I stopped watching star wars at Episode 8 when Kylo Ren said "Let the past die - kill it if you have to". I quietly excused myself from the room and realized the writers do not want their stories to be enjoyed by the current fan base. I was comforted to know why ep. 7 and 8 felt so poorly done, boycotted the franchise, and never looked back. To fans still choosing to watch star wars and give Disney money, I would like to extend to you an invitation in forgetting everything star wars - "I would be honored if you would join me".
For me, there will always be the original trilogy. That's the smallest that I can cut Star Wars down to. Those first three are a part of me, and everything that came after is just disposable entertainment. Some of which I have enjoyed, but never truly loved loved.

When we got The Empire Strikes Back tape, it was almost as happy as a birthday. Then we got into the games, with Star Wars Galactic Battleground, Empire at War, Jedi Knight 2, Battlefront... For me, STAR WARS ENDED back when SEASON 6 of The Clone Wars Ended and when ROGUE ONE came out. Mandalorian and ANDOR were Flukes, only made because JON FAVRAEU made the last few Great Films of Star Wars or was associated with it. I feel more of a connection to the old/original Star Wars through listening to the soulful critics excoriate the new stuff than I do watching the new stuff. How surreal is that?! The new stuff has no 'living spirit' left, but the living spirit is still inside the hearts of the fans who truly care, and when one of those fans becomes a brilliant critic (such as Critical Drinker), I can share that spirit during the criticism. To be fair i think disney+ is one of the better streaming services you can get if you like older movies 80´s 90´s. Right now i am re-watching the alien movies, next will be the die hard movies. Just stay clear of anything new that disney has it fingers on :)

As a father, I do not identify with week male characters who get beaten up by women. My wife being a mother doesn’t identify with strong women beating up men. She would go further, she does not want her daughters thinking that what they watch is normal. It’s failing because all sides can’t identify with the characters because it’s not realistic as a general rule. The amount of programs I’ve watched where the white guy, is weak or is the bad guy and all the other characters around our female or a different race. I’ve turned off so many programs because I quickly recognise I’m watching an ideology, not a filmmaker.

Oh yeah George Lucas, the guy who gave us the prequels and tainted the Original Trilogy with his changes, and who WONT allow us to see the original theatrical cuts. Yeah poor guy. My heart bleeds for him.
I've accepted that Disney's Star Wars isn't aimed at fans of George Lucas's original vision. It's trying to reach a different audience, but based on how it's performed, that audience might not actually exist.
It does exist but it will never be as big or bring in as much money as the old fans. There will always be someone to watch and like the trash they produce. The question is which is cheaper: Kennedy's incompetence or the lawsuit she got in her sleeve because she knows something or they'd kicked her out years ago.
The fans have a great solution: stop watching the show, stop waisting your time with it. It´s what I did. To me, star wars died the moment Luke Skywalker was transformed into an idiot. So, I bought the first 6 movies and thats it. The same goes to Alien, Terminator and other franchises.
Alien; the new movies don’t capture the original trilogy suspense and horror. The new movies are more action packed and storyline that doesn’t make sense, a couple have been entertaining but not anywhere near the originals. I’ll still watch them, however Star Wars isn’t worth watching at all. Terminator died after T2 judgement day, the next few don’t exist in my head.
Yes!!! Its crazy that people keep watching and expecting change. If they keep making money on buying up property and milking it, they will continue doing it. People should switch more quickly, find new gems or be fans of certain creators not franchises. Spend your money to feed what you love.
Luke Skywalker's ENTIRE purpose in the first movie, was to be an idiot - "Don't get cocky, kid!". In Empire/Return, he refuses to consider, what EVERY SINGLE PERSON that knew Anakin, tells him about Anakin, believing himself to be right, because the lie is more pleasant than the truth, and if it feels so good, then it can't be wrong... And finally, he becomes a Jedi Knight by REFUSING TO FIGHT and letting the Emperor win - which isn't the most obviously rational choice either, outside of the fact that the Force is real in this universe... At what point was he TRANSFORMED into an idiot?
That's what I did, but it wasn't really to send any kind of message to the producers that I wanted things to change. I've given up on that long ago. It was just something that happened naturally; I got bored and wandered off.

Kennedy leaving won't change anything. All the executives at Lucasfilm and Disney are every bit as activist as she is. There would have to be mass firings. Given the fact that Kennedy and her husband, Frank Marshall, have been good friends with Iger since long before Kennedy was associsated with Disney and Lucasfilm, I don't see her leaving before she wants to. Mass firings aren't too likely either.
For me, STAR WARS ENDED back when SEASON 6 of The Clone Wars Ended and when ROGUE ONE came out. Mandalorian and ANDOR were Flukes, only made because JON FAVRAEU made the last few Great Films of Star Wars or was associated with it. I will NOT watch anything STAR WARS again, that was made between "ROGUE ONE" - and for the Foreseeable Future. I have been purshasing old Star Wars Books, Comics, and watching VIDEO GAME MOVIES.
Apparently Marvel has been quietly firing a lot of activist producers. Not sure if Kathleen Kennedy has been actively been protecting them in Lucasfilm, but clearly sections of Disney are realizing this needs to change. I’m pretty sure Kennedy’s contract ends at the end of 2024, so it’s possible they start quietly clearing house at Lucasfilm at that point as well.

The only wins out of Star Wars since Disney bought it have been Rogue One (sort of), the first few seasons of the Mandalorian (until it started gathering buzz and then she jumped on it), and The Bad Batch. Edit: forgot Andor. Also worthy. But these handful of wins pale in the face of the amount of money thrown at complete bombs.

DisnESG stock has lost almost 25% of its value just since May of 2024, despite the fact that two of its subsidiary companies just release two movies that each made over a billion dollars, and the upcoming disasters of sNOw White and Captain Falcon: Big Brother Wins have the very real possibility of being even bigger box office bombs than John Carter, the company already billions in debt, Universal getting ready to open Epic Universe in 2025 while their own domestic parks continue to decay, DisnESG stock will only continue to tank, until the company loses so much value that investors with deep enough pockets could buy the entire controlling stake, if not the entire company... which is what I suspect Perlmutter, Peltz, and Musk are bidding their time for. And if those three do to DiesnESG what Elon did with Twitter, there is no world in which someone who has lost the company as much money and dealt as much brand damage as Darth Kennedy and her coven of lesbian witches keep their jobs or power. Either DisnESG gets bought out, or DisnESG crumbles. Either way, their is no world in which Darth Kennedy gets to stay emperor of Lucas Film.
Lucasfilms thinks it’s too good and big for its core audience. No company survived being that picky about who they want to view their content. Especially if that core audience was already established decades ago smh lol

As a kid, I loved watching A League of Their Own, not because it was mostly a female cast, or because the director was female (Penny Marshall), but because it was a great baseball movie with great characters. Gender has nothing to do with a movie’s success, even when the story admittedly revolves around it. You just need a solid, compelling story with likeable, realistic, fleshed out characters.
^^^ THIS. It also comes to mind with Babylon 5 and Deep Space Nine, which both had very strong and influential female characters. The writing, story and characters were what worked. Gender can vary, but good and bad are universal as far as quality goes.
Firefly and Alien/Aliens did it with awesome, and fully human and vulnerable female characters you could watch forever. The only female problem here is KK herself.

I stopped watching star wars at Episode 8 when Kylo Ren said "Let the past die - kill it if you have to". I quietly excused myself from the room and realized the writers do not want their stories to be enjoyed by the current fan base. I was comforted to know why ep. 7 and 8 felt so poorly done, boycotted the franchise, and never looked back. To fans still choosing to watch star wars and give Disney money, I would like to extend to you an invitation in forgetting everything star wars - "I would be honored if you would join me".

Some hate Rian Johnson for his movie, I'm grateful as it's sheer abject awfulness has lead to the collaboration of dozens of entertaining creators who provide me much more entertainment than that movie would have if it had been good.

Oh yeah George Lucas, the guy who gave us the prequels and tainted the Original Trilogy with his changes, and who WONT allow us to see the original theatrical cuts.

I've accepted that Disney's Star Wars isn't aimed at fans of George Lucas's original vision. It's trying to reach a different audience, but based on how it's performed, that audience might not actually exist.
It does exist but it will never be as big or bring in as much money as the old fans. There will always be someone to watch and like the trash they produce. The question is which is cheaper: Kennedy's incompetence or the lawsuit she got in her sleeve because she knows something or they'd kicked her out years ago.
Don't dance around it, say it frankly: We all know this audience doesn't exist.
Kathleen Kennedy will never have a win, so she will never quit.
The fans have a great solution: stop watching the show, stop waisting your time with it. It´s what I did. To me, star wars died the moment Luke Skywalker was transformed into an idiot. So, I bought the first 6 movies and thats it. The same goes to Alien, Terminator and other franchises.
Alien; the new movies don’t capture the original trilogy suspense and horror. The new movies are more action packed and storyline that doesn’t make sense, a couple have been entertaining but not anywhere near the originals. I’ll still watch them, however Star Wars isn’t worth watching at all.
Terminator died after T2 judgement day, the next few don’t exist in my head.

Yes!!! Its crazy that people keep watching and expecting change. If they keep making money on buying up property and milking it, they will continue doing it. People should switch more quickly, find new gems or be fans of certain creators not franchises. Spend your money to feed what you love.
Luke Skywalker's ENTIRE purpose in the first movie, was to be an idiot - "Don't get cocky, kid!". In Empire/Return, he refuses to consider, what EVERY SINGLE PERSON that knew Anakin, tells him about Anakin, believing himself to be right, because the lie is more pleasant than the truth, and if it feels so good, then it can't be wrong... And finally, he becomes a Jedi Knight by REFUSING TO FIGHT and letting the Emperor win - which isn't the most obviously rational choice either, outside of the fact that the Force is real in this universe... At what point was he TRANSFORMED into an idiot?
That's what I did, but it wasn't really to send any kind of message to the producers that I wanted things to change. I've given up on that long ago. It was just something that happened naturally; I got bored and wandered off.
The problem is Disney is no longer a for Profit company and only a message platform with what we think you should think!!!!!!!

Kennedy leaving won't change anything. All the executives at Lucasfilm and Disney are every bit as activist as she is. There would have to be mass firings. Given the fact that Kennedy and her husband, Frank Marshall, have been good friends with Iger since long before Kennedy was associsated with Disney and Lucasfilm, I don't see her leaving before she wants to. Mass firings aren't too likely either.

For me, STAR WARS ENDED back when SEASON 6 of The Clone Wars Ended and when ROGUE ONE came out. Mandalorian and ANDOR were Flukes, only made because JON FAVRAEU made the last few Great Films of Star Wars or was associated with it. I will NOT watch anything STAR WARS again, that was made between "ROGUE ONE" - and for the Foreseeable Future. I have been purshasing old Star Wars Books, Comics, and watching VIDEO GAME MOVIES.
Apparently Marvel has been quietly firing a lot of activist producers. Not sure if Kathleen Kennedy has been actively been protecting them in Lucasfilm, but clearly sections of Disney are realizing this needs to change. I’m pretty sure Kennedy’s contract ends at the end of 2024, so it’s possible they start quietly clearing house at Lucasfilm at that point as well.
@@JoeBoxerNo1 I feel that the few wins have been despite Kennedy, not because of her. The more involved she is in a project, the worse it becomes.
The only wins out of Star Wars since Disney bought it have been Rogue One (sort of), the first few seasons of the Mandalorian (until it started gathering buzz and then she jumped on it), and The Bad Batch.

But these handful of wins pale in the face of the amount of money thrown at complete bombs.
Don't completely discredit it as a possibility. DisnESG stock has lost almost 25% of its value just since May of 2024, despite the fact that two of its subsidiary companies just release two movies that each made over a billion dollars, and the upcoming disasters of sNOw White and Captain Falcon: Big Brother Wins have the very real possibility of being even bigger box office bombs than John Carter, the company already billions in debt, Universal getting ready to open Epic Universe in 2025 while their own domestic parks continue to decay, DisnESG stock will only continue to tank, until the company loses so much value that investors with deep enough pockets could buy the entire controlling stake, if not the entire company... which is what I suspect Perlmutter, Peltz, and Musk are bidding their time for. And if those three do to DiesnESG what Elon did with Twitter, there is no world in which someone who has lost the company as much money and dealt as much brand damage as Darth Kennedy and her coven of lesbian witches keep their jobs or power.
Either DisnESG gets bought out, or DisnESG crumbles. Either way, their is no world in which Darth Kennedy gets to stay emperor of Lucas Film.
Lucasfilms thinks it’s too good and big for its core audience. No company survived being that picky about who they want to view their content. Especially if that core audience was already established decades ago smh lol

@@DarthAscension they still have Kennedy in charge and they won’t fire her even with all the failures she’s produced. Marvel was able to clean out all the activists so there’s nothing stopping LucasFilms from doing the same thing but they haven’t completely

As a kid, I loved watching A League of Their Own, not because it was mostly a female cast, or because the director was female (Penny Marshall), but because it was a great baseball movie with great characters. Gender has nothing to do with a movie’s success, even when the story admittedly revolves around it. You just need a solid, compelling story with likeable, realistic, fleshed out characters.
^^^ THIS. It also comes to mind with Babylon 5 and Deep Space Nine, which both had very strong and influential female characters. The writing, story and characters were what worked. Gender can vary, but good and bad are universal as far as quality goes.
Firefly and Alien/Aliens did it with awesome, and fully human and vulnerable female characters you could watch forever. The only female problem here is KK herself.

Star Wars was over the second they started 1) Using CGI to death and 2) Started parachuting "Strong Female" and "Black Guy" into lead roles for no reason. This happens to all successful franchises and is the beginning of the end every single time.
I boycotted the minute it was sold to Disney on principle. To me the films ended at 6, and the extended universe is still canon. It is the fans that decide the canon, not authors or screenwriters or studios.

I would love to see her replaced with someone like Sam Witwer. Sam Witwer knows the industry. He is a nerd and LOVES Star Wars. I mean, listen to him talk about his auditions for Starkiller in Force Unleashed, about his take on Sith "meditation" and you can tell he understands the universe and the motivations and how characters are. I think he would be an amazing person to head up the studio. If not the president, then at least the head creative that gets final editorial say on projects. Someone who can help keep the IP true to what it should be and not watering it down into the trash it has become.
