, glad to hear that you are healing, had to slow down on my end , had surgery not planned, but for the better had quintuple bypass!!!WOW TO SAY THE LEAST, doing great starting cardio rehab this week, 10 # limit good luck with continuing progress on SM 55
The look-back videos were interesting but glad to see we've caught up now. Look forward to seeing progress in the here and now. Glad to see you're back out in the garage and the shoulder is getting better and better. BTW....Our latest grandson Knox was born on November 25th and we've set aside the Henry book for when he gets a little older. Look forward to more from Montana Garage. Be safe and stay well.
Thanks Brian. Congrats on the new grandson! I really so appreciate you grabbing the book, and I hope little Knox gets a kick out of it. Progress is happening, so more videos will be coming soon!
You're over thinking it buddy. Any of your content is great content no matter when it happened. I can only imagine what it takes to do this whole RUclips thing but I for one really appreciate all your work and always looking forward to more!!
G day from down under, Craig here. The machine still looks amazing, love your work. Cars can be a complete pain in the ass sometimes. Here's a funny story for you. I was changing the air cleaner on one of my car's many years ago and dropped the nut of the cleaner down the carb the big problem with that was the car was running. I had to take the heads off to get it back out of the cylinder. Lol, shit happens and wee live and learn. Good to see you again.
Funny story now, but I bet you didn't think it was too funny at the time. I am always afraid of something like that happening to me, and it probably will sooner or later. Thanks for watching and sharing the story Craig!
Awesome ride! My family is from Billings. I sure wish I would have found your channel sooner, as I was in Billings in October 2023 to haul my dad's '56 to California. I have a '55 hardtop. Keep up the great work. I'm looking forward to more videos. Peace.
Dang, three times? That doesn't sound fun. This is my second, but I just don't remember it dragging on like this the first time. Doc doesn't seem concerned, so hopefully like you say some more strengthening and stretching and I'll be throwing tile and transmissions around again soon! Thanks for watching!
Love your car. 55 Chevy was my very first car that I bought with my paper route money back in 1969. It was previously my father's drag that he sold to a man who wanted the engine and transmission for his 64 Nova. My father and I built an engine for it and put a three speed column shifter in it so I could drive it back and forth to school. Still miss my 55 but I gave it away the day I joined the military.
Cool story. Somehow these dang 55's seem to get away sometimes. Somehow I've been lucky enough to hold onto mine. I appreciate you sharing and watching.
On the passenger side shim the bottom door hing not on the door but on the cowl panel to bring your door out on the bottom to line up with the fender on the 40 through late 70s gm cars had a ton of shims to line body panels up the panels were never perfect so dont feel bad about using that die grinder to open up holes its going to take what it takes and as far as gaps a wooden paint stick for stirring paint is great to use as a gauge to check your gaps. That what alot of body shops do. I hope this helps you.
3M makes a great cartridge respirator thats all i ever use for 40+ years in body shops when your finished with it whip it out with alcohol and put it back in the zip lock bag it comes in do not leave it out in the open because the air passing through the filters is just like wearing it.
I’m glad to see you back out in the shop. It does take time I’ve had both shoulders rebuilt I know what your going threw. Thanks for the update see you on the next one. 👍😎✌️
@davidbacon4115 we unless everybody in the parts department at the chevy dealership I painted at in the 70s and the body shop I painted at for over 30 years were all wrong that louvered part was called the ventilator panel but I only worked in body shops for 40+ years
I'm with David as I've never heard it called the ventilator panel. Not saying that isn't the correct name, I just never heard that. Obviously I wasn't sure though, which is why I asked. Thanks for watching and letting me know what else it is called.
@MontanaGarage yeah the part with the vents was called a ventilator panel which screws down to the cowl I'm not saying yall are wrong because it is part of the cowl just that particular part was called the ventilator panel but I've been in body shops all my life that's pretty much all I know.
Maybe fabricate a small shroud so that the fan pulls all the air off of the Rad? seen a couple guys struggle with heat in their drag and drive vids and add a shroud the second year to try and help
A shroud probably wouldn't hurt for sure. Hopefully I'll get to put plenty of miles on this thing between now and Big Sky Race Week, so I will n\know if keeping it cool is an issue. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion.
I plan on it. I still have to get it down out of the rafters and figure out what I do and don't have, but I think I'll put on what I have. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the tip. I do have a return spring, the stock one under the dash. I have always just adjusted it based on ow I want the clutch to release, but I guess at the time of the failure I hadn't really adjusted it at all. I appreciate you watching and trying to help.
I find this ironic, since you won the 57 from DD Speed Shop - Dan is building a 67 Camaro with a 4 speed and he installed the pilot bushing backwards, had to yank engine / trans, fix and re-install. Yup, strange times.
Thanks Roman. I like how it sounds, too. I built this engine way back in like 1988 and have long since lost the cam card and I do not remember the specs unfortunately. Good luck with the Camaro project. I've always wanted on of those.
Ummm no. Was I supposed too? Why is everyone smarter than me? Haha. Well the good news is the tranny is coming back out soon so if I need to put some lube in the throwout bearing I'll have access to do that. Thanks for asking and watching.
Sorry I haven’t watched in a while (same as you,,,life stuff) but I’d like to echo what others have said-YOU’RE OVER THINKING IT. Just pick a direction and go! I too cannot image how much work is involved in keeping up with a RUclips channel. I do know of the successful channels I’ve watched over the years this one has many of the same characteristics. The interesting part is you are right about in the range subscriber-wise that those channels were when they turned the corner and took off. VVG and NNKH come to mind. The difference being when they hit that point they doubled down and committed to getting the content out. Best of luck and I’ll do my part to Like, Subscribe and comment as often as I can.
Thanks again Cory. I agree with the doubling down thing, but find it pretty much impossible with my current situation. I'll keep slogging along and maybe someday take a leap. For now, I just appreciate all that watch and follow along so I apprciate you buddy.
Great watch! Keep your videos coming sir
I appreciate you saying so and watching Gearhead!
, glad to hear that you are healing, had to slow down on my end , had surgery not planned, but for the better had quintuple bypass!!!WOW TO SAY THE LEAST, doing great starting cardio rehab this week, 10 # limit good luck with continuing progress on SM 55
Dang sorry to hear that Carmelo. Good luck with the rehab and I hope you are back at it soon! Thanks for always taking the time to watch!
That is one awesome looking car you are building! You are very wise to just work at your own pace!
Thanks Al. I agree, but I also think I need to pick up the pace. Thanks for watching.

Thanks as always Dave. It's viewers like you that keep me going. More content coming soon!
That’s one bad ass looking car keep up the good videos. and God bless you.
Thanks Tony. Much appreciated friend.

I like that you painted the inside of the fenders. My OCD would of done the same !
Yeo, had to do it once I put them on. That's one of the bad parts of not running the inner fenders I guess. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching and subscribing Jeff. Sounds like trifives are a big art of your family, too. More content coming soon!
The 55 is looking greàt i love it. Keep doi g what your doing it will payoff in the long run
Thanks Richard!
Keep up on the videos, love the 55 content🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thanks man I appreciate you saying so and watching!
We back. Looking forward to the drag and drive coverage.
Thanks Chris. I am looking forward to doing the drag and drive and sharing it with you guys. Should be a good time for sure! Thanks for watching
Welcome back. I tell everybody the same thing about moving to Alaska. We are full, no more room for new people. LOL
Yep, we are plumb full here. But somehow, people keep coming... Thanks for watching!
As the recipient of three right shoulder surgeries, therapy and time is in your future. Gentle strengthening and stretching 😊
Dang, three times? That doesn't sound fun. This is my second, but I just don't remember it dragging on like this the first time. Doc doesn't seem concerned, so hopefully like you say some more strengthening and stretching and I'll be throwing tile and transmissions around again soon! Thanks for watching!
Welcome back Brad. Hope you recover 💯 %
Thanks Robert. Much appreciated!

Awesome video Brad! We get to see all the stuff that we missed out on. I can't pick up those muncies like that anymore 😢
Apparently I can't either Gorni. I tried though. I guess that's why we have jacks, right? Thanks for watching.
Nice to see you getting caught up in the garage. Bare Metal 56 is looking sweet!! Cheers!! 😎
Thanks Paul!
Glad to see you back out in the shop again.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching.
It is good to see you are back out in the shop again ❤❤❤ its been awhile
Thank you Dale. I appreciate you coming back and watching after I've been gone a while.
Great to see your back!
You pretty much need strong shoulders for tile removal and installation ( big d supply 25 years)
Keep up on 55 👍
Thanks Kurt. Yeah, I do need good, strong shoulders for what I do. Hopefully it will continue to come around. Thanks for watching.
Awesome update on your 55 …
Thanks David!
Glad to see that you are doing better! I’m glad you decided to keep making videos! Keep mobbin! Tri5mob!
Thanks David. I'm glad you decided to watch the videos! I guess I'll keep making them if you'll keep watching them. I appreciate you buddy. Mob on.

Thanks for the tips Richard. I'll give that a try if I ever decide to try and make the gaps a bit better.

Thanks Richard I'll look into 3M. Any particular model you've had success with?
I’m glad to see you back out in the shop. It does take time I’ve had both shoulders rebuilt I know what your going threw. Thanks for the update see you on the next one. 👍😎✌️
Thanks Kevin!
On the cowl panel the part you were asking about is called the ventilator panel
I’ve always heard them called cowl panel. But what do I know I just grew up around my Dad and Greg and that is what they called them.
@davidbacon4115 we unless everybody in the parts department at the chevy dealership I painted at in the 70s and the body shop I painted at for over 30 years were all wrong that louvered part was called the ventilator panel but I only worked in body shops for 40+ years

@@richardsmith-qy6vl Thanks Richard. That's one of the main things I like about doing RUclips - I et to learn stuff. I appreciate the info.
Maybe fabricate a small shroud so that the fan pulls all the air off of the Rad? seen a couple guys struggle with heat in their drag and drive vids and add a shroud the second year to try and help

Glad your back thanks for the update
Thank you for coming back and watching!
Glad your back Brad.
Thanks Mike. I appreciate you watching.
Put the trim on it will look good.
I plan on it. I still have to get it down out of the rafters and figure out what I do and don't have, but I think I'll put on what I have. Thanks for watching.
That was nuts brad , should have put a jack under that …
I coulda swore I just lifted it in back in the day. Maybe not. Lesson learned. Thanks for watching.
Glad to see you back. What color are you going to paint it.
Thanks! Not planning on painting it at all for right now. Maybe someday...
you had the adjustment to tight and no return spring ... you need at least 1\2 gap between t- bearing and the p-plate
Thanks for the tip. I do have a return spring, the stock one under the dash. I have always just adjusted it based on ow I want the clutch to release, but I guess at the time of the failure I hadn't really adjusted it at all. I appreciate you watching and trying to help.

Yup, strange times.
Yeah were are both struggling with the dang throwout bearings that is for sure. I know mine is good now, hopefully Dan's is too. Thanks for watching!
Your engine definitely sounds great! What are specs on cam? I'm putting together a small block for my 67 Camaro. Love your videos!
Thanks Roman. I like how it sounds, too. I built this engine way back in like 1988 and have long since lost the cam card and I do not remember the specs unfortunately. Good luck with the Camaro project. I've always wanted on of those.
Looks good. Did you lube the throwout bearing?
Ummm no. Was I supposed too? Why is everyone smarter than me? Haha. Well the good news is the tranny is coming back out soon so if I need to put some lube in the throwout bearing I'll have access to do that. Thanks for asking and watching.
you always pull the shifter..
Maybe you "should" always pull the shifter but I was able to do it without pulling it. Thanks for watching.
What transmission do you have in the 55 is it a Muncie 4speed?
The tranny is a Borg Warner T-10 four speed. Soon to be backed by a Gear Vendor overdrive so stay tuned for that!
I hate the paint color in the basement. You still got work to do though!
I know we need to get that done.
Are you leaving it bare metal
Yes, at least for now. I may paint it someday but will drive it like this for a while so I can work on other projects. Thanks for watching!
Would you sell ddspeed shop 57
Already did. I talked about it in a video a while back. Thanks for watching!

Hurst shifter secrets,
Paul Congialosi,
Are you saying I can funs some secrets from Paul? I'll do some googling and see what I can find. Thanks for watching and sharing!
Took me over a year and it still isn't 100 %and it never will
Yeah mine has taken over a year too, maybe over 30 years haha. They are never done... Thanks for watching.
