I store my completely finished layouts in d ring albums by year. Then I have a Christmas one that is separate. I have plans for some other special albums like senior albums, travel albums and wedding albums. When I started putting my layouts in yearly albums, it has helped me figure out what is missing
I really like the idea of that... mine are still a work in progress, I really do HATE putting pages away. Thanks for sharing how you do yours, it's always so helpful to hear how others have done them and to get ideas that way. ⭐️
Hi Gwen! I love your craft room. I live the US and buy albums from Hobby Lobby when they are 40% off so they are around $13. They have discontinued my two favorite ones so I may look elsewhere now. I also have the Ikea furniture and love it. I agree less is best and it's to purge when things pile up. Thank you for sharing your ideas they are very helpful. I just started watching your videos and I really enjoy them.
I forgot I changed that! Yeah, it is better as a peninsular rather than in the centre of the room it feels bigger in here which is good. Byyeeeee PEACH 🍑
@Created By Gwen I live in the US and I think they are expensive here. I only buy them on sale and the last time I bought one the selection of covers was boring and limited. Maybe make your own albums as junk journalers do? Chipboard or heavy cardboard for the cover base? Love your crafting space 😃
Thanks for the insight! I thought everything in the US was super cheap, good to know. I like your idea of making my own, but I know I just wouldn't do it.... I mean, I could... but would I??? 🧐 Thanks for popping by today and offering up this idea.
@@CreatedByGwen I see you got lots of 'make it yourself' album ideas. 🙂 The metal ring idea with no cover seems good except they don't stand up, like an album, when full (unless I'm not picturing correctly what they mean by rings) so how would you store those?🤔 Maybe 2 draw stackable file cabinets in your closet with layouts in hanging folders? Unless those are too expensive too.
@@geminigena I did think about the lack of covers on the books with just the metal rings. The other thing I'm thinking is that making my own may be just as expensive as buying some of the more generic ones (if I can get them on sale) not to mention the time that would take, time that I'm not scrapbooking. Soooo... I'm still not entirely sure what to do about that. I do like the idea of storing them in some kind of draws though, maybe that could work? I like the idea of the ring pages, but you are right, they would need to go 'somewhere' and where would that be, I'm not sure.
I didn't realize there was such a huge price difference in albums. I typically spend between $20 and $30 US dollars for an album, sometimes a bit less. There are some that cost more but I don't typically purchase those. Yoy could use the clear Iris type 13x13 containers to store completed layouts in? Those containers seem like they may be easier to handle when you want to look at your layouts. Good luck. Nice space.
Yep... the cheapest I can find here so far is $32.99, those are $49.99 on sale right now and they are a generic brand. WRMK albums I've seen for $75 😬 They come with 10 inserts but obviously you need to buy more than that to fill it. I do have some of those cheaper ones and they are quite good. I might just have to stick to those. I like the idea of those 13x13 containers, I can get them here for $20 and I even already have some spare. Thanks for popping by today and sharing your ideas.
💜💜💜tfs💜💜💜 I only use D ring albums and I always store my LO's inside an album, being D Ring it's easy to move them about.. that said, I scrapbook for my family not because I'm on any design teams or anything. I cannot wait to move so I can set up my room, I have so much packed up and haven't seen in ages it will be like Christmas in Chelle's Crafty Corner!! LOL
I do like the D-ring albums, they are the best for fitting more in and you're right, I like how you can shuffle things easily. It was the worst having to box everything up and be without it even just for a few weeks, I can't imagine how hard it must be to go without it for ages. I bet it will be worth it though when you do get into your new space, Christmas indeed!! You'll have to share a pic, I really love seeing inside peoples spaces.
Hey Joanne, thank you! Yeah, it's easier though when you have fewer supplies that's for sure. I get overwhelmed very easily, so for me and my crazy brain, I find it better to have less clutter and fewer supplies which means the space ends up looking really neat and tidy pretty easily. Some people are quite blow away by how little I have for someone who has been crafting for so long. I just don't store up supplies because managing them becomes too overwhelming for me. Thanks for popping by today and taking the time to send me this kind message. 🌸
Beautiful craft room! I wish IKEA still sold the deep drawers. I also have the 5 x 5 Kallax, which I bought used, basically brand new! Where did you get your pink pom pom garland? I’ve looked & looked for them, in those exact colors! Also, I’m wondering what you store in the 2 bottom left cubes of your big Kallax, which are hidden by your 2 x 2 unit. My craft room is pretty small, so I have to use every bit of space. Thanks for sharing!
So glad you enjoyed this... yes, if only they did still sell those deep draws, I would switch out some of the double draws with those if I could! The pink garland I got ages ago, I am pretty sure it was from Adairs (the homewares store). I haven't seen them in a while though. They were in with their kids stuff. Those two cubbies hidden by my 2x2 unit I've kept empty. I can't get back there so I figured it was easier to just leave them empty. To be honest I'm still not 100% sure about that configuration, I feel like I am short on flat surface space which is why I've kept it but it doesn't feel perfect, I still haven't quite figured out what I could do instead, so it's good enough for now. Thanks for spending a little of your creative time with me today 🌷
You have inspired me to declutter and sort my craftroom.. it’s going to take some time.. because I’m not home very often.. I live between two houses.. 30 weeks before I’m just in one!!
Oh gosh! This comment has made my day, I cannot tell you how much better I feel with fewer supplies! You won’t know yourself when you have all of your things in one place 👌
Gorgeous room Gwen 💕. I loved a little look see into the way you org all your goodies, thank you. I think the storage of our layouts might seem like an odd question to those living in the states ect. Someone from there once said to me put a bookshelf in the wardrobe and fill it with Albums, but Album’s are SO ridiculously priced here in Australia it would cost a small fortune and to tell you the truth I get frustrated that Album’s just don’t seem to hold enough pages.
Thanks for popping by Leisha 🌸 EXACTLY, totally agree with the whole album thing. It's crazy to me that they are so expensive for us Aussies and what's worse they store so few layouts. That's why I've gone with the other system, but as I mentioned it has its flaws so I don't know what to do 😩 I like the idea of a book shelf inside the cupboard though, I do have space for that. Thinking I need an album brand to 'sponsor' my channel 🤣, that would help! Glad you enjoyed my little tour. xo
Thanks for the craft room tour. I really enjoy craft room tour videos for inspiration. You have a lovely, well organised space! 😊 I hear you with the cost of albums in Australia. It is so expensive and options are limited. I have a local Kaisercraft store and buy 12x12 albums when they have a 50% off sale. They do this fairly frequently for loyalty members. This is the best option I can find for me right now.
Hey Catherine! Thank you so much for the tip, I didn't think Kaisercraft had any craft things anymore, I thought it was all gifts and such. I'll take a look online with them, maybe sign up to their emails and wait for a screaming deal. Appreciate you letting me know 🫶
No worries! Kaisercraft has certainly changed a lot over the years hasn’t it, but they do still stock art and craft supplies among the plethora of other homewares and gifts etc. They seem to have more frequent in store sales for loyalty members, but I am signed up for their emails and they do have some good sales that pop up for online and in store from time to time. Hopefully they will have another good sale at EOFY if not before. 😊
Love your room❤. Storing layouts is costly and a good topic. I have d-ring albums and am thinking of different ways to store them with out using plastic protectors and not hole punch into the layout itself 🤔
It sure is! You could use the 13x13 zip log baggies, but for me I didn't think the inserts were really that expensive. So far of all the suggestions made here, I'm thinking inserts and then just jump rings, so no album part but they are still protected by the inserts. They could be flipped through this way too. Thanks for popping by today lovely. 🌸
Hey there, All of the draws in the Kallax are from IKEA, I'm always worried other brands won't fit so haven't tried any that aren't from IKEA. I know the big brown ones though they don't sell anymore which is such a shame. I think my favourites no are the big white ones. The face that they have a lid is so good, no more dust getting inside the draws. I'm an Aussie, and when I go to the IKEA website it comes up with a bunch of suggestions for draws for the unit. I just checked through those and chose ones that fit the look of my space.
@@CreatedByGwen hi, I’ve looked on IKEA’s website and I can’t find the deep drawers. I’m in Australia also and I have the set of 2 drawers but cannot find the deep ones.
@@kassandrairving1056 Ohhhh I know the ones you mean now, the wooden draws, yeah, they don't make those either anymore, no idea why because they are really good. Sorry I can't help :(
Thanks so much Gloria... less is best for me, that's for sure. So, albums, here in Australia albums are around $50-$60 each and choice is very limited, so that's the main big problem. I have hundreds of layouts and each album doesn't fit that many. So I guess, right now, the main reason is the expense of it. I think it is a lot different in the USA, everything there is so much more affordable.
@@CreatedByGwen Wow, I knew things were more expensive, but that's almost double here. Would you consider putting them in sleeves and on rings? Maybe you could create your own covers- fabric-covered chipboard? Thanks again for your inspiration!
@@gloriannerusate9726 Yep, everything is super expensive here. I just went to purchase the latest set of Washi tapes from Maggie Holmes new line and they are $19,95 here! It's crazy. I like the idea of just putting them on rings, so buying the inserts but not the outside part. That could work too.
Great storage system Gwen! I am thankful that I can still get albums here at a reasonable cost at Hobby Lobby. However, that said…I am getting short on space in my kallax for them. I have started using Heidi Swapp’s Chapters books for telling the stories. They are smaller and don’t take up as much room. I keep them for different topics. I still keep a few 12x12 albums and will always enjoy doing a 12x12 layout every now and then. Thanks for sharing 😊
@@marthastrickland7148 You are so lucky Martha, I really wish we had something here like Hobby Lobby. I really need to look into those Heidi Swapp Chapter books, I've seen glimpses of them and need to know more because I am running out of space and just can't keep everything. I don't want to stop making 12 x 12 pages but need a long term storage option that won't cost the earth. Thanks for popping by today, it's always so nice chatting to you in the comments.
