Beachy Head Cliff Flybys " Eastbourne Airshow 2018 "

- This years Eastbourne Airshow had a tough time with bad weather, friday was the best day, but the organisers and pilots did a great job putting on a good show, and there was still good views of the aircraft from the beach at Eastbourne and up on the cliffs at Beachy Head.

As an Eastbourne resident I get to watch this every year regardless, when the Typhoon goes over it Shakes the house but it's great to watch! Also The red arrows and The Battle of Britain with the Lancaster and Spitfire is absolutely amazing too. We've had shows when we've had the vulkan flying across which was breathtaking, and even a 747 one year! Which got really low and was quite scary! It's an event that Eastbourne is proud to have every year and it does attract a lot of people and brings a lot of business to the town.
The Vulcan was amazing at Eastbourne.

Last time I went to Beachy Head was back in 2015 will never forget the day I saw XH558
Some lovely footage. I haven't been for many years but have great memories of watching from Beachy Head and having the Red Arrows buzz the crowd. Unforgettable.
Great spot to watch the Air Show! Beautiful scenery. The video was really good. The Typhoon is a really cool airplane. That Lancaster and Spitfire looked really good.
I love the Red Arrows, I burst with pride every time I see them.

Went to Eastbourne for the airshow for the first time this year I. Will definitely be back next year, was amazing!!!!
Eastbourne is my home town,lived there since 2016...this year is the first year i have ever missed,but now i can see it

Some of that footage is from this location, I think the merlin engine sound bounces of the cliffs and is amplified, the WW2 aircraft always sound great at this spot.
Struggled Sat and Sun, weather was very poor, made taking images on phones etc almost pointless - great work to capture this much action - thanks for posting

I wasn't able to get there this year but your video gave me all the best bits in comfort. Fabulous footage and I'm really impressed by the smoothness. You must have some gimbal there. Thanks so much for a great video.

I live in Hampden pk, so I'm in Eastbourne a lot. Love camping on the downs and in Lewes.

I was born in general hospital Eastbourne and lived not to far from downtown but sadly me and my family moved to the us
I really have come to the conclusion over the years that the British DNA has incorporated some genetic mutation over the last 3 or 4 generations where upon so many of us have acquired a certain structure in the core of our bones that is just set to resonate from the inside out to the roar of a Merlin engine.

They never tried to stop people watching the airshow from Beachy Head, it’s a very popular place to view from, they just stopped planes flying low over the top of the crowds up there, for safety reasons, plane still fly past over the sea which is totally safe and OK.

Wonkabar007, you need a longer focal length lens as that viewpoint would give you some amazing footage.
Agreed, I was into Sony clear image zoom quite a bit past 30x optical, I think the new Nikon P1000 with its huge zoom,would be very good at this location.

A canon eos 200d with 70-300 ( or larger if the budget allows it ) lens in live view using dual pixel Auto Focus can get some great results

Every year in August. It’s the biggest free air show. I’m lucky enough to live in eastbourne so I’m there every year.
It’s always on Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday around the middle of August and we go to everyday. There is so much going on as well. The seafront from the pier going up to the western lawns is rammed with attractions and stalls. There are places where you can meet the pilots there are flight simulators. Fairground rides and food and drink from around the world.
