Unboxing Sonia G. Sunset Cranes Maki-e Set (Holiday 2023)

- I don't think I've ever unboxed, filmed, edited, and posted a reel so quickly after getting a new release, but I guess it means that the Sonia G. holiday set is just that special :)
As I write this, they are drying after a quick wash so I'll give my zeroth impressions now before I post comparison shots and some actual first impressions on IG once I've had a chance to actually use them.
First of all, the handles. Dimensions on the handles are the same as last year's holiday release. The red iridescence with the crane motif is beautiful and the camera doesn't do these brushes justice.
The Soft Pencil has more structure to it than I thought it would, which is surprising because I am not a big fan of pencil brushes. I also thought the gray squirrel would mean it would be too floppy but I'm not really getting that when I touch these. I guess we'll see once I actually use them. I have higher hopes for the Flat Smudger and Mini Builder as their shapes lend themselves well to my makeup application habits.
The Arched Worker is the one I'm most excited about. I suspected and was right that it's kinda like a scaled down version of the large cheek brush from her Hinoki set.

Hi! I posted a more detailed review on my IG but the tl;dr version is that they're fantastic brushes but not so good that you should feel FOMO if you missed them as there are plenty of other fude out there that serve the same function that are beautiful on their own, too. I’m still waiting on mine 😭 Had to wait until the 2nd release and the site was super laggy, I was so worried I was gonna miss it again. I’m most excited for the Arched worker for one and done looks (hopefully 🤞🏽)
