    In this video, I give my scouting report for Texas WR Xavier Worthy, who turned heads at the NFL Combine, after an incredible performance, including a record-breaking 40-yard dash on Saturday.

    I watched him dominate as a true freshman in the Red River Rivalry (coming out party for him and Caleb Williams). I've seen the scouting reports. But you know what sells me?
    He has 4 tackles and one fumble recovery, as a wide receiver. He never gives up on the field. And when he ran sub 4.3 on his first attempt, he was not satisfied.
    If you're scouting for competitiveness and effort, it's a major green light. He's also versatile. The fact that he'll be the fastest player in the league next year, can run the entire route tree with exceptional footwork, returns punts, can even be used on double-passes, and considering his character, Xavier is Worthy of first round draft capital.

    I think its worth mentioning his punt return ability as well

      punt returning is much easier in college compared to the NFL. it really doesn’t matter that much and there isn’t really any true great punt returners in the NFL

    Very explosive guy with great after the catch ability the biggest issue is his size and the drop issues but he’s fast and shifty. Fun player in the right system if used properly could be a Desean Jackson type player

    He’s underrated route runner also he’s not just speed threat definitely need work on the drops and his release package besides that he’s high in number 2 receiver I say his comp desean Jackson but with better routes

    I'd disagree that John Ross didn't have that elite quickness and agility. He was phenomenal in that way. Unfortunately he was simply one of those guys who in my 30 years of following the draft I put in the category if "doesn't love the game". Man got drafted top 10, got paid & decided to not play as often as possible. Always had a mysterious hamstring issue or some other soft tissue thing which conveniently Dr's have to take your word for. Because when he decided to play & be productive he was tough to cover, see his hometown return game vs Seattle. But he had like 20 pounds on Worthy. There's zero way I take Worthy in any draft, he'll be constantly unavailable to play at that weight.

      He’s similar sized to DeVonta Smith and DeSean Jackson, and he’s bigger than Hollywood Brown coming out of school. He was 5’9 166 at the combine. He added weight and got up to 180 now, but he’s been pretty durable for the most part.

    • @willjay921
      @willjay921 2 месяца назад

      @@mttzakr23 DeSean was hurt often as well. But thing is this you name a couple of guys who have had some degree of success, that's fine. You know who else he is like? Literally dozens of guys who never made, guys like Dri Archer who was small & fast and just didn't have enough other talents/tools to be successful. I don't know how much draft resources I'm spending on a guy who at best is maybe DeSean Jackson. And his odds to reach that upside isn't ideal.

      @@willjay921 I know, the original point was about the weight and size. For him especially it gets brought up frequently. More than likely, any NFL team that gets him will likely try to get him to add another 5-10 lbs to be more suited to take punishment. If he doesn’t, you’re probably right, he won’t last. And for a guy to just be DeSean Jackson, that would be quite an accomplishment. A 16 year career with multiple 1000 yard seasons and over 11k career yards? Sure.
      As far as him being similar to many guys that are unsuccessful, fine. But you can say that for any position in the draft and with different types of WR’s.

      He took some licks at Texas, these kids have been weighing what they weigh most of their life while playing football. He's a decent returner to so he's always getting hit no matter what. If Ewers was a better QB he would have had double digit TD's every year at Texas, guy was overthrown or under thrown so many times on wide open TD's.
