I laughed very hard at this 15 years ago and I still do. Either I have not developed much from early adulthood or this is just generally funny. I think this and most other of their songs from this era are very funny and well put together.
I've heard the "final"/"album" version of this so many times, it's wild to hear how much they play around with the song here! Jemaine even comes in at the "wrong" place at 4:00, but he just resets in the next measure and they roll with it so well. They must just riff and riff and riff.
Funnily enough, this is probably the most well-known version. This means it's basically the quintessential version for most people, and they see the others as weird.
They change little things in many songs in their live performances, it gives the audience ( who often know the songs well) little things to look forward to or whatever :P
Any of these songs that got on the show do seem weird compared to here. When this premiered I almost turned it off thinking they were gonna be a hack musical act. So glad I didn't,it was one of the greatest things I've ever seen and 2 years later they got their own show. I wish there would've been at least one more season
For anyone looking for this answer today, this show was part of HBO's series, "One Night Stand", and is currently available on Amazon Prime Video: www.amazon.com/One-NIght-Stand-59-Conchords/dp/B00KG2SMYI

Best duo of entertainerers I've ever seen. These guys have lots of talent and humor as well. Wish some day I could see them live. Do they even tour or make these funny yet nice songs now?
I dont know why im leaving a coment saying how funny these guys are. since if you are reading this you have seen them or are currently watching them. Well not curently but just were as I foundcout yiu cant write a comment and keep ths clip rolling.
Z Mac don't know how Z Mac got there...phones...shoot, electronic machines...anyway _forgot what I was gonna say, damn oh yeah, these guys are sooooo great, they seem like friends from high School. that's bit!!
I was at one of their gigs awhile ago, and they said that all they're lyrics are written, but their performance is mostly "go-with-the-flow". They did mention there's some improv'ed parts of their songs. Like the end of this song as well as the solo rap in "Hiphopopotamus vs. the Rhymenocerous"

Try Jack Dee
Steven Wright.
Ophelia Beckham they are among the greats of that style, for that also really recommend James Acaster.
May i add Leslie Nielsen to the list ?
@@ethrez I love Jack Dee but he's not as good as these two.
Heard about monkey pox on the news and instantly thought of Jemaine singing “Who’s touching these monkeys?”
leave these poor sick monkeys alone

After all the covid hassle, monkey pox just made me think: "aaah, fun monkey disease."
It's getting a revival now again. :D

They raise a really important question about shoe prices.
Also inappropriate monkey-touching.

Slain. The number of killer lines in this song is unreal.
this is the only line idont get from the song, can you explain it to me?
@@VonRibbitt overheads refers to costs outside of direct costs of producing a good, he's asking why sneakers aren't cheaper since the labour cost for them is so low (what are the overheads that leads to them being so expensive)
Most sneakers are made in China by child slave labor. There, I said it.
Their humor is so unique

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think you're on the wrong channel.

Oh, okay. Thanks for telling me
did he mention FotC in a game grumps episode? PLEASE, I NEED TO KNOW WHICH EPISODE!!!!!

These songs never get old for me!
The timing on "because your children... aren't real" was perfect
This song is just more relevant than ever nowadays
Now we're the monkeys.
Yeah I got called jork twice today! :'(
even more relevant now than 8 months ago oh no ;__;
@@FOnewearl Even more now and probably even more in the future.
I love the part at 5:27 where Jemaine struggles to find out in which octave to say "We're talking about the issues but we're keeping it funky".
Really hard to choose a favourite line from this, but I just love "Can somebody please, remove these, cutleries, from my knees" So good!
Considering almost every moment is time stamped as “best part”.. I’d say these two are perfection
The real best part is where he raps in the chorus and mumbles lol what are your overheads and when the guy cries cause he’s got knives in his leg lol
Jemaine mumbling at 3:34 kills me! Love these guys XD
But what does he say?
Nothing dude.

The song is not only exremely funny but also sounds super awesome! They are really great musicians!
my fotc obsession has ruined me. I walk around all day quoting them and no one knows what I’m talking about.
IN TERMS OF VOLUME!!!
Me too, always. I look around when the boys are going crazy at my preschool snd inaudibly murmur -’too many di**s on the dancefloor’
