I was 20 years old when 'Time' came out in 1981. I've had 41 years to enjoy the album, and I still love it after all this time. If you want to continue with the album 'Time', there is the B-side single not on the album called 'Julie Don't Live Here', which is one of my all time favorite ELO songs. So I wish you a Happy Birthday Tyler, and here's to 40+ more years for you to enjoy 'Time' as well.
I was 20 in 1981 too and sad to say never heard this album. Made up for it now. Happy birthday Tyler.

At one point or another every track eventually became my favorite song for a time.
I knew you’d love this one, my favourite off the album. Make sure you continue to listen to Epilogue after the next track Hold on Tight, you’ll see why. I’d suggest going back a bit to Eldorado another concept album, pure orchestral rock with some typical Jeff Lynne ballads thrown in.

Happy birthday, Tyler ❤️ Jesus - 21, enjoy your time 🤗 I was 17 when I first listened to this album. That may be just another reason why I like it so much. It always takes me back to my late schooldays, the dreams I had back then and all that stuff. And I often thought about "I'm going to enter the 21th century at 35. Where will I be then?" Such a perfect album for those thoughts.
Other standout tracks: Here Is The News, Rain Is Falling, Ticket To The Moon.
Yours Truly, 2095 really sets the stage for the future tech. His girlfriend is also a telephone made by IBM.
Wish I was back in 1981. 21st century, life got complicated. Remember the good old 1980's. When things were so uncomplicated. I wish I could go back there again. And everything would be the same. " The Way Life's Meant To Be and Ticket to the Moon shout out.
Hope you finish the album. Hold on Tight is the last song plus an epilogue.
I was 15 years old when this album came out. I have listened to it 100's of Time. It is one of my most favorite albums.
I found this album back in 1981, I was 15 years old....I am still a hardcore ELO fan today at 57 yrs old.....in my opinion, no band has come close to the genius masterpieces of Jeff Lynne ❤️🎶😁
The first time I heard Twilight on the radio I knew this album was going to be a big part of my life once I bought it.
This is my favorite tribute song to John Lennon. It is about John's passing. Jeff went on to produce "Free As A Bird" using unused recordings of John's voice and the remaining Beatles.
Love Tylers reaction on the bridge part. You stepped out of a dream believing everything was gone. Return with what you've learnt they'll kiss the ground you walk upon. The 1st time I watched the video I waited 2 c how he would react on that part. Awesome reaction, Tyler!

All of the other songs on the album are from the point of view of 1981-guy, but this one and Epilog are from the standpoint of the time travelers/kidnappers.

I adored this album as a teenager when it came out in 1981. It was the very first time I asked for music for Christmas and so Dec 1981 I got both ELO - Time and REO Speedwagon - Hi Infidelity. I was set for great music that I actually owned for the next 6 months. ELO's Greatest Hits was the very first album I bought with my own money which was that summer.
7:21 It's played backwards between "Twilight" and "Yours Truly, 2095"!
Make sure after "Hold on Tight" you let it continue with "Epilogue".
3rd favourite ELO albu especially the remastered extended edition wit Julie Don't Live Here anymore.
The audio between 21st century man and hold on tight was the same audio between twilight and yours truly, 2095. Not @ the end of rain is falling.
The interlude before the next song is the same interlude after Twilight: it's a portion of 21st Century Man backwards.

I would add that the song Xanadu is literally ELO with Olivia singing.
I grew up with ELO, Abba, Sweet, Suzi Quatro, Runaways, Blondie, Kiss, you name it. Great times, great music. 👊🌟👍

I bought this album when it came out. In my mind , it became a movie about a man who is accidentally transported from 1980 to 2095. The scientists that transported him don't know how to get him back, so he's stuck there. All the songs starting on side A, and following in order tell the story. Should be made into to a movie.(maybe some day)

The last seconds of the song are the same chorus of this song played backwards. And it first appears on the transition from Twilight to Yours truly

Growing up in a time when this music was made was just a gift and a privilege. We were lucky to be teenagers when these wonderful compositions premiered. Envy us! (Im '64). I am also glad that a huge number of today's youth, including my children, who listen to this music today, can enjoy it and appreciate its uniqueness.
