A rescue operation in North Sikkim's Lachung successfully relocated 64 tourists to Mangan town amid challenging weather conditions. Despite plans for airlifting approximately 1,200 stranded tourists being disrupted by inclement weather, initial progress saw nine tourists transported by road, with an additional 55 joining later in the day. Efforts are ongoing to evacuate the remaining tourists as weather conditions permit.
