JOHN FARNHAM A TYPICAL WELSHMAN WITH A TOUCH.OF AUSSIE TALENT A TRUE AUSTRALIAN TREASURE AND LEGEND !!! . YOUR'E THE VOICE : WHO'S LISTENING IN 2024 !!! ...
Used to call him "Johnny Far-out" at home coz he would always blow us away with his voice. What a blast going down memory lane. The Voice will never die in Australian History.
My aunt and uncle from Australia gave me this album on a cassette when they visited the Netherlands. JF was not known over here so I think I became his first Dutch fan. Great album and great introduction into Aussie music 😁
It was great growing up in the 80's listing to the music of John Farnham, and also Bruce Springsteen. John Farnham had that unique voice that sounded *even better, when he sang Live.* Even though his studio recordings and albums where to the highest class of sound mix. John's pretty much pitch perfect. He put Australia back on the worldwide map, in terms of proper musical talent. Great voice ...
I bought this album in '87 when no one in the USA knew who John was. I have been a fan ever since. If I could sing like anyone, it would be like John Farnham. I saw him with LRB in '85 a few days before I left before USMC boot camp.
Another of Australia's best singers who should've had more success in the UK alongside Tina Arena, Vanessa Amorosi, Human Nature, John Paul Young and Jimmy Barnes.
I'm 54. Before this came out 'Johnny Farnham' as he was known before this was considered a joke. I remember seeing this on tv & thinking, "Hey this is pretty good.' It really is one of the greatest comebacks in Aus TV history.
Rip my sis /cuz. When we were kids,. Trace myself and my sister cilla did a pretty cool dance to this song I loved my solo part ❤️ twisting turning and kicking legs like a ballerina. Great memory to this song Thank you for your entertainment john Fareham. ❤ forever😢 RIP 🙏 trace .
This song is perfect to play wen people are under pressure. The song always comes me down if I’m under a lot of pressure. So thank u John not only for bringing but to being the singer
Man my mum loved John Farnham's songs... she'd always listen to him (she didn't really understand the lyrics being a new Australian), we'd watch It's a Knockout, Hey Hey it's Saturday, and she'd always watch Sale of the Century. Miss those shows...Good times!
It’s a Knockout, that’s the name of the game! That takes me back to Gold Coast holidays in the 80s. Something about the colour of that show, looked very much like the Gold Coast theme parks of the era. Hope your mum is doing well!
Love this song and video clip. It has robots, monopoly, horses, wrestling, winners, losers.. all symbols of our life under pressure to succeed through our careers. This optimistic song tells us to take control of the wheel of life and live a balanced life. Regulate your life's pressure and keep smiling people!
In my humble opinion, the best voice ever on a solo male artist. Why this man didn't triumph overseas, apart from You're the Voice, I will never understand.
@@jj-if6it But that was before You're the Voice was released, when it was released along with the album John came back to the UK which was his native county as You're the Voice did incredibly well and performed it on Top of the Pops and considering he was born in Dagenham Essex, he came back to the UK to do a number of concerts, he did two tours in London, the Age of Reason tour in 1988, the Chain Reaction tour in 1991, and he did a show at Shepherd's Bush Empire in 1998. He also performed in front of Charles and Diana at the Prince's trust rock gala in Birmingham in 1989. He also performed on Age of Reason on Terry Wogan's show in 1988.
He spent years (1982-1985) in the US as lead vocalist of Little River Band and had US #11 (The Other Guy), #22 (We Two) and #35 (You're Driving Me Out Of My Mind) hits with them. They thought Playing To Win would be another, but it peaked at #60. He also had some solo movie soundtrack songs in those years.
Ah not even close. Have you heard The Weekend? Farnham is good, He's not great. Go listen to Don Van Vliet or Jon Andersen. They make Farnham sound like an amateur. Leo Sayer has a better voice.
My teacher Mr Mcguinity used to play this song several times a day every day for the year (and meatloaf I'd do anything for love). And now I listen to that because he was a great teacher and part of my good old days.
I remember going to a school excursion in the late 80's and we went to a recording studio where this song was recorded. The studio producer said that Pressure Down was done in there and he said the big drum beat before he sings Set the wheels in motion, instead of a drum, they used the sound of a Porsche door being slammed. It was a cool song back in the day I remember one Saturday after cricket in under 12's most of my team sang this song all into my Walkman. Not sure I still have the recording, but the memory is still there. It can't be erased. Good times. Great song!
How does this guy have little subscribers compared to Jimmy Barnes or Daryl Braithwaite? He is right up there with them for me! I grew up listening to him, love ya Farnsey 💙 god, my dad raised me with some great music!
Attended the John Farnham documentary movie yesterday. A sad, moving and inspiring documentary of his life (so far) And his mateship with Glen Wheatley. Go and see it. 😢😢🇦🇺🇦🇺
As an Aussie, living in New York for the last five years, I'm singing the f*&k outta this as I pack my suitcase to take my American husband back home to see the family and watch my kid brother get married!!!! AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!!!!!

The fact that it was Farnsey AND a cassette…..❤ honorary Aussie.
Agreed. Awesome. grew up in Australia but have a Dutch background. He is a great representative of Aussie music.
This is probably his best song
That's great Australian actor Frank Thring in the video!
I just can not get enough of that mid to late 80s mullet. They had a competition there to out mullet each other, Barnsey and Farnsey
It was great growing up in the 80's listing to the music of John Farnham, and also Bruce Springsteen.
