I insert a 1 gallon zip lock bag into the bucket then the screen and thinner. This allows you to pour off the clean thinner if you intend to recycle it then remove the screen and clean it. The inside of the bucket remains clean. The remaining sludge in the bag may then be disposed of according to your local area laws. If you don’t recycle the thinner just remove the screen and recycle.
Dont giveaway all the secrets too early now ha ha ha.
Thanks for sharing buddy 😝
Please make a video on "Disposal of Paint Thinner"! I would love that.
I will add it to the list 💪
@@WildCreates maybe what the rules would be in different countries too like australia
When he posts you know it’s going to be a good day
Hopefully you enjoyed the video :)
You are not supporting Bob Ross. His decendents were ripped off by someone else. Watch the Netflix video. Bob was a good painter and teacher and an extremely nice and trusting guy. But his decendents got shafted by a sue happy couple that had good lawyers.
If you take a look at my content you will see that I have already talked about the doc. You can see it here ( ruclips.net/video/UmRzzlwDbpE/видео.html ).
Because of the doc, my community wanted to know if there are any good alternatives to BRI products. You can check out some of them below, including the BRI bucket,
- Bucket Alternatives: ruclips.net/video/eTeMqNEuxig/видео.html
- Oil Color Alternative: ruclips.net/video/RlB_cDupJpI/видео.html
I've been waiting for this for a year now! Great :))
I hope you will enjoy the video
Can't wait for more tips!
Feel free to give me suggestions on what you would like to see - I am here to help 🔥
I bought one and I really like my bob ross bucket 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad to hear it and thanks for the feed back on it.
Hey, Wild! When can we expect the video about removing the paint residue? (By the way, I found your channel this week and I love it!)
I hope to work on it this week - Weather have been overcast here, since I plan on shooting it somewhat out side. Stay tuned buddy. :)
I'm not giving BRI any more money than i would have to, which is really none. I'm not supprting them.
A lot of the community feels the same way which is way I have made and still making a few BRI alternative videos. You can check out a few of them below.

So awesome! Hahaha I accidentally bought two as well! Ordered one off of Amazon and 3 and a 1/2 weeks later they told me that they lost the package, so I ordered another 1. The very next day it showed up, and neither company offered refunds
Ha ha ha classic Murphy’s law. Don’t worry. I will show you so thing cool you can do with two buckets.
didn't realize it doesn't store the thinner for a long time. thanks bro. sometimes it's the simple things.
Always glad to give ya good information :)
Looking forward to the video on how you dispose of your thinner and paint gunk!!!
I will add it to the list for ya buddy :)
Very helpful information thanks Wild! Just one question, in this video you say not to leave thinner in the Bob Ross bucket too long, how long is long enough, say 1 month 2 months or 1 week??? Thanks Wild! 👍🤗
If you are taking a break in between paintings that is more than lets say 3-ish months. Move the thinner to an empty paint can with a lid.
Some people use the paint sludge as a canvas stain to stain their canvas before they paint.
This is true
Honest, pragmatic review. Thanks.
Glad you liked the review.
Be sure to check out my other ones to help support 💪
I had a Bob Ross bucket and screen years ago, but left the mess in it and ruined it! Years later and recently back into painting, with inspiration from you thanks, I have a black decorators bucket with a Bob Ross screen and have placed this inside a bigger fermentation bucket with lid. Would like any of your future videos with sludge and maybe types of plastic. How do you know if a bucket is a storage bucket? 🥰
I am glad I could help you get back into painting.
If you are in the USA, all plastic containers have plastic grades on them (normally on the bottom inside a triangle logo with a number). This number refers to what grade of plastic was used and what it can be used for.. You can look the graded numbers up online
Would help me alot
I will add it to the list :)
Keep up the good work though wild videos helped me a lot with making liquid white and so forth bit hard finding bob ross products in New Zealand, just as well 😉
I am glad that I can come in clutch for you buddy.
Happy Painting
Yes please. I need to know the dump process. Thanks man! Love your stuff!
Soon - Hope to get it done by next week.
Stay Tuned :)
I just found a clam steamer in my basement and it works too haha. Score
Hell ya - Use whatever works for you and your needs.
Thx enjoy your bob ross videos keep up the good work
Thanks buddy - I am glad you are enjoying them.
Thanks Wild. Newbie here, very helpful 👌
Glad to help you on your creative journey.
Has nothing to with the bucket. Just want to ask a question and don't know where to find you... I just painted on a black canvas and in two days my picture dried too dark! What did I do wrong? The top is phthalo blue and the bottom is phthalo green with a few white clouds and star burst.
In two days? Where you using acrylics? Oil will take longer to dry than 2 days?
It just sounds like you didn't add any white/lighter color on top of your blue and green to pull those colors forward. This would create contrast and make you colors brighter and pop. You can kind of see an example here ( ruclips.net/video/XKXjNQ3lMUk/видео.html )
Hope that helps
I am very against using paint thinner. Is there a way for me to do the wet on wet technique without cleaning my brushes with paint thinner I've seen other artist, clean the brushes in oil. What do you think about that?
There are a bunch of ways to clean without harsh solvents. I mention a few ways in one of mmy videos "search clean on my channel" or do a quick google search. All work BUT some maybe a little more harsh on your brush over time.
You can also consider switching over to Water Mixable oils from Winsor Newton.
Hope that helps
Another great video. Do you have a link to how to clean bob Ross brushes from start to finish?
I don't have one video that goes from start to finish but I do have a few videos that touch on the certain stages of it. Give them a peep below to help you out.

He he he - Glad I could help out.
I’d be interested in the related video !!
Also I got into the practice of using the blue shop towel roll to clean my brushes on while I’m painting ..only using thinner when I’m not going to be painting for a while ..I keep a silicoil brush cleaning tank for the Filberts and fan brushes or liner brushes ..which I NEVER beat the devil out of ..I have also been using your regular towel method to clean brushes during painting ...I do plan on buying the Bob Ross easel so I will also grab the bucket and screen because I also like to support the Bob Ross brand ..also not sure if people know but the Bob Ross website has a deals of the day section ..I’d rather buy it there and support their site rather than Amazon ...
Thanks for the videos !! Great as always
Thanks for sharing your process...
Dick Blick also has running deals on their site for BR Products. I added their links to my affiliate links below. Be sure to check them out!
@@WildCreates I definitely will...when I do order the easel I’ll try to do it through one of your links !!!
@@WildCreates just thought of another thing that irritates me about people giving the Bob Ross brushes bad reviews ..saying the hairs fall out ...there are countless episodes where this actual thing happens to Bob and he tell you exactly what to do and that it’s expected to happen with natural hair brushes
Thanks buddy I appreciate the support
Every brush will have hairs fall out. This is normal. Bob Ross brushes have this more cause there are so many hairs jammed packed in them.
I don’t get why BR didn’t make their screen to the same size of their bucket to make it snug. I use a shower drain screen inside one of those generic buckets. Thing doesn’t move while cleaning brushes.
I have the same thought - I assume maybe they want it a little lose for easily removal of the screen for cleaning and removal of paint sludge??? But, who knows!
Does all the sludge stay in bucket when pouring in tin? Otherwise all be going back in bucket again.
Drop a plastic liner in the bucket and it makes cleaning thinner super easy. Take a look at this video to see how I do it: ruclips.net/video/EaDM4eJdxAE/видео.html
Or this video to see what I use for plastic liners: ruclips.net/video/mfdbFZ7e9bU/видео.html
@@WildCreates Thanks
You are welcome buddy
Hey Wild do you have any tips on what I should do if my bob ross brushes start to fray a little? Mine are, and I'm not sure what I should do to stop the fraying or reshape them. Thanks
Yes... You wanna start using a conditioner when you are done painting. This will help nourish the brush and all you to re-shape it. Take a look at the video below for an example:
ruclips.net/video/gDaoXPk-nWQ/видео.html
Is it alright if I use the paint brushes that I use for acrylic paint for the oils or every type of paint must have a specific type of brushes?
Certain brushes are designed for certain mediums BUT in short... Any paint brush can be used for any medium. However it may not hold up for the long haul and you will have to be sure to clean it super well after ever use.
How long can you store thinner in it? Have you had thinner eat through it?
Sadly I dont know the answer cause I have never pushed it to its limits. I have never hard thinner eat through it but I haven't left thinner in for a huge amount of time either. I am sure you can leave it in there for a long time. But storing it for the long-haul wouldn't be a good idea. You might be able to find and answer if you research the number grade of plastic used to make.
@@WildCreates I went ahead and transferred mine to a mason jar. The bottom seemed a little more flimsy than when it was new so better safe than sorry.
Nice 👍
Thanks for watching buddy
I have the short glass one with the spring screen. Problem is its too short and can't leave brushes in there standing up.
If your talking about the 2” shorty one you can get from micheals. You can buy there wide mason jars and but the spring screen in there. It will give you a few extra inches. Inches matter 😝
@@WildCreates Thanks
Glad to help out buddy
