I do really like that the interior choices in some brands now include something other than black/steel grey. FINALLY! That alone could entice me to go car shop.
I recently purchased a new 2023 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid FWD & Set of All-Weather Tires for the Winter. And I haven't had a Single Problem with Traction. Boston MA.😊
Hybrid (same goes for PHEV) is the future, not those overhyped and overweight EV. Hybrid wraps in a compact is what most people need and want, as a daily driver. Toyota is the benchmark of how they perfect the concept. Hyundai/Kia and Honda are getting close, in this powertrain department. I can't wait for 2025 Civic hybrid coming to the market, then consumers will have a great comparison shopping between Civic Elantra and Corolla. Also the iconic hybrid: Prius.
Not really, the additional complexity, higher operating costs, and maintenance required for hybrids is one reason to consider an EV, especially as a wider variety of models become available and prices fall. Hybrids are a good solution for many, especially in areas of poor charging infrastructure and for those without home charging
@jamespaul2587 no an ev like tesla is ranked 27 out of 28 for reliability by consumer reports. Then degredation of batteries means a huge bill or thrownrhe car away. A 10-15 year old gas car could be like new not ev batteries
Just a friendly suggestion. Don't be afraid to say something sucks. I noticed you try to redirect to things you like rather than simply stating a feature or material is not good compared to competitors or US variants. Its understandable if you receive a commission on each sale. But if there's no incentive for you to sell the vehicle, I'd much rather you be brutally honest about vehicle offerings. I still really like the information provided and the professional film style. I "liked" the video and subscribed! Looking forward to future reviews
This car is really compelling. I like that it is still a sedan. I would be out looking at one except that my 08 Elantra (manual transmission) still only requires standard maintenance and keeps going. I like the mechanical seat positioner--simple and reliable. Awesome that they have dumped the CVT on the hybrid.
After saw your vid, I decided to get this one. I constantly getting near 60mpg on freeway. It is so quiet and smooth on freeway. I also able to cut the price down 3.5k us dollars on limited hybrid trim and make it so close to blue base trim model price.
I just got mine today. I'm from the US. Bought it for my 15 yr old daughter Hybrid limited. It doesn't have heated steering wheel or garage opener. And no led lights in the cabin. But no big deal I just ordered some LEDs bulbs from Amazon. I'll replace them all next week it's only $16 I'm getting 55 mpg
There's so few allocations for Elantra Hybrid in Canada, good luck actually getting one at MSRP and not waiting ages. This was my first choice when I was looking 2 years ago. I put a deposit for 2022 Elantra Hybrid, they told me it will be 1 to 1.5 year wait time. It was my first experience at a dealership so I signed it anyway and there were 1.3k extra fees added on top. A couple of times they called me to say there's a cancellation but there's even more fees that I must pay if I want it, I declined. 1.5 years actually passed and they still didn't say my car is coming or something, it's pretty clear they just kept bumping me down when another sucker is willing to pay all those extras. Not to mention the 2022 MSRP was actually reasonable, now its up by more than 4k at least. I ended up picking up a 2024 VW Jetta Comfortline, 1.5 months wait time, and MSRP + $500 dealer fee.
It got over board with Nissan and Toyota particularly going on about the looks - I did not even look at the outsides really, told my brother when I was test driving it - ignore the looks it is all about it being a great driver. After I got it a couple weeks took a good look and it was very well done, got lots of compliments - my brother heard kids over the fence - "wow what type of car is that!" and the other kid said "well image a Lamborghini and Hyundai had a baby .. this is that baby".
I think I enjoy your vids over all other reviewers. I would always choose the planetary gear set offered by Toyota if I planned on keeping the vehicle for any length of time at all. It's bulletproof. I would never buy a Toyota hybrid without it being all wheel drive though. I would always avoid turbos.
I just bought this vehicle. There are too many bells and alerts. I realize they are promoting the latest safety features, but... Turn the corner in a double left turn and the car beeps, even though both vehicles are in their own lane. Is it a warning someone is next to me, probably, but in a turn, I knew that. No need to beep. It also has a quiet doorbell. I've tried to read what the doorbell is telling me. The internet states if it is cold out it was a warning there "could be" ice on the road. It was 64 degrees outside. No ice?!? Warnings might be easier to live with if the owner knew what the warning was telling the driver. The car alerts, you look at the dash, and nothing tells you what the car is warning you for. The car could use 2 inches more of head room. If I want my seat as I am used too, my head hits the ceiling. I'm 5' 4". The taller you are, the more you would have to angle the seat back. I owned 3 Prius in the past, but due to the lack of inventory, was unable to compare the newest model with this Hyundai Elantra. Thanks for your reviews. Appreciate it
I love both the interior and the price (for a hybrid). It makes the Accord look expensive and the Corolla look ridiculously overpriced. It is too bad that I could never get used it’s looks… especially from the back. Thanks for the video.
I don't why the Forte didn't get this hybrid powertrain with the 2023 refresh. I have a 2019 Forte and it is plenty fuel efficient, but I hope the next gen Forte sees a hybrid powertrain option.
Nice car but it would be a better value in Canada if they also offered the base model the US gets. The 2024 refresh does clean up the front end and looks better I think and the addition of a six speed dual clutch transmission would put it on the top of my list as I do not want a CVT.
I still haven’t gotten used to this Hyundai design. The 2017-2018 Elantra Sport, at least in the US, was a great looking sedan. I wish Hyundai had stayed with that design philosophy.
i test drive both. I can tell you that on start of acceleration, the elantra hybrid is faster. 0-30 I think, Elantra is so fast. When it is 30-60, Prius gets up fast and pass Elantra acceleration speed. Elantra hybrid blown Prius away in term of cabin space. Elantra is way bigger and so quiet compare with Prius when driving. I feel like squeezing in a can in Prius backseat. After test drive both, I feel Prius only won Elantra by reliability by long term(but again, Hyundai has 10 yrs warranty), and Prius also won Elantra by horsepower by alot. All the turning, space, quiet, and interior design colors, Elantra really blown Prius away. It is just choosing which one you prefer. Reliability+more horsepower VS 10years warranty plus better space, quietness, turning, braking, interior design. I still have my Camry, so I can tell you Elantra space is like so same size with my Camry. I can't really tell the size difference, but two front and back seat space are so similar.
🦃HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY !!, for all the Family Spencer, Hope you have the best dinner, and thanks love the content and yes is better looking this 2024.
The DCT kills this for me (and I'm not crazy about the looks either). Granted, the Corolla Hybrid's interior is a step behind in quality/design, but its eCVT is bulletproof and would be far more reliable than Hyundai's DCT that has caused a ton of issues on other Hyundai models (there's even a class action lawsuit/recall for it). Plus, I prefer the Corolla's exterior and the available AWD. So it would be the Corolla for me if I was in the market for a hybrid sedan.
sighz~ this car cost SGD179k at the moment here in Singapore. But thank you for the video sharing the spec/ fuel consumption. This really help me on my selections.
Stupid people thinking AWD will save them from snowy roads, AWD is only helping if you are stuck, nothing to with traction on road. Have seen idiots spinning in AWDs with all season tired multiple times. Go get good snow tires and you are good to go
Did a lot of shopping around and ended up with the Elantra Hybrid Limited (USA). It's an incredible car and i didn't realize how amazing the wide screen was with Android Auto until i used it. I can't go back to a normal screen ratio! My ONE beef is the "Will they, won't they" game with wireless Android Auto. This car has all the necessary hardware but it hasn't received the software update yet while weirdly enough the 2024 non hybrid and 2023 hybrid already have it. I'm also a bit annoyed it doesn't have the turn signal cameras like the non hybrid even in the highest trim. Guess i have two issues lol
If the wiring harness is there from the factory then you just have to get a driver's seat from a US junkyard and install it. And transfer the cover from yours to the powered one if the colors don't match.
maybe people should get the new 2024 redesigned model, some dealers have them already! you get a few more features plus the whole new look but if you do like this older look, then def get this one
Considering US-Cdn exchange rates, Cdns get a great deal. The one big box not checked for me is reputational reliability and for me instead of a check it's a question mark.
Ah .. I would have gotten one of these .. they had none and were going to let me test drive another model on the used lot that had the "previous generation" of the powerplant. So much going for it. "On Demand AWD" -- what you want for driving in bad snow, it is not so much AWD but more "on demand" ground clearance -- so AWD is nice potentially when the snow is not so bad - but once bad - kind of like being able to toggle traction control - a extra tool but only because you are already in the stew , and would trade "all of that for an extra inch or two of ground clearance any day".
(12:30) Camry doesn't come with hybrid and AWD in Canada. Maybe in 2024 model? Elantra is also quieter than Corolla at over 80Km/h. But, I want quiet cabin with part time AWD.
Hyundai Elantra hybrid Blue. I have owned one for 7 months and 19k miles. The driver's seat is very uncomfortable. I'm 5-10 (not too tall) and yet I have not found the seat position for me. If you are taller you will be even more uncomfortable. So much so I've been impacted by it, I'm considering trading it in. Even my wife 5-4 is uncomfortable... however I get great gas mileage between 56 and 61mpg seating in traffic for hours.
I love that some of the stock driving footage is near the Kia facility in Irvine by my house. I ride my bike over that bridge all the time. …is that “android auto” or “Andrea auto?”
I rented and gas 2023 model earlier this year and I did not like the barrier on the passenger side. Ugly and I didn't see the purpose. I did however find it to be quiet and with sufficient power.
I own this identical car...im in NS .my seats are solid color dark grey, it needs a bit more performance... But fuel economy is gd, 48000km and going great.. The Kingery GT tires though are trash.... Terrible wear quality.
Hyundai needs to change the rear spoiler style. The "Karate chop" style is getting too boring. The new front design made the car look sporty but rear design made the car look imbalance if you look at it from a side.

Great car. Bought the 2023 model 2 months back. Fuel economy is awesome. I get 4-4.5 L/100 km regularly and once got 1.5L/100 km as well.
what was the out the door price?

550 miles per tank?! My 2014 optima gets 515 on a full tank but im sure this Elantra gets wayyy better mpg haha...
the base trim does not come with sunroof or the bose premium sound so stop lying! That only comes on the limited trim!

Sadly, Korean manufactures seem to copy Chinese design/quality standards instead of Japanese ones.
What are you talking about? The king of copyright/patent violation have something worth copying?
Sadly, it uses direct injection that shortens the lifespan of the car.

Their infotainment is the worst most confusing infotainment. Way too many unnecessary gadgets, makes random noises. It’s a headache

Probably a terrific car but the exterior design kills it for me. This car is ugly.
