Hi! It's a different kind of soft. The fox hair makes these more robust than the Z series, so if the Z series is like silk, the Ren series is like a nice, high quality cotton. If I'm really nitpicking, I think the Ren-04 can feel just a bit pokey if I use it for transition/crease work but otherwise it's OK for eyeshadow laydown. Hope this helps, feel free to ask any more questions :)

Hello! Not silly at all ☺ I don't think that a more casual collector needs to get the full set. One large and one small brush should scratch the itch lol. The two large brushes are very similar to one another in dimensions and performance which is why I say no one needs both. The eye brushes are OK but not my favorite; I tend not to do well with pointy shaped brushes so that's also personal bias. I'd say get the large one because it can also be used for laydown; the small pointy brushes aren't worth it to me because there are other brushes I own that perform better.

@@vyh5357 It's my pleasure :) I'd recommend the kolinsky laydown brush on Bobo Fude if it ever gets back in stock; I like that shape a lot for concealer and laydown of eyeshadow

I saw other reviews that said the packaging was a problem, and I made it a point to handle the bottle with care to try and prevent this from happening. For a while it was fine. The beginning of the end was when I traveled with it, and friction in my travel bag started to make the plastic peel. At that point there was no coming back 🙁. I really hope it changes because it's such a good product otherwise. Thanks so much for watching! ☺

Yes, it's quickly becoming a favorite! It has a nice weight to it and I was able to get my name in katakana printed on the handle.

I posted a more detailed review on my IG but the tl;dr version is that they're fantastic brushes but not so good that you should feel FOMO if you missed them as there are plenty of other fude out there that serve the same function that are beautiful on their own, too. I dry with brush guards after washing, so this might affect things. After a decent amount of use over the last few months, they still haven't bloomed out much. If you've seen Jaybirdwalking's video where she demo'd the large powder brush, the ones in my collection don't bloom anywhere near as much as the one she featured on her channel.

Ah interesting. I am so interested in splurging in this set, but love the blooming Ive seen in her video. Dont use a brush guard myself thou. Hmm desicions desicions 😊
