- I discuss the 5.11 MOAB 10 Sling Bag in DoubleTap black and discuss its features, what I like and what I don't like (not much). Available now at a nicely discounted rate through OpticsPlanet (through February 2014).

Double Tap color still available in 2023 so either the creator was misled or 5.11 changed their mind. Nevertheless…. Great job sir.
lol, I've been using this bag for over a year and never noticed the pistol velcro area. Nor did I do my 'due diligence' before purchasing it. You made a good and in depth video, which helped me figure out better ways carry everything.
I have the black on black, way too dark for my eyes. Yours is better but the white stitching is annoying and makes it look cheaply done to me; but thats just cosmetic.
Ya know what's missing from all the reviews..people rarely put the bag ON. Load it up and put it on, comment on comfort and utility likes and dislikes.

a trick: you can watch series on KaldroStream. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies lately.

5.11 need to update this bag. Like change that little pouch on the strap to be big enough to hold a modern smartphone. The days of Blackberries and flip phones are over.
I'm actually glad that it's less black than in the reference pics... I don't like black gear, cause in an emergency and I put my stuff down at night, it's gone. I like neutral colours like urban grey, I'd prefer if it was a little lighter. But this review was a huge help, thanks.
Quick note. The mesh pockets on the inside of the bag with the pull tabs do not pass through. There is a front pocket and a back pocket depending on which tab you pull.

The velcro patch area is 3x3". The name tape is 6"x1"
I would really like to see a short video on how to actually install the tier system with a 72 hour bag and a moab 10. All of the other videos say it can be done but do not actually show you how to do it.
I would do that but I don't have the Rush 72 anymore. The Tier straps attach easy enough to both bags though and attaching the two is simple after that. The only downside is you can't have too much attached to the front of the Rush 72 (or what ever your main bag is) otherwise the MOAB won't sit correctly.

When VTAC is included in the description is it still a Genuine 5.11 Tactical MOAB or Rush backpack ?
Also where did you here that the Double Tap color was being "Discontinued" ?
I received an email today from 5.11 tactical because I asked if the Rush 12 and 24 would be available in the new color Storm Grey and they say No but they will be available in Double Tap... So that still leaves me with the question is 5.11 discontinuing the Double Tap color ?
I had to wait weeks just to get an answer to my first question from 5.11 and had to write several times before they responded. Also what forums talk about their products.

I will include some info about VTAC (Viking Tactics), but yes, Viking Tactics partnered with 5.11 to design some products and hence they carry both names. You don't see much mention of VTAC on 5.11's site anymore, especially in conjunction with their Rush backpacks, not sure why.
As for double tap, I will just pass on what I have been told. Several distributors (and 5.11) have stated that the double tap colors are not selling well and are being phased out. The Rush 72 and Rush 12 are two that have already been phased out. I don't have any further information, but even these discontinued colors can still be found in stock through distributors (just not 5.11 directly).

be careful. I keep over loading mine. my 5.11 Rush 72 can take it and more but sometimes I've bogged it down with 75lbs of gear. I've tried taking it to the park and hiking with it as heavy as possible just to be ready to carry as much as it can hold and I even work out wearing it sometimes. but be careful, because it's so well made and organized that you can easily accidentally overload it and it's not set up for full backpacking like my ILBE marine Arcteryx internal frame or backpacking packs. Goodluck. it's a Great bag.
Thanks for the advice. My pack arrived yesterday and today I loaded it with groceries. It will hold a lot. I had no problem getting the clam-shell closed. My only real problem is that when the heaviest item are placed at the bottom of the main compartment the Rush 72 extends. Im thinking about placing a plastic board at the bottom.
Oh. Lol. I told you it would hold a LOT. It's great that it opens all the way up like that and then amazing that it closes. But Yah i might know what you're talking about. Just pull the top straps tight and Make sure sure they're in the guide hooks. Then pull the bottom straps.

I was going to get Storm or Black but just hoped I'd like the Double Tap. It is dark grey and black not blue and black lol like the video said. I like the zippers. I zipped a grocery bag in to one and it still worked! What color is your Rush 72?

i would even say it has a green ting to the grey. But i think your video shows just like my 72 rush and 10 moab look like. With my Galaxy 5 it won't fit in there which is sad. my bite fitting does fit thought the mollie.i I hate those little clips are crap.
