    No don't go to the top of Skytree at night. The windows are super reflective of the lighting inside and you can't take any decent pictures of the city without shrouding your lenses against the windows.

    You missed the obligatory stop at Tsukiji Outer Market…..which is the tourist trap to end all tourist traps. Yes, we’ve done it, but have stopped going because it’s ridiculously overcrowded to the point where moving is difficult (similar to Nishiki in Kyoto).

    I just finished making an itinerary last week and the places you listed are the same as those I've made lmao. The only difference was opting for Odaiba for Teamlabs and the night cruises instead of Disney. Yes, I'm a first-timer going to Japan. For my first trip, I wanna do the generic stuff and leave the off-the-beaten type stuff in my other visits.

    Harajuku was underwhelmng. there was an interesting motorcycle place/restaurant?? there but not much else there. i still havent seen Gojira there... its on my list oneday if i can return. taking things slow at your own pace is very good. plan for 2-4 places to visit everyday but have a few other places to visit if you happen to check off the main sites quicker than planned.

    Really appreciate your honest and humorous perspective! I don’t believe in taking a day off though. Especially for a trip as short as one week. Personally, I like to maximise the time & money put into a trip so I always plan a full itinerary with time to rest in the evening at the hotel. If I get back a good time and have a full 8 hours sleep, that is more than enough time to recuperate. However, looking on the Japan travel sub, it seems like those from North America will struggle with being on their feet a lot haha. I always see people asking about what kind of shoes or trainers to wear and I wonder if they do much walking besides going from their house to the car, then the parking lot to their destination 😅

    • @Alexwhatisit
      @Alexwhatisit 7 дней назад +4

      Lot of the pro wrestling I’m doing in Tokyo during the new years. NOAH, NJPW, stardom, marigold. Those are the ones I’m checking out and given how many events going on I’m going to be pretty busy.
      Admittedly I did see someone mention TeamLab, yeah I’m doing that, but then I’m mainly focused on bespoke Japanese fashion and Pokemon cards so depending on locations, I don’t plan on checking out stuff like “the crossing” on purpose.
      Lot of stuff I like about Japan, but I’m not really into anime(retro Pokemon aside). Love the history.
      And for the “day trip out of Tokyo “ I’m going to try and go check out Nikkō, where Tokugawa Ieyasu is supposedly entombed and do some hiking.
      Oh and for the Techno/House. I’m planning on going to WOMB. If you’re into Techno/House, check them out. They bring out the big DJ’s
