Right pacing is the key. Nicely done, congrats! Love the story and narration. Enjoyed. Meeting riders getting down at full speed is a bit scary. And racing at altitude is freaking hard.
So glad this popped up on my feed. Really enjoyed the video! I had watched some others and started counting myself out of ever riding the Leadville, but keeping a nice pace like this and accomplishing the ride is all I want so this is awesome to see. Thanks for taking us with you!
Great video! Yeah if the race is longer than your long rides in training, you're best off just going as easy as you can because it will hurt really bad by the end. You don't know it, but you're going harder than you think because people around you make you try harder than you normally would. Very smart pacing!
I generally don't like point-of-view videos, but you do a great job due to the interesting narration. You provided a sense of what it is like to be in this race. I look forward to more of YOUR suffering in the future :)
Dude, holy shit! What a great job, Bruce. So proud to see the results of all your hard work. I was actually going to do Leadville solo (I'm not really big into crowds/racing) just because I wanted to experience it, but now that I'm seeing this, I'm just not sure that's possible. Maybe. Anyway, on to your next effort! Steamboat? 😉
Now you need to come back for that big buckle. Watching your videos this year I really think all you need is more time at altitude. 5,000 ft. in Bolder is not quite enough altitude. Great job!
Great video. I enjoyed your "everyman" perspective. But no one who does Leadville is really everyman. Your strategy looks to have paid off as you made up so many positions on all your climbs. There's nothing you can do about altitude headaches, just a matter of luck if they hit you or not.
at 8: 38 I was so surprised seeing the leader on a Drop bar Mountain bike descending the trail like its paved road 🤣. Very Strong People Edit: There's Single Speed people at this race!
Nicely done ride and vid. Gravel/road rider here, so pardon the ignorance, but it seems with the amount of walking that flat pedals and comfortable shoes might’ve been worth it. Too inefficient?

Excellent effort and great video capturing all the important parts of the race. I DNF’d Leadville in 23, spectated in 24 and hope to ride again in 25.

You caught Lance Armstrong at 20:50 in the video. Good job!
That was me walking the bike. My front carbon fiber wheel taco'ed and I was forced to DNF.
Bummer. Next year?
@@robertcatuara5118 YUP!
Ouch!
@@SergioDSandoval hard luck, happened to me once, aluminium rims never since

Excellent video, really appreciated the effort required to complete this race.
Really enjoying your race training and recap videos man! Great work and keep em coming!
Great ride! I was about an hour behind you-had an amazing day. So fun to relive it a bit with your video.
Mr tenasaty! No panic. Congrats on personal success. Great film thanks
Was waiting for your recap! Great job, great vid
Well done. Great effort, ride and story.
That two way course looks so dangerous!!!!
Impressive ride - love your strat!!
Such great videos! Thanks for all the work.
Congrats Bruce, mega effort 👌
Congrats! And thanks for the video.
Loved the build/race format! Thank you and Congratulations! You did amazing!🎉🎉🎉
Congrats Bruce awesome job!
Kudos for clearing the powerline climb, when so many were walking uphill. You can be proud of our accomplishment! Also, good video and commentary.
Amazing following your journey man! Awesome work. Hopefully one day I can do this as well.
Great job, Bruce!

Congratulations on an amazing ride !
Great job on pacing that was very smart. It’s def hard to be disciplined and not get caught up in ego and racing others
LOVE IT!. the horrific music while its pouring. KUDOS!
BTW that guy who was 2nd at the time you mention it (per the Lifetime Grand Prix video) was John Gaston. He ripped that day!
One of the best videos on Leadville that I have watched since 2015! What saddle did you end up using?
Congratulations on finishing. High altitude events are no joke.

Crazy that you didn’t mention you approaching and passing Lance Armstrong at 20:45
Bruce never recognized Lance, insane! I got so hyped just watching the video and immediately recognizing Lance!
How can your guys tell? I passed him too and never noticed him.
One of my buddies passed Lance and chatted with him for a few minutes and then said “see you in the douches” as he rode on and Lance died laughing.
@@XCBen He was under the radar. :D

Well done. Rode with you a bit on the Sugarloaf descent dirt road section. You nailed the pacing strategy, I did the opposite and paid the price.
Nice job ❤🎉
The dude you rub-passed wasn’t holding a line. You did the best you could

Bruce was at gas so hard he started to hear his ancestors @ 26:09.
Thanks for the video, it is awesome! What was your w/kg?
Hmmm...maybe I'll cross this one off my list.
Bro calling 180w a recovery ride with my 62kg ass sitting here with a 240w FTP lmao 😭
88kg 220ftp here… pretty sure i’d be 12 hours on this if i didn’t dnf 🤣
I discovered that caffeine makes me dizzy and light headed at altitude. You might be experiencing the same.
Nice work pretty sure you passed by Lance.

That was me fixing my flat on columbine. The guy in the pink you see around there is my pops

Made me laugh. At the 20ish min mark you're hitting a downhill and pass a guy with WEDU bibs and an orange hydration pack. That was Lance Armstrong
have you heard about heart rate sensors? if you know your heartrate you can pace yourself really good
Using the same double track back down seems waaaay too dangerous to me.
what was your speed back down Columbine?
Bruce- might the guy at the 21 minute 30 second mark had a planetary hub and not a single speed?
How did the Peyotes do?
Did you really say you might have died of exposure from camping in a tent in the rain? 😂😂
Heat and dirt yuck 😅
What kind of cult is this 😅
Hearing about your vomiting makes me think you needed more sodium.
