- When we first introduced him to Keyscape, prolific Australian singer-songwriter Rai Thistlethwayte (Sun Rai, Thirsty Merc) truly made the instrument his own as he took us on a tour of his eclectic catalog - this was one of our favorite moments! Here, Rai soulfully performs his beautiful original, "Always Dreamed of You" with the LA Custom C7. Enjoy!

What an unbelievable artist Rai is. Songwriting, singing, keyboards, beatboxing. Everyone knows how funky he is, but he's also deeply deeply human. As beautifully showcased here. Thanks so much for posting.

Good grief that chord change at 3:29 just changed my life. Such a pleasure to listen to this exceptionally talented artist. Rai is one of the most underrated musicians of our time.

The first time, I did not listen very carefully, and suddenly, something at 3:29 broke through into my subconscious as something important, a passage to another dimension. I later returned to those few seconds many times...
This is a once in a lifetime artist that has sensitivity, funk, technical wizardry, jazz under his hands , pop, rock…. You name it. Very rare and awe inspiring to listen to. A very blessed man.
Rai Thistlethwayte has been my fave “new” keyboard player for a few years now, and while his left hand bass independence has probably impressed me the most over all… he’s just all around great… yet I’ve never heard him play or sing a ballad until just now. I see he’s playing the “LA Custom C7 - Cinematic” patch from Keyscape (my fave)… but if I didn’t know any of this and hadn't heard Rai before, I’d still be blown away by this performance.

I am finding myself coming back to this song and this video at least once a month. There is so much love and passion in that performance. Still my favorite clip from the sessions. Definitely big tears material.

I feel like Rai is too damn talented to ever gain mainstream fame. He's an incredible keyboardist, songwriter, and performer. He is a truly amazing talent, but his RUclips channel has about 8k subscribers. But hey. Thanks for uploading, this is a beautiful performance of a beautiful song. And thank you for all of these Keyscape videos, they are amazing.
Thirsty Merc had many top 100 and at least one top 10 songs, as well as an album that went platinum, in Australia. Was very much mainstream in Australia for a period of several years.
Rai, you Australian genius. A balladeer of the highest order. You open my heart with this astonishingly beautiful song. Adoring this performance , I love it when deliver your songs with such heartfelt simplicity. I don't know who your muse, is but my word, the songs she has inspired.

Loving this, I feel greatful that many many years ago I got to experience Rai and Merc at possibly their first Brisbane show in a small venue not much bigger than my lounge room in the Valley, Rai showed off with a massive keyboard solo that had everyone standing on every seat/table they can to get a better view, I was sold and went to any show thereafter

Seen the original and through complete accident heard this version just as I met someone so perfect and this is now my anthem. Everytime I hear it I will remember the moment someone so beautiful walked into my life. The perfect soundtrack to my new life. The key change kills me each time with happiness. I've listened to ray's song many times, it's magic! Then I began to listen to the piano, well, it's an amazing sound!, it's warm and real!!! I use a translator, sorry.
this is the sound of an old noble instrument, perhaps standing in a small room, and this instrument was always ready to fill this room with beautiful, aristocratic sounds, it was always waiting for understanding hands!, perhaps the fate of this instrument is sad, but these sounds found ray's hands, and this is beautiful.

Heck, I'd even buy the whole thing if only I could download and install parts of it.
Not everyone can afford to buy plugins AND a new SSD everytime they install a piano.
Thx for the feedback. Did you know that you can install a lite version that’s much smaller footprint? (so the new SSD requirement is not an issue) Keyscape will never be broken up for separate sales though...the sounds interact with each other in important ways and with Omnisphere. And yes....it’s going to grow and grow into the future! But the lite install will always be included. :-)
