I know Mexicans had writing, I don't know whether Incans did. Well, I speak Chinese fluently and some day will study Olmec writing. Have fun!!
@@QuizmasterLaw the incas didn't have a written script that we know of but they did have the next best thing...
I don't know if you've heard of Miniminuteman but he's doing something very similar in a few months
If only I had money, I'd schedule to go on both of his trips and this one, lol.
Oh yes. I got a good chuckle when he announced it. But hey, that's means everyone gets two trips to pick from!
@@AncientAmericasdecisions decisions
I'd never think a miniminuteman and ancient americas crossover was so close yet so far
I just read this after writing about it on another video!
Thank you for your efforts. Glad we get amazing opinions both ways.
Its awesome that you're gonna visit my home country! I went to Cusco last year and it was amazing. From there I visited Macchu Pichu and Maras and I went on an ATV tour of the countryside. I hope your visit to Macchu Pichu is a guided tour because the guide really makes all the difference, it made the experience way more enjoyable than it could have been. The restaurants around the city center of Cusco are extremely good, but give a shout if you want some recommendations! I hope that everyone going on this adventure has fun and also watch out for the soroche!
Thanks! Yes, there will be a guide. As much as I know, I'll even get close to how knowledgeable a good local guide is.
Unfortunately i have to disagree the guides in Cusco / Macchu Picchu are not really good, they are full of black legend against the Spanish and rose legend for the Inca.
I am so happy and excited for everyone who is lucky enough to be able to join this trip !
Thank you very much Ancient Americas, and please share the photos and videos of this trip!
Excited for you. Can't wait to go myself later. These Peru videos will be invaluable to me. You always put out great work. Thanks!
Thanks! I honestly have given much thought to what content will follow this. I'm sure when I eventually cover the incas, I'll use the photo and video I record on this trip.
Lima is the Food Capital of Latin America .
Looks like fun. I wish I could go, but May is my busiest month for craft shows. I'm sure you will have fun.
Thank you, Andreas bach, you are a Light Worker and Bringer of the Living Light. Light is information built on the foundation of truth and love, what you do with it is just as important. Your service to humanity bath past and present, and on to the next generations is crucial.
Sounds fun. Good luck.
I made this trip on my honeymoon. It was probably the best trip of my life
yay! I was born there (in Lima). The entire region you'll be traveling to is incredible and full of sights. But... don't plan much for your first day, the altitude is no joke
I've been in high altitude before but not as high as cusco so it's going to be interesting.
@@AncientAmericas as soon as you get off the plane you'll be handed some mate, which helps. But after feeling fine most of the afternoon, by nightfall I felt so weak I could hardly move. Luckily we were only about 20 yards from our hotel room. After that I acclimated and didn't have an issue the rest of my time there
@@egoborder3203 Appreciate the advice! My wife used to live with an Argentinian exchange student so I'm no stranger to mate. It's a great pick-me-up! I assume it's pretty easy to buy over there?
Peru was my first choice on the voting form, and I'm really excited to see you going! I took a class on the history of Peru and the Andean Region at my uni last year, and it sounds like an awesome opportunity, but alas, as a student I can't afford a trip like this. I hope you and everyone who goes has a great time, and hopefully you can find some good content there for the rest of us!
You are a Light Worker and a Bringer of the Living Light! Thank you for your service to humanity.
Wow! So so. Lucky. Have a blessed time
Thank you!
Salt pans sites are definitely interesting and worthy of understanding better. Salt still being produced exactly as have been done for centuries is exciting to know. I've searched for ancient salt pans here and have found some full of sea salt caused by surf action!
I would love to go! Now all I have to do is save my money and convince my parents to let me go! Peru is one of my top travel destinations in my bucket list
This made me soo excited! Although, do you have a discord or something where viewers can easily communicate. It’d be nice to get to know some of the potential trip-mates before going ;)
I don't have a discord but I do want to organize a few online hangouts before the trip so everyone can get to know each other. If you want to reach out to me, go to the about section on my channel page and find my email. I check it daily so I'll get the message.
@@AncientAmericasI didn’t find your email in the about section but I can ask here. Where do I eventually sign up? I’m unfortunately not a member yet and the trip information doesn’t display any registration options for me.
@@AntoneII registration opens to the public on Monday morning. I'll announce it on the channel. Early registration is open on Patreon though. Let me know if you have more questions!
God bless
It's awesome your visiting my home country! Cuzco region it's wonderful by itself, and the dates you've chosen are great too (May it's long after the rainy season, and luckily El Niño have had passed as well)
Good to know!
I'm so happy you will be visiting Peru! My Fiancée was born there near the Moche Valley and I've been lucky enough to visit a few times and there is so much rich culture and history everywhere you go! Shame theres no time to visit every historical site as i spent most of my time visitng sites up on the north coast line like Huaca del Sol y Luna and would definitely recommend but Macchu Pichhu is well worth it! Word of the wise dont eat meat or heavy items when in Cusco if you get motion sick as the altitude sickness will hit hard! The food is second to none as well!
If this had come up 5 years ago, id be the first booked. But because of health issues, i sadly have to pass.
Sweet. Imma start saving NOW!
Awesome!! And there are even more mindblowing places in the same Cusco than the ones mentioned in the video. Next trip you can visit Caral, Moche, Nazca and Chavin archaeological sites, which are also breathtaking... psdt little known but a fantastic archeological site of Peru: Kuelap
Oh yes! Kuelap is on my list! I'd love to go there someday!
YEAH!!!!!!
I'll do everything I can to be there. I admire you so much and this would be life changing.
This sounds really cool! I love learning about Peruvian cultures and history. I won't be able to go on this one due to planned life events during that time, but you should definitely do something like this again!
If this is a success, I'd like to do a trip once a year.
@@AncientAmericas That would be so cool. What other locations do you have in mind?
@@AncientAmericas do the same trip in 25 and my wife and I will go
@@gregbarnes1580 we will see! I hope we can do another trip the following year.
WOOOAH! Have fun 🇵🇪🇵🇪
Thanks!
Oh man, would love to do this if something like it happens again in the future and I have the time/funds then
Hey i actually live in Peru, and have been to all these places, but can i join along on your trip anyways, i know how to get to all these places on the cheap and eat local from the markets, would just love to tag along or meet up around these sites and areas to show you around more... and you're not going to go see Caral near Lima, you have to do Caral extremely easy to get there from Lima 15$ bus ride one day trip.. lol probably should definitely do a day trip to Caral eh
Shoot me an email if you'd like to meet up. I can't promise anything since plans can change. I'd definitely like to get to caral someday but it's probably not gonna happen on this trip.
@@AncientAmericas i'll e-mail you.. got so much information to share.. basically i'd love to go on your trip, but won't need to be paying hotel/food/travel cost and all the jazz, we'll chat though.. but ya supper rad your going to Peru very exciting.
Unfortunately I am unable to go on such a trip, but I hope everyone enjoys themselves and has a lovely time.
Im excited, are you excited
CAN'T WAIT!
@@AncientAmericas I'd like to interview you.. when you get back maybe, if you're willing.
@@CaucAsianSasquatch hit me up at my email any time!
Thank you Ancient Americas@@AncientAmericas
I am really tempted despite having no funds and already being committed to travel to Mexico next year with friends. I hope there will be more trips in the future I can join in on.
I hope so too! Enjoy Mexico! Where in Mexico are you going if you don't mind me asking?
@@AncientAmericas Thanks dude! Enjoy Peru. We haven't worked all the details out yet, but it looks like CDMX, Teotihuacan and Cholula will be on the itinerary
@@connormurphy683 Sounds like an amazing trip! Have fun!
God I want to do this so bad! Sadly, I'm about to begin moving on the reconstruction, an likely artificial replacement of not one but both hip joints. If for any reason I'm actually able to do this trip and can still register in time, I am there. It's things like this that make staring at my phone for hours on end so worth it.
I live in Lima, would love to join you at least an evening and show you guys the best spots to eat our food
Have fun guys
Thanks!
Oh MAAAAAAN do I ever wanna try this
My god I wish I could go!!
I would love to go
Please do a trip like this again soon! I totally missed this video announcement and am so sad!
Hopefully next year!
What are some good books to read in preparation for the trip? Regarding Peruvian history and archaeological discovery.
Good question! I'm in the process of reading the Incas by Terence D'Altroy. If you want something not focused on the inca, you might check out The Incas and their Ancestors by Michael Mosely or The Ancient Central Andes by Jeffrey Quilter. I'm not sure about colonial and post-colonial history though.
I would recommend, in addition to D'Altroy, Mosely and Quitter: the Last Days of the Incas by Kim MacQuarrie, condenses the fall of the Inca Empire at the hands of the Spanish; for the Cusco region in modern times, Cusco Tales by Richard Nisbit; for archaeological discovery of Machu Picchu:Turn Right at Machu Picchu, by Mark Adams.
@@AncientAmericas Thank you! I definitely have to add those to my reading list :)
@@GringoLoco Thank you as well, my reading list is expanding thanks to you :)
You're going to Peru. Miniminuteman's going to Peru. And I cannot afford to. Son of a...
Sorry. Maybe join us on the next trip!
@@AncientAmericas so are you going to do more of these in the future to other countries?
Stayed there for 30 days
Anything in the Cuzco area you'd recommend? Which museums were your favorite?
@@AncientAmericas literally stayed in the greater Lima area and only visited Huaca ruins. And the other pre-Incan pyramids made out of clay bricks.
I went to Peru on a high school trip. It was beautiful. It really makes you appreciate the Inca and hate the Spanish.
Not Spanish but more the conquistadors. It wasn’t all of Spain or the individual people.
This is crazy, i literally started planning my peru trip earlier TODAY, but its for October - November of this year, btw i guess you'll have to try the roasted guinea pig as the touristy thing but PLEASE try the food that most peruvians actually eat regulatly, Also you cant leave without trying lucuma !
😂😂 Peruvians definitely eat roasted cuy (guinea pig) very very regularly
Thanks for the advice! Enjoy your trip!
@@jakekasey3310 there is always a contrarian omg. sure the people who live in the rural mountains eat them... and tourists. All im saying is that peru had a truly incredible cuisine, so it'll be a shame not to all the things it has to offer. btw i've never seen cuy on a peruvian restaurant menu, i've never been served cuy at peruvian friend's homes, most of the peruvians i know either have never had cuy or had at touristy spots.
its kinda like how in Thailand some people do eat scorpion but you'd only see them at touristy spots, you'd never see a Thai person actually eating if, and makes sense thai food is awesome, you'd only eat that if you have little alternative. The US equivalent is kinda like how some people in rural areas eat road kill.
@@franbalcal no no no Cuy a very very common thing everywhere 😅i can hear the cries of the cuy now Clarice, ladies walking around with bags of em in the markets, not just a rural thing it's a Peruvian thing.. but ya a lot of great food for sure
That sounds awesome but we are in NZ and poor AF 😢 Have fun.
Words cannot describe how jealous I am of those able to go. If someone wants to pay for a travel companion hit me up though! 😂
I'll let you know if a free spot opens up but I wouldn't hold your breath.
heck yea my mohie
👍🏻🇵🇪🌎
Will you ever go again?? To Peru 😁 I’d like to go the second time around too
I'd like to go a second time someday.
I know local people in Cusco that can give a hand if you want some filming and drone shots. They live there and maybe can help to save good money.
I would love to go and visit those sites but sadly i live in the amazonian region so its kinda hard to go there. :c
Thank you! I'll let you know if I need anything!
Peru and Bolivia has the most amazing stuff and the most amazing history.
Will you touch on the 11 mile super ancient wall of rock paintings in some video?
Which paintings? Are you referring to those really old ones in Colombia?
@@AncientAmericas Yeah. Its like 8 miles long and the dates are insane. Like 10 000 bc
@@frosty6960 Thanks!
I don’t have the funds but tienes divertito para mi 😢
Will y'all be interacting wiht the Milo Rossi trip? It would be interesting for y'all to collab in a video while on the trip.
His trip is this fall and mine is next spring so unfortunately, we won't be there at the same time. That would be cool though!
Could you do a video about the indigenous peoples of California?
It's on the list! Hopefully, we'll get to it next year.
Does this trip fly to and back from Cusco? Also assuming the given price is $USD?
The trip cost doesn't cover plane tickets to Cusco, you have to cover that on your own. And yes, the price is US Dollars.
Coolio, It sounds like a lot of fun.@@AncientAmericas
How about Caral-Supe? Go deep!!
I would LOVE to visit the coast but that will have to wait until a future trip!
That's what i said, its a short cheap bus trip from Lima, and all international flights fly into and leave from Lima, 😅 no excuse not to take an extra day trip to see Caral.
@@jakekasey3310 I am with you Jake. Specially when the civilization that live there is about 5k years old. Pre inka.
@@joseyglesias3743 jejeje @ancientAmericas i personally offer you a free guided trip to Caral from Lima, (you have to pay for you'er cheap bus fair though) 😅 we'll do it real local style as well.. take you to the beach after too eh... commmeee oonnnn lolz you have to
Salutations from Brazil is registration still open per chance?
Yup! I believe we have one spot open.
Don't forget to chew coca leaves or drink tea for the altitude sickness
Thanks for the advice!
I hope people know to acclimate to high altitude. Nearly 10k feet can cause altitude sickness to the unprepared, especially if it’s rapid (like driving). Be mindful of this, it can ruin a trip.
I'm no stranger to altitude. I used to ski in the Rockies when I was younger and the first two days at altitude can be brutal.
@@AncientAmericas In my hiking days we had one instance of one person having to be hauled to lower altitude. This was a legendarily calamitous trip. Another got heat exhaustion on a different day. The earliest part had another had to be taken back to camp because her boots were not broken in. the blisters were … big. that was a crazy summer.
@@GhostOnTheHalfShell it's gonna be an adventure.
Wow, I am trying to plan a trip like this, but that is too far out of my budget.
Peru is a pretty cheap place to travel. The plane ticket is probably gonna set you back the most.
Can a local come aboard too? lmao.
Feel free to sign up!
Archeological Peru was left mainly intact compared to the irreversible damage the spaniards made in all of Mexico’s temples ,pyramids , houses , village structures etc. . Brought down hundreds of structures to build new structures like churches, haciendas , housing for spaniards etc. very sad mexico’s ancient architecture will never be fully restored or recognized as it was in its grandeur before conquest ..
Peru’s archeological sites just look like abandoned medieval fully intact towns compared to the piles of rubble and ruins the spaniards left in mexico ….
Ehhhhh... the Spanish destroyed a lot in Peru too. Cuzco has more pre-colonial construction that's still visible compared to Mexico City but that's usually because the Spanish build on top of it. There are plenty of other sites in Peru that the Spanish almost completely looted and destroyed. The conquistadors were very beligerant guests.
@@AncientAmericas nonetheless both countries archeological sites are damaged and were looted but i feel like it took the worst toll in central and western mexico than in peru and even the maya areas
@@AncientAmericas and it was still going on around mexico even after colonial times there was still looting but this time it was just locals hoping to make a quick find and a quick buck selling mesoamerican items to shady collectors .. my great uncles used to go around digging up certain areas around western jalisco and colima and found figurines and pottery items and would sell them to collectors . And it just further ruins the archeological data we have in mexico also due to some people not caring about archeology in these areas and just destroying these areas and building over them ..
@@clo8862 central mexico definitely got hit harder than most places.
First
If possible please visit whichever museum has the old Inca bronze tools and weapons and record some videos. I think it might be in Lima, I've seen pictures online of club heads that look like gears from today but it would be cool have confirmation that they're real, lol. Also the guy from smartereveryday on his alternate channel visited machu picchu years ago and parts of it were being rebuilt with stone split by wedge and shims so be on the lookout for the fake areas of it.
I've got my eye on a few museusm in Cusco but I'm not aware if any specifically have bronze tools.
