    About Michelle In The Meadow
I'm growing on a 1/4 acre suburban lot. I started gardening here 4 years ago and am glad you are here.
We have more than 80 individual fruit trees and shrubs and more than a dozen different kinds of annuals growing on this property. The slopes make for some interesting ways to garden, but we're trying to make the best of it.
On the first Sunday evening of each month (7PM Eastern), I go live on RUclips sharing updates and answering your questions.
If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up and consider subscribing to follow along on all the happenings in my Northeast Florida Zone 9A Garden. Until next time, my friends, remember to drink plenty of water, wear high-quality sunscreen and have a fantastic day.

Love the title of this Michelle! Perfection is an ideal, not a reality!

The three garden beds that you're planning to use for your trees down the back... you can turn them literally into one long garden bed if that's what you want to do, rather than try to screw three together to look like one. All you need to do is remove the corners and side pieces and join the long sides together. You could even use the flat side panels to extend the garden bed to make it a bit longer. You'll be left with some odd corner pieces, but a small stack of corners won't exactly take up a lot of storage space, and you will need to use some braces to stop the beds from bowing. If you can't get the right size braces from Epic Gardening, you can get the legacy style nut and rod bracing systems from most hardware shops, they just may not be the stainless steel that Birdies uses, more likely will be zinc coated, but will still last a long time.

Oh, that is a tremendous suggestion. Thank you. That actually could help me extend the beds a little too using the ends or even make another garden bed. 🙃

As for your three large beds, maybe just have the two legacy beds with more space between them in that spot, and then put the new one someone else entirely? It's not as if you have a tiny yard with no space to play with. Given time you'll be getting more beds, and you know it, they're kind of addictive aren't they! 🤣 So maybe the big next gen bed could be the start of a whole new section of garden bedding that you can add more to later. ? Ultimately, it's your garden, your choice, that's just how I'd do it if I had your yard.

Thank you so much. Lots to think about for sure. YES they are addictive.

Sweet potato seed suggestion: DON'T DO IT! See my video "Welcome to the Jungle". After three months away, the sweet potatoes from seed covered my ENTIRE GARDEN and never produced a tuber.
But seriously, since those vines probably grow tubers it might be interesting to try growing some seeds. I was going to try that this year but the vine that started flowering stopped and didn't produce any seeds. And now I need the space for tomatoes. I learned a lot from that experiment but most of it was about why we grow them from slips.
In any case, I'd be happy to share what I learned.

Thanks, Jack. I guess the first thing I need to learn is looking for the seed/pod. And then I'll try it in a grow bag. I did see your monster vines. That might be ok in the fruit guild. ;) maybe it will help push back the grass and dollarweed.

@@michelleinthemeadow I learned a lot from the LSU Ag Ctr (on YT) - look for Dr LaBonte.
I did a short specifically showing the seed pods - round about the size of a green pea.
In any case, they make great ground cover and you can eat the leaves & stems.

Man, that avocado 🥑 tree just does not know what to do with itself, haha. Thanks for the garden update! I appreciate your simple explanation of the zone change ordeal. It can be confusing for newer gardeners! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving full of love and good food! I'm not celebrating until Monday, but it will be worth the wait!

The avocado does not have a clue what's in store. So glad you liked the update. It was a long one catching up on everything.

Love the update tour as always 😊The dragon fruit is looking great, thanks for the info on that. I was wondering how you like your magic mix, guess it’s pretty awesome!
Does your comfrey get afternoon shade all year?

I'm really happy with the magic mix. The pansies are exploding. The comfrey gets full sun in the about 8 months of the year.

Great update tour! I am catching up on your videos. @ 52:35 on your avocado tree you have what looks like some type of red berry or red something else. It is towards the top right of the tree on the video. Maybe I need to get my eyes checked!😎🤣Hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving!
