  • Mobile phone footage of my visit to the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway (La'al Ratty) on the 11th July 2022.
The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is a 15 in (381 mm) minimum gauge heritage railway in Cumbria, England. It is affectionately known as the La'al Ratty by the local community. The 7-mile (11.3 km) line runs from Ravenglass to Dalegarth Station near Boot in the valley of Eskdale, in the Lake District. At Ravenglass the line ends at Ravenglass railway station on the Cumbrian Coast Line. Intermediate stations and halts are at Muncaster Mill, Miteside, Murthwaite, Irton Road, The Green, Fisherground and Beckfoot. The railway is owned by a private company and supported by the volunteers of a preservation society.
The video features steam locomotives "River Esk" (Black liveried 2-8-2 built by Paxman of Colchester in 1926), "Whillan Beck" (Blue liveried 4-6-2 built by Krauss of Munich in 1929) and "River Mite" (Red liveried 2-8-2 built by Clarkson of York in 1966).
Includes journey within Observation Car "Joan" built by Boston Lodge Works in 2021.

A fantastic railway, went on it last a few years ago now, but still one of my favourites. Thanks for sharing, looks like you had glorious weather on the day of travel.

Went past there once, with a steam railtour. Never got the chance to go back, though.
