- Today we are looking at one of my favorite QB prospects, LSU Heisman winner Jayden Daniels. I think Daniels provides a wide variety of everything a QB needs. Today, we will look at some film and see if Daniels has what it takes to be a first round pick (spoiler, he does)

Rather have JD tbh, don’t care if he’s lanky he can fill out his frame more later. Plenty of smaller framed qbs in league, Rodgers, Young, Cousins, etc. If the rumors about Williams are true it’s a hard pass, and a lot of his tape isn’t impressive.

This is a lock for the Commanders and the OC we hired pretty much seals the deal. He’s a perfect match for Kingsbury’s offense. We will maximize his strengths like eagles did Hurts. He was on the edge of exile and ended up blossoming into his own. Daniel’s, welcome to DC. HTTC
He's not getting past the Pats at #3 and I wouldn't be surprised if Washington takes him over Maye at #2. Good breakdown

I sure hope so. Howell n ver had the time or open receivers like this guy did in these film clips, though. Even Williams and Maye had to make more impressive throws. But that running ability!!! Could buy him time to develop in that offense. I’m ok with either he or Maye as a prospect. Daniels won’t be a bust but his arm limits what he can do

Vision? He throws to first read and if it’s not there he tucks and runs. Great prospect. He’s waiting for his elite wr to get open keeping eyes on him the entire time. That won’t work in nfl.

As an LSU fan, I came away more impressed with Lacy tbh. I didn't highly regard him after last season, but I think he can do big things with Nuss

His arm looks totally decent to me. Stronger than Joe Burrow I'd say, and maybe similar to Brock Purdy who hits lasers over the middle all the time. The deeper down the field you are throwing, the less laser throws are useful anyways.

It's because of his arm strength. He has what Bo Nix lacks. Penix is a crapshoot. Feel like some team will convince themselves on each of them in the top 50.
When Jayden starts getting happy feet and starts fading left, right and back, I know that ball isn't coming out right. When he steps into it, he's as good as anybody.

IDK just seems like a run first QB that's rushed over a 1,000 yards when he didn't need to, behind a stout o-line and 2 top WRs. His skinny frame also worries me, as he likes to take a lot of hits, needs to learn how to slide and I hope he doesn't end up like a RG3.

Very good assessment open and honest and the negs you pointed out were good ones and the best things about those plays is that every time he missed a throw he came right back and hit the next one right after, like in the FSU game. Also glad you pointed out that he really don't want to run, only when it's necessary. Hopefully my Skins will be picking him. Definitely will be checking out your reviews on the other QBs. Good job.

Very good analysis. Something I have noticed on his misses shown is that even with his good footwork on a lot of his misses he tends to be fading back could be a concern or could be coached out of him. This is combined with his average NFL arm. All that being said I think he is the 2 QB prospect in the draft.
Imagine if the bears picked Jayden and Malik with their 2 top 10 picks. They already have crazy good chemistry.
Forget about Caleb in Chi. Trade down and figure out how to pair Daniels and Nabers as Bears.

He is Jalen Hurts 2.0 if he goes to Philadelphia. If he end up Washington, he is RG3 2.0
All depend on where he goes. If he ends up in Baltimore, he will do well. If he ends up Panthers, he play poorly.
He played very well because of excellent O-lines and excellent wide receivers in college. JD was never been tested in pressure.

@@nicknova703 I can’t find it right now, but there’s a Heisman finalist pic of all 4 guys standing shoulder to shoulder on the street in NYC & JD is much taller than MH3 & Harrison is also listed @ 6’4. I know they all lie about sizes, but I think Jayden will grade out a min in the high 6’3’s which is definitely a benefit in the pros over the 6 foot/ 6’1 guys

I’d say he has higher upside then everyone other then Caleb Williams. Williams is a good athlete but he has such a special arm that I don’t think anyone else possesses in this class. Daniels is the best athlete in this class. He really reminds me of Jalen Hurts

I don't worry so much about arm strength as I do accuracy. That's why NFL teams have their own weight rooms and strength coaches, and that can be worked on. But QB has to be played between the ears more than with your throwing arm.

I appreciate it! I would like to see Vegas get him. I did a scoring report on Aidan O’Connell last year, and I thought he had some promise. Was an underwhelming year for him in the limited starts he did get. BUT if they could get Daniels, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

I just don’t see the Raiders having the guts to trade up to get him unfortunately. And will settle on JJ, Pennix, Nix. Who I’m not really impressed with.

Your breakdowns are great and non-biased. Great breakdown of Jayden Daniels. I saw Drake Maye’s breakdown, prior. I’m going to check the others. I believe the Bears will take Caleb Williams. I’m torn between Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye. I believe Daniels is more of a playmaker and reads defenses a bit better than Drake Maye.
The run at 16:10 is just insane.

“4 takes a bad angle”, has a lot to do with that player likely not being on a tan even for training camp, which is the problem with his running ability. he takes advantage of player that arent going to be there to take advantage of at the next level

That’s a great question. I would say it plays a factor. Obviously, the guy with the better talent around him has a better chance to succeed. But the way Daniels makes every throw that an NFL starter would make over and over and over again on his film. That is what makes him my QB2 over Drake Maye.

I’d love it! I’m always a fan of letting guys sit a year behind a veteran. It worked for Brock Purdy, Jordan Love, Patrick Mahomes, and Lamar Jackson! If Daniels could sit behind Cousins for a year or two, I think that would be good for his development!

Jayden Daniels = Kyler Murray. I believe he'll make a few Pro Bowls in the NFL. Definitely think he'll be a starter for many many years

Daniels is exactly the same size as Randall Cunningham. Randall was 215lbs and Daniels needs an attainable 10lbs for the next level. I'm down with him at #2 or trade down to #3 with NE as theyll take Maye.

the only disagreement I have with your method of analysis (not even really a disagreement, just a nitpick actually) is that sometimes the lack of diverse types of throws by a QB isn't by their choice. This is obviously a pretty niche problem, and has really only been relevant in the case of Justin Herbert, but sometimes it is worth looking at coaching history and to see if all the QBs under a certain coach play the same way despite their differences in ability.
and now that my noggin is joggin I remember a similar criticism of DK metcalf at ole miss. People called him a hitch/9 route merchant and said he was just hype. So it isn't just Qbs that suffer from this. Anyway I love the video, personally have JD as my Qb 2 and I'll be beside myself if my giants don't find a way to bring him home.
