Finally, I will post a game that I wanted for a long time, but it was very hard to make, due the difficulty of the game. Finally, Athena, arcade game released by SNK in 1986.
I don't know if I can say this game is a classic. I've played it for the first time a long time ago, when the first NES emulators for computers arrived. Since I'm a great fan of SNK and the character Athena, I've played the game until the end, but the game is bad! Graphics, gameplay, difficult... it wasn't fun at all. The arcade version was better, well not so much. Last year, it was released SNK 40th Anniversary Collection and recently bought it and tried to ride Athena's Wonderland again. This time, I found it fun. But still hard as hell.
This Athena is the greek goddess, ancestor of Athena Asamiya from KOF. She was feeling bored and one day decided to enter in a forbidden door that leave her in a dangerous world with monsters and bad guys. To make it worse, she lost her dress and was only with her bikini... To escape, she must gather powerful weapons and armor to destroy Dante, the three-headed monster boss of this game. Yes, that's the story!
After all, Athena is a cute and charismatic character and has a lot of fans out there. After the game Psycho Soldier, the goddess Athena reappeared just in 2003 in SVC Chaos as a secret boss and in NeoGeo Battle Colliseum. In 2006, her platform game gained a sequence, Athena Full Throttle. The game was released just for a japanese mobile called FOMA90x. SNK never released the game for other platform and now, we don't have even an emulator to play the game, that became lost. There's just a little video of gameplay and some screens of the game in the web.
This gameplay was recorded with the PS4 version of SNK 40th Anniversary Collection and of course, I have died a lot! But the video didn't show any of these failures, since I've used a lot of save states too. After this video, I will make other games with the lovely goddess Athena. Enjoy and I see you next time.

I can't decide whether or not this is a better ending than the NES version.

I can't believe with all of the bugs in the Nes version anyone could actually beat it. I never got past the sky level without the game freezing up

Does this version have the flame weapon? I rember getting it on the News frequently, that thing would end anything it touched with a vengeance
