Elvin Bishop wrote a great one with this.Elvin was and still is a great blues guitarist, writer and singer.Mickey Tomas and Reni Slais killed it on vocals.I was lucky to see Elvin and Mickey play this live in Tulsa,Oklahoma,a great concert.Elvin rose to fame in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band before going on to start the Elvin Bishop Group. Thanks Ace for this!
Dude anytime you get the chance to review an artist/band that's from the "Midnight Special" jump at the chance they had the gr8est up and coming music of the 70's i always looked 4ward to watching it every week.❤
I too, couldn't take my eyes off of the female singer when I first saw this video. Elvin BISHOP....3 times in the past I had free tix to see him in concert......but missed him because i had to work that night or whatever. Finally on the 4th time and after 20 years had passed....I FINALLY GOT TO SEE HIM DURING A TRIP TO Reno. to my horror....he did this as an instrumental. i found out later that Elvin is just the guitarist & that someone else had sung on the album.
The book means the Little Black Book that people carried to write People's phone numbers down in. Having a full little black book meant you were a player!
Gotta be one of my all-time favorites. Can't say enough. Yeah, the big bells. The trick was to get the front of the bell under the toes and SSSSTTTTREEEETTTCCCCHHH those mothers out long and big!
Regarding that pause where Elvin hits that high not, as a former working musician sometimes the empty spaces or pauses are every bit as important as the notes being played! Hope that helps bro! Loving the channel, here’s to your eclecticism! 👊🍻
Yeah she's hot, lol. As far as when you were talking about pushing that note slowly up into its final destination? If it were singing, you would say that you slowly scooped up into the note. But with guitar really it's an upward bend. So you put your finger down on the Fret that's a few notes below where you're going to end up, and you strike it and then you use one or two other fingers to just put a lot more tension on the string and push it out words away from you or pull it Edwards towards you, and because you increase the tension on it it rises in pitch and you can completely control going up and down and then ultimately ending up at that final pitch Something else you hear a lot is exactly the same thing but in reverse. So you put your root finger down at the same lower pitch, but before you strike it, you use your other finger or two to push it up to start at that higher pitch and then you strike it. And then you can fall off of it however you want to buy controlling releasing that tension and finally letting it go back to just be normal at the lower pitch with no extra tension on it. It would be like a downward bend.
Now this live version is closer to the studio version much better than the Southern Cross video, just saying! But you never know what you might get on any random live performance.
Before cell phones, guys would sometimes carry a "little black book". This little back pocket treasure would have names and phone numbers in it. We had no 'devices" or computers to attach them too.
Those huge pants are called bell-bottoms, some of girls even made the bell bigger and then they were called elephant legs! We'd just add material to the seam! Oh the good old days! Ha!Ha!Ha!
Hey man there is nothing wrong or in the World 🌍 like a hot babe. I am 66 years old and I still love 💖 looking 🥰 at a great looking women. Women is what makes the World 🌍 go around 5:34 !
The guitarist is Elvin Bishop. Lead vocals, Mickey Thomas. The same guy who sang Jane by Jefferson Starship.

The 60’s and 70’s had all the talent.
Ace, that singer is the same guy who sang "Jane" by the Jefferson Starship! Can you hear it? 😁
Top 5 all time live performances I've ever seen/heard. Excellent reaction. Very classy.
The Guitarist is Elvin Bishop, and the lead singer is Micky Thomas who also sang with Jefferson Starship and Starship.
I'm so glad you got to this after listening to jane, it's the same singer Mickey Thomas
I really loved this when it reached the Dutch charts mid seventies. It felt so much better to me than all the disco music.
Mickey Thomas is such a Huge Talent and Great to look at, as well. 😉
The woman singing is Reni Slais, definitely attractive, and feels the song with her voice and body
Thanks for doing that one! Loved the reaction, friend!
That guitar thing is called a bend. Using your finger to push up the string to get a higher pitch.
The lead in the original version of theirs is really awesome
Elvin Bishop wrote this song but thought his gravelly voice didn't suit the sing, so he had his backup singer Mickey Thomas sing it.
So glad you are listening. Gotta do the videos!

Lead singer is Mickey Thomas, and he’s from Georgia.

The singer is the legendary Mickey Thomas from Yes! Elvin Bishop is the guitarist with the sheriff's badge.
Correction. Mickey Thomas is the singer of Jefferson Starship. The singer for Yes is Jon Anderson.

I was thinking it was the guy with Jefferson Starship but I got Mickey Thomas mixed up with Marty Balin. Great song and great vocals !!!
Immediately brings me to “Boogie Nights”
The epic baseline paired with the way that lead guitar cuts in... gets me every time ❤
Great song!

Kix - "Don't Close Your Eyes" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love her top. Ace does too I think.
If you want some southern funk listen to Juke Joint Jump or Struttin My Stuff by The Elvin Bishop Band.
I personally feel like it's nice to appreciate a pretty woman. What a figure!! ❤✌️
Mickey is pretty cute himself.

He ain't good lookin but he sure can play.
His name is Elvin Bishop
Have you listened to any Elton John? Goodbye Yellow Brick Rd is a good place to start.
Elvin Bishop (guitar) is famously the lead singer from the band WILD CHERRY, with their famous hit "PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC WHITE BOY>"
Oh, yeah. Her jumpsuit is eyecatching. Mickey's voice is ear catching.
Before cell phones, guys would sometimes carry a "little black book". This little back pocket treasure would have names and phone numbers in it. We had no 'devices" or computers to attach them too.
You must be kidding. I hope.

I love it and everyday I could do it all I ever died
