Hi Brett. Thanks for your excellent video on cooking and cleaning a Dungeness crab. There seems to be a few ways people go about killing the crab. I follow the method you've outlined here. Some people take the live crab and break open the shell (as you did after boiling), clean the halves, and then boil the two cleaned halves.

Regarding 4:41, crab gills are known as "dead man's fingers" and hence should not be eaten.
