Hey Guys I was born in north Iraq, I remember 55 years ago when I was a kid, an old man used to come to our doors screaming and saying we sharpen knifes we sharpen scissors and he had same tool hand made with beat up bicycle wheel, Just like rag man and glass man in America, It was innocent life back in those days

Thank you for this tutorial. I've been trying to find a pedal grinder like this and every other tutorial i see involves a lot of fabrication and welding, and way too much overengineering for such a simple machine.

The idea is good, if you have plenty of space to blow. I guess it could be expanded into more rotary tools also. I don’t see myself building this because of the space, and for only one purpose, in any case , good video.

From many years onwards, before motorized grinder for knife and scissor shapening, can see these type of grinders to sharpen the knives and scissors in Indian roadside. This is a profession for certain group of peoples and use same machine like this and pedal the wheel to rotate these grinders. Nothing new in it, but hatsoff to your work in this video.

You could improve this machine by turning the bicycle wheel into an unbalanced flying wheel so that the wheel is synchronized with the input force coming from the pedaling. Something like the wheels of old vapor locomotives.
If you don´t get the idea, just turn the bicycle wheel into a normal flying wheel.
