Thank you for this video i have a 1 week old baby. How often to sponge bath her at this age dont want her skin to dry out as well and can i use aquaphor all over her body after the sponge bath
Congratulations!! I recommend sponge baths every few days since you are wiping there most important parts clean during every diaper change. I think it is okay to use aquaphor all over, but babies don't usually need that much lotion.
@@birthtoolbox thank you. I noticed a lil blood from her umbilical cord and its lil dry, i try not to make it wet by cleaning it to let it dry out. Is it important to leave it and not clean as much since it looks dry and not wet
If there isn't a foul smell at the umbilical cord then it is likely fine. Keeping it dry and even exposed to the air (without a shirt) is a great thing to do.
Our doctor advised us to clean the umbilical cord with an isopropyl alcohol 3 times a day. Now im a bit confused who to follow. Right now there is a little bit of smell on my baby's cord.
Can we actually take this plastic away after it is dry but still not fallen? Because, for example, my daughter has 8 days old and her ombilical cord is hanging just a little bit but this plastic looks so uncomfortable at this moment. I was just wondering if it can be wrapped with something so that it stays in place till it is ready to come off on its own? Or just take the plastic off and so make it lighter
Just seen your video and am still a bit confused. Our daughter is 12 days old (this is our first baby) and the cord is just hanging on by a little bit. we have noticed a bit of yellow under it (doesn't smell or oozing) but she had some blood on her clothing not a lot tho. my question is: is there any cause for concern about the umbilical cord?

And do i need to clean umbilical cord daily?
My baby cord has smell but its not swollen, no redness, or any signs of infection. Is it normal?
Without the other signs, my guess is that it is okay, but you can always contact your care provider with concerns.
@@birthtoolbox thank you... it already falls off 3days ago.. and i think it perfectly fine... ❤️
Excellent

That used to be the recommendation, but it has been updated. I would keep the area dry and uncovered for a few days.
Same. Many doctors are still recommending to clean it. We cleaned it, the smell went away and it dried and fell off. 🤷🏿♀️

Yes, you should be able to take that off now.
@@birthtoolbox thank you very much for your reply.
It isn’t easy to determine the right way and wrong way to care for a newborn baby’s umbilical cord.
Yes, I hope you found the video helpful!

Without a smell or oozing it doesn't sound concerning to me. When in doubt call her pediatrican, but it sounds normal.
I just wanna yoink it out
Yes! That is a common feeling.
Hi Alice my daughter stump fall at 4 th day .. is it normal?

How soon can I clean it after the cord fell off?
As soon as the stump falls off and it looks dry you should be able to clean it.
