      +zcamaross09 I bought 2002 Legacy sedan, it cost me 1200 $ including insurance and taxes , crank does not start, no spark no fuel injection, I spent 18 hours to figure out the problem, the crank shaft sensor wasn't plugged, and the camshaft sensor two wires was shorted, fixed it and it is running like it should, then I cleaned all the interior and bought complete set of seats from 2006 Impreza WRX for only 80 $ which is not a normal price, another 80 $ for steering rack, and a replaced the front shock absorbers, steering pump and steering fluid hoses from my 1998 wagon, now I am saving money for central lock modules and new paint job.
      I love the 98 wagon more than any other car. but it turned to money pit

    Nice install and video. Love the tools.. amazing tools. Also I got to say I'm curious of the type of people who would reuse a pressure plate after being in there lol. Like I don't care if it's a thousand dollar pressure plate. You are a dummy or a cheapaas to replace the clutch and not the pressure plate if you are replacing the whole clutch imo.
    But I guess for people that track hard and go through clutch plates fast want to keep the pressure plate if it's basically new it just seems strange to me if you burnt through a clutch that fast you probably caused some damage and insane heat on that pressure plate in that time.

    @MrSubaru1387 I have a 2011 WRX and I am fairly sure the clutch is gone. Its my sons car so I only know what it is doing now. The clutch slips immediately at idle. You can let out the clutch in 1st parked and the idle will drop slightly, like an automatic. When you release the brakes it will creep, add some gas and it will crawl. Once you get it moving you can apply the brakes and stop the car in gear. I have never had a clutch go like this. I checked all the axles, and they are fully seated. Is there anything else I can check to be certain its the clutch?

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  7 лет назад

      +Norsology it depends on the wear. I run it to the local O'Reilly's, if they can resurface, then I pay the $10 and go. If they can't resurface, I buy new. It's a waste of time and money to install a new clutch kit on a burnt, glazed, warped flywheel.

My clutch fork seems to have displaced to far and is even twisted on an angle. Is it possible the clutch fork has broken or something within the clutch? I just purchased an Exedy clutch kit for my '08. I was disappointed the pilot bearing is labeled "CHINA" and there is no country of origin marking on the throw out bearing. I ordered a Timken Throw out bearing to use in the place of the one with the kit. I almost always use OEM parts but I don't think Subaru clutch and clutch bearings are superior to warrant the higher price. What kits do you usually buy?

    • @MrSubaru1387

    Have you heard about the dual mass flywheel to flexi flywheel conversions on the 06 legacy models? The former is ridiculously expensive, had issues with life, and owners have dubbed it as a defect. Wondering if you've heard/experienced for yourself if the flexi flywheel is the fix?

    • @MrSubaru1387

      Yea, the dual mass flywheel is about $700. As far as I know, you should be able to swap the dual mass for a single mass, as long as you use to corresponding pressure plate and clutch disk for that flywheel.

    If you were to leave the motor in the car on an 03 wrx would it be better to unbolt the motor mounts or just leave them? and how did you hold the motor still while tightening did you just use a rachet on the crank bolt

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  7 лет назад

      +MrSHAMSHIT leave the motor in and remove transmission? Definitely the hard way. Also if you unbolt the motor mounts the engine will fall forward into the radiator and kicking up at an angle were it'll be almost impossible to realign the transmission for reassembly. Had a crank holding tool on the pulley. Socket and ratchet work as well.

    • @MrSHAMSHIT

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  7 лет назад

      +MrSHAMSHIT I understood what you asked. Pulling the transmission rather than the engine, the engine will lean forward. Unbolting the motor mounts will cause it to fall forward into the radiator.

After the install the car is acting like it's still slipping. I'm afraid to drive it. It will go into gear great and the pedal has good feel. It's like it's not engaging or something. The clutch fork has some play in it. Fluid is topped off. No burning clutch smell. Weird.I do feel some vibration in the driveline. But why red loctite? Isn't that permanent?

      Blue is low strength, red is high strength, green is basically permanent.

    very informative!
    would be nice to include the specialty tools used.
    is the alignment tool universal or does it have to come from SUBARU?
    thanks again

      @lllowelll 6 лет назад

      +TEETEE BIRD they basically should fall back into place. You shouldn't have to pull them or force them to hook up.

      @@MrSubaru1387 Awesome. Thank you! I really appreciate how responsive you are as far as questions go. Everytime I have something to ask, you always respond. I appreciate that a lot.
      You're a real genuine dude. You help out so many people in life. If you weren't here to share your knowledge in the manner that you do, it turns a simple fix. Into "Oh shit, am I even going to have enough money to eat this month?" Or "it's either the car or I pay rent. But, I can't pay rent in the future without the car. I might loose everything. " Those are extreme scenarios, but it's real life. The amount of effort and time you put into everything literally saves us all thousands. For real, thank you.

      Agree. The crankshaft wants to turn when you torque the bolts.

    Can you do a video on pulling the motor out? Or just pulling the transmission out?

    • @MrSubaru1387
      @MrSubaru1387  6 лет назад +1

      I have on the H6. It's quite similar for all Subaru engines. I do plan to do a H4 engine pull video too though.
