    Thank you Mike. It is good to hear you say " Don't Jake the fish ". This coming from a guy who would start his hook set at the front of the boat, and finish it sitting on the motor is a major improvement. It is good to see/hear you are not all show.

    I've always appreciated Mike more then most guys on the tour. I am not sure why. Maybe because he reminds me of a younger me. I got his book also. It was a fun read.

      Actually, it was shot at the convention center during ICAST....not a mall food court. If you watch carefully, you see his wife and kids in the background.
      It was the only place we could find where we weren't interrupted every 2 minutes.

    Thanks for the video. There’s one aspect of fishing a drop shot rig that I don’t get and hope that either you - or one of your subscribers who have experience using it - can explain. I thought that the technique is for fishing vertically, either from a boat or a pier or breakwater etc. from dry land. However, many pro anglers suggest that it can be cast out and, not only that, but fished in fairly shallow water. This I don’t understand, because the main line is not going to be perpendicular to the water, it’s going to be at a minimum of 45 degrees - if not more. Consequently, the lure will not be ‘swimming’ anywhere near horizontally in the water column - but either pointing down at a steep angle towards the bottom or upwards at a steep angle towards the surface. This strikes me as being a most unnatural presentation and would not fool a bass or, indeed, any other predatory fish! So, what am I missing? Help please!

    Drop shot fishing is my primary method of fishing however, when everyone else is drop shotting around me, they are not catching anything, and are only losing their bait. Me, I will throw my bait out there, let it sit there for a few minutes, and then slowly reel it back in. When I feel a bite, I will stop and let the bait settle back down. When I feel another bite I will slowly reel it in to entice a fish to strike (oh no, I need to attack that food before it escapes). This method works all the time. I usually catch fish when everyone else is not catching anything, all they are doing is giving free food to the fish.

      That’s a good tip as well, Michael R. Foreman. Thanks for sharing.

      Thank you. I have seen me be the only one catching fish using this method. It works with everything from worms to swim bait etc. But, if I just throw it out there, and never move my bait. No fish.

    hey Ive been asking around a lot about the drop shot setup and I've been wanting to know if the drop shot can be used with a slip bobber?

    • @bassresource
      @bassresource  8 лет назад

      +joe z I wouldn't recommend it. The whole purpose of the dropshot is to keep the bait near, but not on, the bottom. A bobber, by design, will keep a bait near the surface.

    • @fr3aky0u
      @fr3aky0u 8 лет назад

      right, but if you know the depth couldn't you use a bobber to keep the bait suspended? so it doesn't fall to the bottom?

    • @fr3aky0u
      @fr3aky0u 8 лет назад

      er i guess elaztech would work too, right?

    • @hondaman991
      @hondaman991 8 лет назад +1

      Ohhh those look nice! I didn't know what elaztech was till I researched it, heck yea I think those will work I don't see why they wouldn't. And I have a slip float dropshot setup and it work very nicely on calm days and when the water is not rippled.
