That has high values in BOTH voltage (volts) and current (amperes). High-frequency, low-current electricity (like the one that the secondary coil of a Tesla coil generates) is not dangerous.

  • @cryoburned

    @cody2o0
    Power is measured in kilowatt hours.
    A watt is a measure of amps times volts. The average light bulb consumes 60 watt hours. Household American current is ~120 volts. That's .5 amps at 120 volts is 60 watts.
    A Tesla coil could put out 1,000,000 volts at the same wattage by using .00006 amps. So, 1,000,000 volts using the same power as a light bulb.
    Tesla demonstrated electricity could safely pass through a person, provided there was almost no amperage.

    1. Electricity bill should be negligible
    2. Purpose: Its a GIANT transformer. Power stations can use these if it was more efficient in power (although it is very efficient in terms of material)

    well i got a basic transmission without high voltage. under 1000 volts! thats so important for me using what i got! with a more perfected system i should be able to get 50 - 100 ft. maybe even more than that!! its efficient and it works, there were never any problems with the magnifying transmitter version tesla made. regular tesla coils like tesla said are inefficient.

  • @Alarindris
    @Alarindris 15 лет назад

    Most people I know refer to the input voltage. For example, if they used an NST they'd say it's 15kV or whatever the output on the transformer happens to be. Saying it's a 1 million volt coil is misleading.

    I think this is fantastic and promising science. We have to avoid harmful nuclear

    I could go fall off a house into a pool and it would kill me if I went head first, lets say I do it with cement oh wait looks like I'm dead!
    And he is right the AMPs do kill. The volts don't well maybe to an extent..
    And also they make 1000 Volt but low AMP electric fences that are designed to shock, not kill (Painfully shock)

    i would say it´s posible that it is 1milion volts...becouse i have this small litle black box thingy that runs on batteries and puts out 1000 volts, and pluss it´s static so it doesn´t have that much ampere...still hurts like hell if you would tuch it...might even die if the voltage is to high

    The PRACTICAL USES of Tesla Coils (TCs) are:
    -- COMMUNICATIONS
    -- POWER GENERATION/ TRANSMISSION
    -- entertainment
    Important! true Tesla Coils are CONICAL! (a toroidal coil on top helps)
    The action of a TC is the division of heavy, hot 'electricity' (electrons) from the cold, light electricity (the power).
    Power can be multiplied >20x thru TCs; Power one up and several IDENTICALLY wound TCs at ANY DISTANCE will OUTPUT power > input at the powered one INSTANTANEOUSLY.
