Freeways have a high cop risk and roads like this often have other cars on them during the day. IMO, a night run on a deserted rural road is really the “safe” way to do it. Yeah there is a chance of an animal strike, but you’re not endangering any other motorists.

I have avoided probably 15+ instances of deer, a few instances of elk, a sounder of wild boar, and countless medium/small critters. All on two lane roads, all from dusk to dawn.

One of my routes to Colorado includes a little cut off the main highway in New Mexico to go drive some twisty stuff. I came over a crest at 90mph or so and BOOM, 5-6 deer right at roadside beginning to cross. That event cemented in my mind the need to take it easy on the less traveled of roads. People don't realize that wildlife learns when we are on the road and when we aren't. And hell, in the middle of the night on less traversed roads, they don't even know they are there. They just sprint across and there's no real way to avoid above a certain speed. The less traveled a road is, the higher the risk. It's probably on an exponential scale.
Not to knitpick but I used to have one and could only do 143 so are you rounding up a little or did they change it, either way my supercharged a6 will only do 130
It looks to me like the power is still there at 150. It's probably only electronically limited and not mechanically limited. I think if you could just tune out the limiter, even without fine tuning for more power, you could exceed 150.
Usually F models (of course this isn’t a full F model but they share the same engine) top out at 168… interesting how the limiter is set before peak horsepower arrives in the last gear.

Apparently the American Acura engineers designed it like this on purpose with a super long low hood and enlarged rear in order to mimic RWD proportions and reach BMW 5-Series size. The old adage “A lot of car (or steel) for the money”. Their rationale is that practical car buyers will already be buying the RDX and MDX, so the TLX design will be all style no substance and form over function. The Luxury TLX that is as big as a 5 Series has *less* legroom than a Honda Civic Hatchback.
I think the TLX Type S looks better, but the IS500 smokes it from every measurable aspect, except design and handling. Even interior volume in the TLX is mediocre given its size. And the IS500 is a TRUE Japanese car, the TLX isn't. The G70 & Stinger also compete in the same segment and I think they're pretty cool cars. And like the IS500, they're also fully assembled in their home country.
Imagine if Lexus had just for once offered this engine with a 6MT. My next request would’ve been a rear biased AWD system for all weather traction. Shame we will never get a modern V8 Lexus manual sport sedan
The engine is incredible, and besides the fact that it never wants to downshift into the lowest gear it can the transmission is actually seems pretty good to me. If you want to go fast you just have to shift manually, which doesn't bother me too much.
it is interesting that the tachometer has that pink spot where you are supposed to upshift as in old games. I don't know if it's me or it is not really common for cars to have this but the shift light
It may be slow (compared to existing competitors) but 20 years down the track those competitors will be stuck in the shop, whereas this will keep going to well beyond 320,000km (200,000 miles)
it's not even that slow compared to competitors. Because its not turbo'd and not AWD its 0-60 time suffers, but 30-80mph and other test that actually show a car's true power to weight ratio it's right there with the M340i, and faster than everything else.
I have a '23 IS 500 sport premium in the Atomic silver and black rims.... I get LOTS of people "trying" to take me off the line. Sometimes when I do respond, I hit it and S M O K E them! Almost always they'll come up to me and give me a thumbs up. One guy rolled down his window and said WOW. This car looks very cool but not like an LC500 so I think they're not expecting it when you do smash down the gas. Its so much fun, I love this car.

No it may not be the fastest car on the road but for what it is I would definitely take this over a 392 Charger! Nicer interior, more reliable, and slightly quicker as well! And I really don't think it's a competition in the looks department either, Chargers look good but these IS500s are on another level!

I've learned to kind of ignore specs after the Supra launched with "382hp" and people have dyno'ed it at 376 to the WHEELS (>400hp) maybe it's tuned to be more sedated than the specs make it out to be. Either way I'd consider this car for a fun daily, definitely wouldn't get it to be my "racecar"

Why is the limiter at 150? My 2015 RCF (same engine as this) hits the limiter at 175 MPH (283 KM/H) and feels like it still has another 10-15 MPH to give. Maybe because this car is not advertised as a full blown F model? Seems like the only logical explanation

The GS-F limits to 177mph. With limiter removed it will easily pass 180mph
2015 RCF hits the limiter at 283 KM/H which is 175/176 MPH

I was able to get my 21 is350 up to 144 before I traded it in for the is500. That’s crazy it will only let you go 151mph

@@Idhezie24 Isf was significantly more aerodynamic and the gear ratios are slightly different(in favor of the original ISF for high speed runs)
