I’m starting to think the actual target audience of “adult cartoons” aren’t adults at all, but teenage edgelords whose definition of comedy is being as outrageous and disgusting as possible
Agreed.
100% true.
It's been this way since Family Guy was revived from cancellation the second time.
@@motxmod I wish family guy clones would copy the first few seasons but instead they insist on copying the worst aspects of the modern version of the show. Why are there so many shit family guy clones. It's like copying zombie simpsons and then being confused when your show fails.
Yeah, you'd be correct.
Am I the only one who thinks that lot of “kids”-cartoons are more maturely written than most adult oriented cartoons?
No, you aren't
No, my dear. Most children cartoons have very mature themes
no, you're absolutely right.
@the hevy You sound like the kind of guy who unironically thinks racist jokes, constant swearing, and gore is Leh mature and complex. Do you happen to watch family guy, by chance?
Define "mature"
I find it very ironic that (most) cartoons geared towards adults are often the ugliest, most immature pieces of crap ever put out into the world, whereas cartoons 'meant for' children are often better written, are actually diverse in their art styles and animation, and can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of age.
very interesting point.
Exactly, shows like Avatar the last airbender, or Steven Universe, seem more mature, than the other so-called “adult” cartoons like Mr Pickles, Allen Gregory, etc. It honestly feels insulting that no effort is put into these shows and the writers just rely on repeated swearing, racist jokes, and fart noises.
And people wonder why more and more adults watch children's cartoons
Literally! Even We Bare Bears was super entertaining over Hulu’s the Duncan’s or w.e. It’s called✋🏽🙄
@@princenadroj9766 Did u honestly say Steven Universe with ur chest? They ruined the show in the later seasons.

As an American, I can wholeheartedly assure you…NO. No we are not.

Are you also a woman that follows reality shows? Because I'm sure that's the target audience.
If we were? Trust me. Y'all would know about it. It would be filled with so much South Park and Big Mouth antics you would think they got lost in some sort of lame Scooby Doo cartoon that doesn't even have an animal. It looked like the show got too much caught up in so much UK Humor or British Humor that it really forgot what is satirized in the United States. That has to be explained to the audience. If a joke has to be explained? Then it is probably not a joke. So therefore? That is a well-deserved shot from a US audience that just doesn't get it. Because why should they?

"Adult cartoon" now just means "ugly artstyle and crude for the sake of crude written for 15 year old edgelords"
It's funny how "adult cartoons" tend to appeal more to teenagers than adults. Everyone I knew in high school watched stuff like Family Guy and American Dad, and now none of them do.

I haven't seen 1 "adult" cartoon that doesn't have a shitty child like art style... Shows like Avatar the last airbender has better and more mature art, storytelling and action than almost all "adult" cartoons. The exception seems to be invincible.

As someone who actively dislikes the royal family, don't bring up the kids to this. They didn't deserve this.
Especially now since these kids have lost their great grandmother; well we can thank the Queen for one final act before she passed away; making sure this atrocity never sees the light of day ever again with a second season
apparently prince george threatens kids at school with "watch out, my dad will be king one day" so now he deserves it lol
Exactly, they don't deserve to rule over us peasants just because they won the birthing lottery.
I agree. I think monarchy is soo outdated in this century but bullying little children is so disgusting. I know that there are some terrible people in the royal family like Prince Andrew or Princess Michael of Kent but I don't understand how these things give people the right to slag off little children. These children are real people, they will have an active education throughout their lives and this stupid show might have a negative effect and make their lives worse by ostracizing them from their peers. And I know that they're rich and privileged as hell but it still doesn't change the fact that they are real people who have real lives and on top of that they're minors. If they had created new fictional characters it wouldn't be a problem but using real people, especially children, as a joke should be off-limits for any decent person because these children aren't in a place to defend themselves, not yet. And also it seems like the pedobear Andrew has more immunity than toddlers. That sumps up the whole show actually.

naw...idk if you've ever read the comic but they're making an animated show for Lore Olympus. that shit is gonna be a mess.
I hate that parodies use disclaimers to shield themselves from criticism. Using a disclaimer for legal reasons is completely understandable, but the whole "please don't bully us snowflake" part is hypocritical when the entire show is basically bullying real children who can't understand what's going on.
The disclaimer doesn't work it's like they came up with it FIRST then decided to write the jokes because some of these "jokes" are bad
It has made me ask the question, does anyone even know what George’s and his siblings’ personalities are like at all? I know next to nothing on this matter so makes me disturbed how adults are inserting personalities into people that are real, which is ironic as the disclaimer makes that the characters in the show are fictional. 😐

I honestly have no idea why they would make this specifically for an American audience. Especially considering most Americans who follow the British Royals _like_ them.
They do?
@Vish B you didn’t know the fucking fallout ghoul had a following?
@Vish B Eh... it's more like how other countries view America. We don't really think about them until they make headlines... or unless you read People magazine.
We do?
@Vish B Americans in general love foreign countries and cultures. Britain hits a particular soft spot because we not only have a shared history and language but British culture is depicted as cool and refined in American media. The US love for the royal family is a combination of a fanaticism over celebrities and the alure of old England.
This is my problem with adult cartoons like this, where there is no clever or interesting writing or funny jokes. It is replaced with gratuitous swearing, gross out and violence. E.G paradise pd, brickleberry, Mr pickles, etc
This. All of this. A big aspect of character-writing, even for comedy is restraint. What are these character's boundaries?
Well paradise pd and brickleberry were made by the same people

People loved Stewie because the character had actual depth to him, he’s not just some jerk baby. Well, prior to a later season anyhow.

Bad mouth was a success so they want that piece of pie
They're cheap and writers can get away more easily with stringing together 15 second gags without any semblance of a plot.
At least this one wasn’t really promoted, so no one has to know
That’s usually how I can tell a new comedy show will be bad. Executives seem to think if they over promote a show, it will draw people in to watch the show. What they fail to realize is people will probably not tune into the show for the second episode.
Like most trends, the studios caught on too late. 15 years ago "adult" cartoon sitcoms were mostly decent, Family Guy was okay, the Simpsons was watchable, Futurama was making bank with re-runs on Comedy Central, etc.
But they waited until like the mid 2010s to start churning out rip-offs.
I’m certainly not against satirizing public figures (I.e. Presidents, Prime Ministers, Monarchs, etc.), I think the children of those people should be off limits.

Sir Terry Pratchett once explained the difference between writing for adults and for children. For one you write about serious topics with clear moral messages, and the other is for adults.
Name 4.
Pulled that out of your ass.
My biggest issue with this pile of a show, besides it being not funny, and downright boring, is the fact it makes fun of real children who didn’t sign up for this. Family guy, South Park, The Simpsons etc make fun of kids, but they are all fictional kids based on people the creators knew from their childhoods. This show takes actual children who cannot defend themselves and pisses all over them. Orlando bloom is the voice for Prince Harry, he and Katy Perry are very strict about the privacy of their daughter, yet he had no issue participating in this mess that violates the privacy of other people’s famous children? I don’t get it.
I dont think it particularly violates their privacy since none of this is based on actual events or specifics, just representing actual people in an incredibly bad taste way. It's not like george himself is being filmed or present for any of this, which is the one good thing I can think of about this show.
@@Timeward76 I think it does actually violate the privacy of these kids. They are already in the media spotlight and things like this might escalate that attention. Also, they may experience increased online bullying because of this, and they still have to attend school where they may be bullied for their portrayals (real or not).
@@Sonnie-uw9sw I hadnt thought of that angle. Thats a fair point.

I feel like it'd be funnier if they had the royal fam only be vulgar in private. The queen doesn't cuss and/or burp in front of ppl she, always acts perfectly. To see her go from her 'vulgar/normal' self to her queenly self would IMO not only provide more scenarios for humor but also in general be funnier than just watching her cuss around like a normal person.
There’s snl skits with that concept
Futurama's Mom is a great example of how this can work very well
Considering that Queen Elizabeth regards the Windsors more as a "Business" than a family, I think it would have been funnier and smarter if they'd treated her like a mob boss, and as mentioned, hold back on the swearing but bring it out occasionally to show the ruthless side. I mean, if you're going to pull jokes about Phillip dying, you may as well be equally douchey include the Dianna conspiracies.
Imagine the Queen taking a rifle from a beefeater and gunning down someone who annoys her, and no one can stop her because she's the Queen.
That would actually be a really funny idea
Hell, a comedy show about the Queen being a mob boss with the British monarchy being portrayed as racist (considering the funk the press made over Harry marrying Meghan that could make for a good joke if they do it right) would be pretty funny too.
@@eatatjoes6751 I think it could also be funny if they didn't portray the family as racist but the press surrounding them racistly trying to paint Meghan in a bad light but actually making everyone believe the family is racist. Everything they do makes it worse due to classism, bad communication, ignorance and arrogance. It could be a fun mirror to the British public (I don't meant to defend the family but this way I think it could have more impact on the
audience , if it were meant for Britain) but still with Grandma Mobboss the Queen lol
It occurs as though half this comment section can write a better show. The bar has been set low enough.
That would be entertaining. Like “The Sopranos” but untouchable. Meghan and Prince Harry want out the business but they’ve already been made. Prince Charles and Camilla want to advance but everyone is so loyal to the Queen and the late Lady Diana that they can’t find anyone in England to work with them. Her words: "It's (expletive) creepy that grown old men taking pictures of a baby without their permission. I'm sickened, I'm disgusted and I'm respectfully asking everyone to stop following us around and stop trying to take pictures of our daughter and especially printing them"
EDIT: because some of you are missing the point. I am not equating the invasion of Willa's (Sophie's daughter) privacy to the mockery of the royal children on the show. I am merely saying it is hypocritical how Sophie had been so publicly protective of her daughter, someone who was innocent and never chose this life but was subjected to this, and yet participated in a show whose main premise is mocking the children of the royal family, who are similarly innocent and never chose this life either. I didn't think this was too difficult to understand, but if you must require such details and try to debate me on specifics, you are missing the point.

I’m an American and I can honestly say that I’ve enjoyed British shows’s parodies of the Royal Family (mainly Spitting Image though) WAY fucking more than I enjoy a single second of this show. I can not believe that Family Guy clones are STILL being made, when it is very clear that everybody who isn’t paid to make them fucking HATES them!
@@Slippin_Jimmy1012 The sheer amount OCP got wrong with confidence is hilarious. Spitting Image kept more on the nose… that being said I think The Windsors is probably my favorite Royal parody
@@zandaroos553 The Windsors is hilarious, and not disrespectful towards the Queen. Also the privacy of the children
Agreed
Yet another reason Futurama is amazing. Anytime they would reach an end of a production cycle unsure of continuation they would write episodes that could be a series finale if it was the last.
Ummm… Honestly? In the ‘States, the Royals are more like that cool-sounding toy that some other kid had in school. Like, it’s super exciting when you hear about it, and you want to see more. But, then you see it, and you realize that it’s not nearly as interesting as you thought. Then it explodes, and that’s super interesting. But then everything quiets down for a few years. A blip here or there, sure, but you don’t really think about it unless it’s shoved in your face. Eventually the cycle repeats.
Yeah that’s about right
Which part of the states are you talkin bout
Is this an ad??
@@Fanartist-Kitty Exploding Royals here! Come on down to see the Exploding Royals! Best show of the century, I’m telling you!
You, Sir! Have you seen the Exploding Royals? No‽ Why you absolutely must see them, and right now, it’s absolutely free… for just five dollars! Thank you, sir! Have a wonderful evening!
@@Toberumono yes indeed, come marvel at Corrosive Camilla, gaze at Explosive Eddie, and bring the kids to watch our Combustible Corgis!

Man, how this show aged like milk!
They should have seen that coming, considering the show's cast is mainly made up of people so old a gust of wind could send them to Scotland.
I love this show
I'm appreciating Beavis and Butthead/South Park way more now. Especially since this came from mocking a small child, for, some reason. Like, why? Is it because of his family or something? What did George do? Follow a paper boat down a sewer grate?
Also, thank you for reiterating my hatred for Netflix after they canceled Age of Resistance.
If you want to see true satire of the British Royal family, look no further than the show The Windsors. It’s genuinely funny and makes jabs at nearly every royal (as well as several politicians).
That show is hilarious. Really clever.
I enjoyed that show. Charles, "First me, then you!" is really enjoyable. Though I can tell it's made by Brits because they keep on making jokes about Kate being a gypsy. Is it suppose to make fun of her not being from the Aristocracy, or did she really have family ancestors that were Romani?
@@jackiepierce6314 I don't think she has any gypsy in her, but the show is so funny adding this to the character, along with Harry's inability to read. Pippa as the villain has to be my favourite especially the evil soap music they play when she is around. Can't wait for more episodes
The windsors is a great show. It kind of lost the humour whenever they showed Trump, just because that has been done to death in every other comedy he appears in. But the first couple seasons are gold-tier
@@SleevelessSleeves Yeah, it always worked better making fun of British politics than American politics. But it was still good.
This looks like Alan Gregory and Family Guy had a baby, and that baby was raised by a South Park parody of British people.
South Park is at least written well
and they gave it f3t@l alchohol poisoning.
@@Grim_Sisterno it isn't. The characters are uniformly unpleasant and unsympathetic, the animation is ugly, the jokes are not funny, and the political takes are cringeworthy.
@@Attmay you should revisit South Park. The last few seasons were actually pretty ballsy
Imagine being a kid and having a show about yourself that you’re too young to watch, and making you look like a sociopath. Pretty messed up
They really tried to recreate STEWIE in that blond little kid. Bruh, you can’t replicate pure legend.
Also dont try to do that when its a real kid you are portaying, poor kid.
@@Pilsnor true - somebody's going to make fun of them and that's not nice.
They also tried that with Allan MacGregory, and of course the Cleveland Show.
@@JeffreyThrash at least Cleveland show was written by the same people who made Family Guy
@@waltercomunello121 its more that they are projecting something as personal as sexuality on to a real child, its not that they are making fun of someone, but royal or not they are just kids, just because no body is ever going to see this show does not mean its okay to make a real child the central carecter of a show that is just mocking said child without knowing anything about said child.
Love how everyone just brushes past the clip of gorden Ramsey's hand being blended...wtf?
Was a prank he did lol
Knew someone would mention bout it.
And your PFP
It strikes me that half of the "jokes" are variations on "isn’t it scandalous that these posh people are behaving incredibly uncouth" e.g. the Queen of England is swearing, hilarious.
This may be funny as a one off sketch in some other (better written) show, but you can’t write an entire series based on that premise alone.
I think that if you really needed the queen to swear, they should have kept it about the tarts. Instead of ending on a cliff hanger she would have said "those... fucking... tarts" after eating a poisoned one and ended the series there.
They don't even treat it as scandalous. It feels like a goddamn norm in this show.
That whole premise is so overdone and obnoxious, in this case even offensive. I think it encourages more of this FUCKING behaviour but making it FUCKING mainstream.
They should have gone the opposite direction, exaggerate her poshness, give her a Lucille Bluth schtick, and slowly add more and more comical protocol rules she insists on, eventually adding supernatural rules like “can’t go places without being invited” to play on the (lazy) joke of her being immortal, that would have had the potential to be genuinely funny satire in a better show (or at least have a few funny jokes in this one), but no they went “LOLOLOLOLOL OLD LADY DO A SWEAR”
@Louis Kirkwood Considering he's Greek and not British.
ah yes political satire without actually commenting on politics, perfect
As an American, I can't care any less about the Royal Family, except for Harry but that's because he willingly came to America and complained nonstop about the culture.
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Complained about British culture or American?
@@Lilah81 about American
What did he say?
If every Family Guy character looked like a ghoul, it would be this show.
It also needs to be about 28% more tedious than regular Family Guy... which borders on a war crime
😔
There's just something so painfully forced and unself-aware about most shock humour set in the UK
Add on the fact that it’s written out of the country and you have cancer itself
