Playing as an 11 rn I get out at UBC 15 times a year. Awesome to see two great golfers go after this course from 6400y. The camera does not do the first four greens justice. They are menacing approaches that funnel to a hopeful 2 putt. Love seeing the Vancouver content and how you strategize around the city courses! Keep it up
That five iron swing was one of your better swings I've seen you hit on your channel on hole number two. All your other shots have such a long backswing that you struggle to get any power getting back to the ball. My two cents is to shorten your swing for more distance.
Love the videos Adam, keep up the great work! As a fellow Canadian I envy the fact that you're getting to play in the winter, so I'm living vicariously for now :)
I am only an 11 handicap but my swing looks better than my scores. This is just my opinion but you’re either not flexible enough or you are creating “fake speed” so you allow the hands and club handle to continue around your body while you start to rotate towards the ball. I think this is why makes your backswing look so weird. Try almost pausing at the top before starting down and towards the ball. There is a such thing as over rotation and it’s not necessary….
When you bring your camera along to film a video on the course, do you try and book the whole time slot or do you just hope the other players are okay with it?
Lol Paul talks to the ball the whole time its moving. Very animated guy, has to be a fun playing partner. Seems like Adams driving was better in this round than in past rounds.
Haha when I shorten it up I tend to hit it worse. Have had a lot of pros try to fix a lot of things in my swing over the years (I stubbornly refuse to practice), and the consensus seems to be that the overswing is low on the list of things to address for whatever reason.
The difference in driving distance reminds me of me playing against my longer hitting friends. But I’m a few strokes behind in handicap still. Have to keep it tidy within 100 like you say and I hope to narrow the gap that can’t be closed by distance off the tee it seems.
Just as a general question, do u actively work on your swing and trying to make it more efficient? You get pretty good results but even cutting ur backswing down to 3/4 would get u to a lot better dispersion I’d bet, Ik you know your swing tho, love the content!
Hey Tom! I don't really like to practice, to be completely honest. It absolutely prevents me from becoming a much better golfer. It's a weird thing - I seem to dislike practicing as much as I love playing. And sorry to make an example out of you, but I think it's really important that amateurs get feedback from professionals and not other amateurs. The rare times I do take lessons, I always ask about my driver overswing, and every last time I've been told that it's extremely low on the list of things to change in my swing. It sure looks ugly, though :p
@@NotAScratchGolfer the match the whole golfing world is waiting for!! Haha… unfortunately i am in SK and then in the UK for 3 weeks, back Mid Feb.. then we need to schedule this matchup :)
Great video. This is more of a compliment, but your swing does not look 'perfect'. However, you make it work. Do you have any advice for someone like myself who gets too analytical trying to create a perfect swing? What clicked for you in order to shoot low scores like this? I can't even seem to break 90 no matter how much I practice.
His putting is much much better than most rec golfers, and while his swing is not beautiful he hits the ball with a square clubface the vast majority of the time and knows his distances. His worst misses are fats with mid irons which add a stroke here and there. You can play good golf doing that.
Hey! That's Paul the Punter! Haha.. that's crazy. I saw that he was moving from mountain biking to golf. I was starting to do the EXACT same thing. Moving from my mountian biking channel of MTB TRAIL RIDER to this golf channel JJ_Golf. Really cool to stumble on this.
@@NotAScratchGolfer Yea he does a great job with all his video editing. Enjoyed watching this. Looking forward to seeing more of your content too now that I found you.
If your in Southern California Palm Springs area again, you've gotta play Mission Lakes County Club... gotta be the best hidden gem in the desert. It's my home course and I'll be your gide...
Solid play to get to +2, Paul's blow-up hole is what really stands out, or it could have been a healthy deficit for you to chase him down on the back, otherwise it's a horse race, cheers
I can't decide whether to make this new WITB video. I'm basically of the opinion that my new fully fitted set of clubs didn't move the needle in my game whatsoever (not that I necessarily expected them to - I just thought it was time for a proper set of golf clubs). So I don't know if I want to play into the whole "here's why I got fitted and you should, too" thing. I might put up some pics in a Community post, though!

Nice shirt bro. No way you’re a 6 handicap though. Please also fix your divots. Unless it’s not your home club then who cares?
Where can people get shirts like that? :p
Loved how Paul called the walk-in on #2 and nailed the 60 footer.
It's difficult to describe what a fabulous putt that was. Such a difficult green. And yeah, Paul knew it when it still had 15' to go!
Thanks for displaying the driving distances, it makes it easier to relate.
Glad to hear you liked 'em. Always appreciate this type of feedback, thanks!
Just wanna say, loving your content, fast paced, great commentary on the mindset between each shot, and no nonsense. Keep up the great work.

What tracer app do you use?
That second hole birdie was insane the break on that green is crazy
I'm really enjoying the target highlighting. Nice to see the plan before the shot.
Thanks! I'll do more of it!
Honestly, y’all are good golfers. Accept it.
Is the tee shot on 4 as tight as it looks on video? Cripes, my knees got weak just watching that.
Yes! + the teebox is uneven. It's probably the most intimidating tee shot in Vancouver!

Good advice, here.

Haha thx. Got out on the course this week, although this footage was actually shot earlier this season.
Driver was on fire this day!
It pulled a bit of Jekyll and Hyde act. It fell to piece son the back 9 (video link in the description)!
Love the video man, keep it up 😍
Thanks!
Enjoyed watching your contrasting styles and distances to the same score. Made me want to go practise my short game this arvo ⛳️😎
Awesome. Easiest place to shave strokes!

I was completely shocked when Paul turned around and it was Paul the Punter!
Crossover episode!
You hit more GIR in 5 holes than I do in an entire round! lol
Loving the vibes from Paul
Good golfer, great guy, greatest video editor. I love his vid documenting our back 9.
what a beautiful course~ lots of big trees.. that's quite different from where I am playing in Texas. Great video~ thanks.
Glad you enjoyed! I love this course - beautiful parkland track nestled amongst some old growth forest.
Good shooting! Paul seems like a super nice guy, I’ll definitely check out his channel.
Awesome! His back 9 vid is 10x the video this one is.
Paul has a beautiful swing
It's gotten considerably better since this round, too. He's grindin' hard!
Some really nice shots and a couple good front 9’s.
Thanks!

I don't think there are links in the description for Paul's channel.

Paul’s putt on the second was one of the most insane birdies I’ve seen from all my time watching golf !
Paul's a class act
Knows how to edit a video, too! The back-9 vid on his channel is aspirational for me as a creator.
Awesome match guys, fun to watch!
Thanks!
These are fun to see! What does your driver do when you don't swing so far back? It hurts me to to watch you bend your back like that :D

Glad you enjoyed, and hope you get out there soon!
What a match it was! Go check out Paul's channel!
Good advice here
Hellaputt for the bird on 2 Paul!
Unreal putt. That green is a nightmare.
fellow canadian here. Never played in Victoria. What’s a good course to play in Victoria for a 15 handicap for a nice stress-free day in beautiful BC?
Cordova Bay is awesome
A match would include long un-cut video scenes if it looks honest.
Nice Golf course!
Lol. And yeah, we're lucky to have this course in Vancouver.
Damn what a make on hole 2...!
And the camera can't do justice to that green. Best holed putt I've seen this season.
Great episode as always, always chill positive vibes!
Thanks :)

Adam, we the same distances! Any info on the golf trip?
Hey, man! Stay tuned. We're still pouring through survey results (200+ responses on the first day). We'll have some more info by months' end!

Punted his way to the golf course.
I want Paul to replace his 2 iron with a 5 wood
I think he bags one at the moment.

For sure! Blow up holes are so costly, and this vid highlights it for sure. Paul easily could have been under par on the front.
I think you need to bring the club more inside
See, this is the type of roasting I love!
You'd also still smash me in golf anyways 🤙 keep it up man
5 iron on the par 3 was flushed
Yeah, definitely a rare pure iron strike for me!
good beaujolais joke, good vid, good golf
Those fairways look like bowling alleys
Yeah the course is tight in places. That tee shot on the 4th hole is very, very tough.
Great 9 for both of yoos, fun looking course! I don't think 6i is considered a long iron though, but maybe it is for some!
Most rec players don't bag anything longer than a 5i these days.
@@ZiPolishHammer - True, but to be fair that doesn't make it a long iron. It makes it one of their longest irons. Long irons are typically 2-4.
@@ikigai47 I agree
The longest iron I carry is a 5-iron (which probably has the loft of a traditional 4-iron), so tough to say how to best classify my set's 6-iron...
