    Great video but removing the bottom pan is not as straightforward as it seems and if I didn’t read that you added some diesel to the fuel filter I wouldn’t have known. Appreciate you taking the time to produce the video but for a novice like me it’s important to have all the facts.

    I got a pump,absolutely crap ,the pipe has to be tiny to fit ,also if it did work it cannot get all the old oil out.
    I cut a neat square out of under panel and drained every bit of old oil. out ,refit cut panel with cable ties.

    Good video craig, ive changed the oil and reset service interval via the mmi, but I keep getting the "service due" up. Does it need to be reset via a vagcom computor?

      @tmautosstaustellcornwall5882 4 года назад +1

      Yes the inspection service light needs a specialist diagnostic tool to reset as I found out on a A6 I was working on fortunately I have a mate with vag com .

    I have same car and planning on doing a service my self but Audi have told my my car takes 5.2lt oil also when doing the fuel filter did you pre fill the new 1 before fitted to prevent air in the system ?

    • @craigcaffrey6134
      @craigcaffrey6134  5 лет назад

      Hi. The 2 lt Diesel only takes about 4 litres of Oil. Any more and the systems says its overfull. Its best to check your manual for your specific engine. I poured some diesel into the new fuel filter and it started straight away with no issues.

    • @chrisfen3559
      @chrisfen3559 5 лет назад

      Craig Caffrey thanks for reply mine is the same 2.0 Diesel I will check my booklet I was told by reading Audi that my car shows it takes 5.2lt

      @@chrisfen3559 best is put around 4.7l for this engine, hes put only 4 because he dont open the normally oil sump. He Using a pump is and its imposibble to drain all oil with the pump. that why u never should use pump but go underneath the car And drain from bottom and left to drain, in that time change oil filter as will go out more from drain plug oil when you take out oil filter. Only idiots using a pump. And remember to warm as much as possible the engine before drain the oil. More runny oil mean more oil and shit will drain

  • @Bounty-Hunter69

    Very ugly way to change the engine oil. Those 0,5 to 1L which stay left inside in the oil-sump are most dirty and cause straight problem for the new oil-filter. Why not pul up the car and let all oil come out the right way????

    • @craigcaffrey6134
      @craigcaffrey6134  6 лет назад

      Its a fair point. I removed an additional 500 ml using the sump drain.

    • @car_ventures

      The suction method is Audi's service method (quicker and cleaner for dealers, time = money / profit). Takes longer to remove the underpan cover and it also blocks visibility of leaks after sump plug has been unbolted and rebolted. I do spend the extra time taking of the undercover and doing a sump drain - the contaminants sit at the bottom of the pan so an old school sump method can't be beat (for a good quality oil change). Though, the suction method is tempting as it's much quicker and cleaner. Maybe vary them every 2 changes for best of both worlds.

      In reality you always have old oil left in the oil cooler, oil galleries, oil pump etc.
      Take an engine apart for a rebuild that's been drained via the sump plug before being taken out the vehicle and you'll be shocked just how much oil is still in there.
