A friend of a friend of mine has a big piece if land, about 300 acres, and he started out with a few solar panels that powered his whole house, then he invested in a couple more to sell energy back to the power company, and with the money from that, he just reinvests into more panels, and now he's got a solar farm.
+Randomsongs actually if you have enough power going into to your house the left over goes back into the power lines and yes the power company has to pay you for that electricity you put into their lines. It was due to a law passed in the 80s requiring power companies to pay you for electricity you made. Most often it is wind generators that cause the power companies to pay out not solar panels though.
Funny thing is that back in the 70's the technology to build efficient solar panels was considered a threat to national security. So the manufactures were capped at making them only 20% efficient.
The lesson on all of this: The Power Company does not want you to have your own power. They are not happy about it and they want you stuck and needing of their service. They always promise energy saving but the reality is that they want to keep you slave of the technology.
Well, no...they dont. But the law still stands behind the citizens...so if you want to produce power and send it back into the grid, you will likely get paid. What they want is one thing...what the law says is another. Fortunately....the law still has some traction. For now.......
Sometimes it's an advantage to the power company for you to generate and use your own power, and even supply electricity back to the grid. Why? Because as energy use increases with the population, the energy company will need to build new power stations. This is a significant cost to them. If it can be avoided, they will actually make more money. Power stations will always be needed as consumer power usage doesn't stop when the sun goes down. If you add batteries to a home solar setup, the payback time is significantly longer. For some it won't be economically viable. But, if fossil fuel prices continue to rise and the cost of solar panel and battery manufacture continues to fall, generating your own power will become the norm. If you "officially" supply power back to the grid rather than just run your meter backwards, you are likely to be paid more for the electricity than you are charged for using theirs.
If you wanna save on your electric bill,,,turn off all lights,,the heater,, the AC,,unplug all electronics cook outside on a camp fire,,,and after 2 weeks you`ll see a big difference in your bill
I live in a small house in the Netherlands, have 6 solar panels on my roof 24 volts each, the kind used on boats, that you do not need to tilt towards the sun. These Panels charge two 180KwH truck batteries, which are connected to two _24to220volts_ inverters which provide my house and work shed with all the power I need. Only for extreme dark periods (with low light) I have a 24volts generator driven by an old lawnmower engine to extra charge my batteries. Profit: about 2500 Euro a year, because I have no electricity bill EVER..
I am very interested in solar as i don't intend to use a lot of power anyways. basic lighting and some minimal cooking mixed with maybe some alternative heating. Maybe you will send a link for those specific panels or make a video that explains your system. That would be helpful.
Can you please email how to set up this solar power so i can uae it for my own home.my email is janetcanary2008@yahoo.com.i want to know how to set the solar panels up so they can charge up a car type battery that i can then attach to my electric to power my home.or exactly the way your powering your home with your solar panels.thanku
Actually, it varies by state. In Utah, for example, they only have to allow "net metering". Meaning anything you put into the grid, gets credited, and can be used up any time you want within a year, but they do not have to pay you for anything you generate that isn't then used within a year. Kinda sucks for us here. The trick is to figure out as closely as you can, how much energy you use in a year, and design a system which will generate as close to that amount as possible, without going over.
The only people that have been cheated are the people who watched your video hoping to get free power by cheating the electric company. You should've entitled this, 'How to power your house with solar energy, and sell the excess to the electric company'.
Most electricity companies do not simply allow you to spin their meter backwards. Doing so means that you get credited at the same rate that they bill. They do not like providing all that infrastructure so that you can get free backup power when you need it AND claim a credit on your bill. They are the electric company, not you. Most places allow you to sell some of your electricity back to them and then past that whatever you put into their system is theirs. Others allow you to claim a credit for all of your electricity, but at a much reduced rate. For example, if they charge 13 cents per kWh they want to credit you at the rate of 8 cents. On one hand it's simple monopolistic power being used to beat you up. You are actually generating power for them which they sell to someone else. On the other hand, using grid tie like it was a big battery for free is a big benefit that should not be given away for free. It is a storage device with endless capacity for putting juice into and then taking energy out of. No battery is that good. And it doesn't wear out after 8-10 years and need replacement at the cost of many thousands of dollars. So I'm not really complaining too loudly, but just saying, do not believe that you can just do this legally in most places. You can't. You will be required to install a meter showing how much you produced and they will not give you credit for all of it.
If you remove the meter and plug it in upside down... it will run backwards too. Backwards one day equals two days with no electric. You don't want to run it backwards past the last reading; that would be kind of a dead giveaway. I knew a guy who did this... he'll be out soon. We have J.P Morgan to thank for metered electricity. If Tesla was successful, we'd all have free electricity. Or... if one can down-convert the High Frequency/High Voltage that is all around us, one can have free electricity too.
Wow! Obviously, you are still living the 'American dream!' The rest of the world is not. Electiricity prices are being hiked up experientially everywhere else.
Tom Hoehler prices for hydro on vancouver island are dirt cheap compared to prices in alberta. If the housing was built the same as it is in alberta there would be even less heat loss or gain (depending on the season). Also I have heard there will be a coming cold trend for our planet and this may force better built homes anyways. Hopefully.
(Part-2) So for a dual setup, you wouldn't be paying sewer fees for the well water used. There may be local rules or laws against it. As far as "pushing" your excess well water into the "water grid", theoretically, it would work the same, but it's probably illegal because water you try to "push" back into the "grid" could be contaminated with bacteria or chemicals. They may even be able to detect reversed water flow and shut it off before it got into the public system.
good work, i have a modern system generating power. my usage is a lot higher then power generated, however if i turn off all appliances in house i end-up with same as your video. that tells me i need more panels to generate more power. or better efficiency from my panels. keep up the good work, we love your video and love to support free energy generation. you are not doing anything or robbing anyone. . . have no fear!
Correct, my meter runs backwards when I'm not using power and slows down if I'm using it and at night goes forward, I don't know why he thinks this iis a big deal. Go solar
Tom Ram do an experiment with your meter. The disk will turn backwards but do the dials (which is what is read for billing) also spin backwards. Depending on the meter some old ones will. Others stay still. Newer ones will still go forward and you pay for giving the electric company power.
Tj Smith There is a ratchet mechanism in newer mechanical meter that stops the meter going back, you would even see a little ratchet on the face of the mater. It’s the same in electronic meters. The dials would go back yes if the disc can go back
Actually, you are not cheating the power company because you paid big bucks for your equipment to generate your electricity. So how long does it take to recover the cost? On the other hand, the power company buys the power from the homeowner at current fuel cost only, not the full retail price. The power company benefits by reselling your excess power to the other customers at a profit and they didn't have to spend a penny on production cost, which is what you the homeowner paid for your system. Oh, and BTW, I work for a power utility so I know how the economics of power works. And to those worried about the lineman getting electrocuted, don't worry, he grounds the system before working on it so even if the homeowner did not switch the transfer switch his generator or electric source will be grounded out from the system which will cause it to trip or disconnect. Cheers!
Ok for all of you that think this is illegal or what ever. Once that meter start's to turn backwards and feed power back to the grid, the power company has to pay you for it. As long as it is a viable push pack of electric. It will not cause you to get in-trouble or go to jail. Just a way of getting all the money back you spent on electric.
+d34thr3b0rn1 I heard they passed a law so they didn't have to buy back the excess power now, but they also won't allow you to disconnect from the grid. So they basically are getting your excess power for free, then charge others for it at regular rates.
Not that I have heard. You can go off grid if you wish here. They cant force you to use their meter's. but then again government is corrupt and you never know whats what
I was told years ago that the electric company doesn't have to buy the power back from you it's an option and they don't have to do it but I don't know if that's true
Why couldn't we just stop paying them, let them come out and disconnect us, then put in our own little solar system and hook it up to the breaker? I did that once with a generator.
Just wanted to let you guys know about what happened here in Australia a couple of yrs ago. 2 brothers ( one an electrician & the other a surfboard designer ) got the idea to create solar panels that were the same shape as roof tiles & they " interlocked" the same way - and built enough to cover their whole home which ran NOT JUST the house, but their workshop as well AND! - got credits off the local electricity company. - till the Government came around and threatened to condemn the place.
This is exactly correct and is normal behavior. If you have any electricity generating device (solar panel, gas generator, windmill) when it runs if it is past your meter and is first for usage, it will reduce grid consumption and the meter will slow down. If you produce more power than you use, the excess goes back to the grid and the meter runs backward. If you generate enough power that you generate more than you consume, when the electric company does settlements, then they send you a check for the power you generated. This is a requirement of federal law, that if you generate electricity yourself the utility has to buy it (probably at either the rate they pay or the rate they charge you.)
This guy currently has a solar panel system and/or a wind turbine system that's called "on grid". The system is tied into the lines that provide power from the electric company to his home. The meter is designed to spin backwards if his system's producing more power than his house is using. At night time, during dark hours, the meter spins forward, unless he has battery backup. I'm getting he same type solar panel system installed at my home. My system will actually produce all my electrical needs, PLUS 90% more, which I'll sell back to the electric company at the end of each year. The only issue... it takes money (up front) to make money.
This is unsafe. You are back energising the LV mains. You are supposed to isolate your installation by means of an approved transfer switch. Utility workers can be killed by what you are doing. Should it be ome necessary for them to isolate your transformer circuit to do any repairs your supply will back feed the transformer which will then step up your 230/115 supply to 12000 volts which will kill any linesman working on those mains. Seriously consider what you are doing and tell me how much money you can save will ever equate to the life of a linesman
Steve Dogan Power company turns off power to a powerline, your house still feeds its own power into it. Maintaince guy thinks the powerline is safe to work on and gets electrocuted. It isnt that difficult to understand what he is saying
Power companies pay for the power you feed back into the line. Or people use the power company as a battery. This set up is quite typical. Amd electricians generally dont ground themselves or turn of the neighborhoods power when working on power lines. The only time I turn off the power is when im home barefoot. Or when im looking at a mess I cant quite make out. Otherwise electricity doesn't just flow though you. You have to complete a connection. Try it. Grab a hot wire in the house( make sure you have rubber soles on and aren't touching anything else) guarantee you will not get zapped.
Cliff Charpentier Why the rubber soles then? I always thought that was a myth anyway. We were always told the thing on the farm about touching the fence with rubber soles on won't give you a shock. (Granted everyone's heard the story of not getting hit by lightning with rubber soles either. Correct me if I'm wrong but 1/4" of rubber is not going to stop a bolt with enough power to, as I was told by the physics H.S. teacher years back, light up N.Y.C. for about a month -especially on soaked ground.) But then Pa would always get mad if we put anything against the wire, like a stick, because he said he current would run through the wood stick in the ground and the fence wouldn't be charged. Don't those 2 things contradict each other? How does an electric pasture fence work when there's only 1 wire to touch anyway? Wouldn't there have to be 2 wires that were connected to the box inside that ran the fence?
+Bilbo Baggins That method works too, with "How to make a simple wireless?": Take a piece of carton, put two pieces of wires onto it; then take one wire away and you got a ..."wireless"!
Yes, but the solar panel setup will set you back, too! - Did you do your Math to work out how much you'll really save in say 10 years? (I heard, the panels last only about 10 years.)
alternativly you can drill a small hole under the machine, insert a hairclip with a hook that hooks onto the wheel, pull it down to stop the wheel turning, job done
Net metering is legal. You are putting power back on to the grid. But you are only selling it back at wholesale. You still have to pay the other costs since you are using their infrastructure to sell back to the grid. Like distribution/transmission charges, etc. You can install a solar panel to reduce your usage without any kind of agreement from the utility, but you won't get credit for power that goes on the grid unless you contact your utility and get a net metering agreement. It can go a long way in reducing your bill greatly, but you are still paying the "facilities" and a minimum bill in most cases.
I cheated the electric company by installing thousands of dollars of solar equipment! That is like cheating the car dealership by building your own car.
Drone On lol you live at home don't you?? a thousand dollars is like 10 or 11 months of an electric bill. so what that means is after ten months he is saving 100 every month. HOLD ON NOW THERE'S MORE TO THIS. now keep up little buddh I know your mind is about half blown but check this out, after ten months he is making a profit. he gets to keep that 100 dollars that would have went to the electric bill. now go on about your stupid day ya fuckin dumbass
GoldViolinFlutist To an extent yes, as in they will only ever credit your account and will never pay you a dollar amount but solar power to do that is very expensive. It is very unlikely one would be able to live off the electric companies grid but you can greatly reduce your bill if you're willing to fork out the money. $20,000-$30,000 will take several years to earn back.
TheGreatestKevlar huh? In about 4 -5 years it can pay for itself. you dont have to spend anything close to 20k lol. oh they will credit your account for overage you put back into the grid. actual check? not sure on that. there's more people off grid now that solar is getting cheaper to set up and even some places wind power is practical too!
+TheGreatestKevlar solar has become very cheap my whole set up was less than 5 k I do receive a monthly check for the power I push back into the grid it's not much but I make my own power and receive a check every month for between 300 to 500 bucks depending.
solar and wind power is a joke, a 200$ panel and if in full sunshine all day may charge a $ 100 deep cycle battery enough to light a few LED,S for about 20 hours, an avarge coffee pot requires 1,500 watts ,study ohm,s law and tell me wind and solar don't suk bigtime. unless you don't need anything around your house that runs on more than about 100 watts
We went from 250 300 dollars a month in the winters and 250 in the summer is to power companies paying me about a hundred bucks every month on average winter time 25. To 50
WOW ! Now that was simply spectacular. ......... And if stay at my dad's house for a year, just think of all the electricity I could cheat the power company out of. And if I had a Time Machine, I could go back in time before they had electricity and sell some of my Cheated power to the Indians for big wompom....
Just watched this in the UK...can't comment on if it's lawful or not,but surely showing the meter with all the details of the power company etc leaves you open to being checked up on.
On mine all I had to do was hit it like 5 times and it would stop did it for 4 months strait saved a shit load of money one morning I woke up went on side of my house to hit it and my electric company replaced my shit with a digital one cuz my bitch ass neighbor snatched I was like FUCK I would pay like 120 a month now cuz they did that I pay 460
+Marc Seguin your dont think power companies are monopolies ?? you dnt think they fkk us over because they know how DEPENDENT we are on electricity AND THEREFORE charge a ridiculous amount of money that the majority of Families see as excessive, you NOT ONLY dont say ANYTHING about that but argue fight n stik up for the monopolies that make the c.e.o.'s and executives filthy rich off of your n mine hard earned money. and you throw in there if you impede them from takin your- i mean charging you soo much, you are now subject to a potential trip to a FEDERAL PENITENTERY ... wow..yet you argue in favor of these monopolies that have a strangle hold on us and other companies that could bring competition meaning LOWER COST for this service...all i can say is ....wooooow
Marc Seguin im willing to bet you've also fallen victim to the need to abide by any laws placed in front of you like the little child you've grown into. each person in this country has the RIGHT to have his own means of security and stability. they do not have the RIGHT to force ANY U.S. CITIZEN to buy any PRODUCT OR SERVICE that she/he doesn't want to. it is LAW that if the power company is receiving power from a residential or commercial source, they have to pay for it. when you hook he solar panels up, power goes through your house and any excess is sent to the power company. its not free anything, its not STEALING ya fucking moron! get your facts straight, you democratic shit.
Marc Seguin oh and another thing, if you truly think politics is bullshit, then explain how they have an effect on almost every aspect of your PRIVILEDGE to be in this country where you have your life handed to you?
Ronboy Woodley ok fuck face... I don't vote!! and I don't have my life handed to me....what ever that means? I work like everyone else....and make good $$. to pay my bills every month ....and if you think that I follow all the laws.....you are sadly mistaken! like I said.. its assholes like this guy who make the electric rates go up...by stealing! read up on it sometime!! ,,cause I guess you are a repube-licken!..
nope. not republican! never will be! TEA PARTY RIGHT HERE! i stand by the constitution okay? I just cant stand the democratic party because they are practically enslaving people and they are following blindly just as Hitler convinced 6 million people do so (without fighting back, i might add..) and its not stealing for the last time! its called being paid for the energy that you save...youre giving back to the companies that steal from YOU. i don give any of my paycheck to the greedy companies that jack up the prices at their own accord. they dont care about you or how you live your life. they just want money. and who boasts about not following laws? dumbass..just by living in this country, you have been presented with limitless opportunities and options, so why succumb to these companies that only want one thing from you? im only trying to educate other citizens (like yourself) of the reality of the situation. 23 years in the USMC didnt make me as smart as i am for nothing.
Guy is a genius and most people can't figure it out. Has nothing to do with cheating nor the solar panel as much. It has to do with numbers... In this case over nearly 2 million views which equates to a large sum of money in his pockets. Most of you non-marketers just keep scratching your heads.
I believe that we are forgetting one big issue - the more you save on the bill the less taxes you pay Federal, State and Local. I seem to recall it may be 1/3 of your charges. If you are completely off the grid you pay no taxes on energy you generated and in addition you save on the monthly hook-up/maintenance charges. I'm not pro or con just adding something else to think about. If your home is all electric you would have no expense. Of course you would probably need wind and solar power to manage a whole house.
if you where paying attention he has solar panels and a second meter hook up selling what extra power he is not using to the power company with one meter showing what he has made and one showing what he had used
if my funds get a little better along with my moms im considering getting solar panels mounted to my moms house due to obama's plans my local utility company is raising its rates by 14 dollars a month in September 2015 unless that gets rejected over this gloal warming/climate change scam
I'm fast enough to recognise when I've got the wrong end of the stick and unlike most people who comment on youtube I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong. Insulting me because I made an honest mistake like Anni Macca has done shows us how unforgiving people are to mistakes and what immature actions they are willing to participate in just to make themselves feel better. Anni Macca either isn't old enough to participate in adult debate or is REALLY slow in maturing to adult-hood if this is the kind of reaction made. She hasn't even participated earlier in this thread.
who gives a fuck the only reason the world doesnt use wireless free tesla standing wave resonance technologyis bc of JP morgan you guys know about tesla right
More like who gives a fuck about your moronic comment. Yes we know about Tesla, probably a bit more than you do. Just because you don't give a "fuck" about free electricity and care more about trying to feel important and boost your ego by quoting some shred of some of Tesla's story, does in no way mean the rest of us are at your level of thinking. Your comment is like someone going to a shuttle launch and saying "who gives a fuck, did you know Chuck Yeager was a test pilot?" as if your input is more important than the actual event. This shows the world how you really are: sociopathic attention whore. Good job.
Good deal! The problem is A, the power companies TYPICALLY only pay you a fraction of what you pay them when you sell power back to them and B, IN GENERAL, the cost of solar panels, that TYPICALLY don't last all that long, is pretty insane. If it costs you 10k to install solar panels and relays etc it's going to take a VERY long time to break even on cost and 10k is probably VERY low in many places. Just in other comments I've read it can be around 30k to install a solar system. If you're really sharp and can build your own solar panels, use generic inexpensive relays and negotiate a fair rate for the juice you sell back to the power company, I can totally see myself doing this.
+jaded16340 It's kinda like the biodiesel thing. I had a diesel powered truck, a fuel oil furnace in my shop, a fuel oil space heater in the basement and was planning on building a boiler assist system to heat the house. I built a 4 stage biodiesel processor and could make about 45 gallons per night if I had the oil, the methanol and the lye. The cost of electricity to process it was pretty negligible so we're talking pennies here. The problem was suddenly bars and restaurants that used to be happy that I was taking the oil they were having to pay for got greedy and started wanting to charge me for the privilege of scooping the nasty shit from their grease bin. In order to get 40+ gallons of oil per day I would have to use most of what I was processing to travel all over town to get the oil to make the biodiesel so I could use most of it up getting the oil etc. The system was cheap, about 500 bucks, but pretty labor intensive. NEXT the state started going have BD home brewers because they were not paying the road tax they'd be paying had they been buying their fuel out of the pump. I was already barely breaking even on cost, working my ass off and now they're going to fine me for trying to save a buck? Eff that! The moral of the story is, there's just not beating the system. If you sell juice back to the power company it's income and you have to pay taxes on it. Solar panels don't last all that long and are pretty damn expensive. Biodiesel is a huge pain in the ass and a huge mess to process, the oil is getting hard to get in quantities necessary to bother with and you're going to use a lot of fuel collecting the oil. It's like trying to make a living collecting scrap. The cost of scrap metal is so low you're going to pay to haul it in. There is no beating the system in reality. Just be efficient, watch your bill for overcharges and deal with it.
+jaded16340 The other intended consequence of biodiesel they're mowing down the rain forests to plant palm oil plants. The plants totally deplete the soil so nothing will grow there for a long time and without the rain forests we won't have oxygen. So BD really only works as a "green energy" if you're using USED oil. Ethanol is another scam. The corn farmers make more selling it for ethanol production than the food makers can pay so the cost of food has gone up. Darn near everything we eat either has corn in it or is used in it's production. And then the pricks "denature" it by adding a little gas so you can't even buy your vodka at the pump! Rotten bastards! LOL Actually that is why they do that. There's no lead in gas anymore so there's no purpose for the gas in the ethanol other than to make it un-drinkable.
I clicked "dislike" for the use of the word "cheat" in the title. If you were really cheating anyone, I would want you caught and prosecuted. And since you're not really cheating, just selling power back, it's a totally inappropriate word to use. It gives viewers the wrong expectation. Everyone is completely within their right to take their house off the grid. You are not required to buy power from the utility. You can roll your own. Whether you can sell it back to the local utility and at what rate is subject to local regulations.
It is however common knowledge that "cheating the system (electric co., Gas co., phone co., etc. etc.) is a figure of speech. Been used since the utility companies changed from a service to the monopoly mode. People certainly desrve the right to use this figure of speech while being proud that they, the monopolized utilty co. (which has made millionaires since before the term billionaire did not even exist). You do understand that they , have to buy back the excess juice you produce right? Saying we are cheating them, when we are finally getting some justice as opposed to say driving your manure spreader to their office and giving them a barricade of shit to get in and out of the place through is a well desrved and common right to the people everywhere. Your views, and knowledge are not everyone's. Maybe climb up your bosses as instead of look for things this petty on yt to try and set someone straight. You don't know quite everything.
Rampant7990 I never claimed to know everything. I've never heard the phrase "cheat the system," though the similar "beat the system" is both very common and much more applicable in this case, without carrying the implication of wrongdoing. Whether the utility is required to purchase a producer's excess power is up for some debate. You are not required to purchase the power they provide, I believe that that deniability must go both ways. The rest of your message is just errant foolishness. You ascribe philosophies to me that I neither espouse nor support. As to the baloney regarding the manure spreader, what you do with your manure spreader is your choice. If you are at all dissatisfied with the utility's product or pricing, you know what to do: disconnect and do better for yourself. THAT's freedom and a common right to everyone. Think twice before making foolish comments. Say something stupid and I will call you on it.
elhigh Cheating the system, beating the system are pretty much the same in this particular sense, however, cheating on a game is not the same as beating a game. I personally call this, "pay backs" in all of it's literal meaning.
***** Got an email saying "police yourself" and I was like what? Then I realized you are probably talking to MrEvilpeopledotco and thought, dang right, what he said, lol.
Free enterprise is the key to America, not mega conglomerates/corporations. When a company eliminates it's competitors then its bad for everyone(nation and citizen). Why ? Because they(corporations) can set prices at whatever they(the company) wants and no one can compete against them. One word - Ma Bell. The key(to a great company) is to be able to set a reasonable and fair price for a quality product. Greed and gluttony is not the answer. If more people would stop and think about what they are buying RATHER than just settling for whats at the moment OR have their purchasing terms dictated by a CREDIT SCORE. just saying.
Do you get power rebates from the electric company? Also, what panels are you using? Are the stationary or tracker panels? I'm doing research in order to get off the grid (my juice bill per month is $300 max). Thanks for the post and any info!
the solar power is cleaner from micro-surging - but will your appliances like the amp and volt drops when it gets cloudy or will they burn out faster from stressing the motors?
i know someone who would hit the front glass with the side of his fist fairly hard a few times, it would make the gears intertwine and the rotor would stop literally. a couple days before the meter reader came he would tap it to make it start turning again and wait a few days after to stop it. lol it literally works. he went from about $125 a month to $20 a month on his electric bill.
Some states power companies send you a quarterly check for sending the extra energy you generate back to them when you use other forms of energy producing methods.
Not cheating at all. Just means you're solar is creating more energy than you're using and the excess is being sucked into the power grid. The power company will credit your account. Great way to beat the cost of winter heating.
Hi this is so cool what is the process that u use too get the meter going in reverse I will teach my kids as nothing is getting any cheaper thanks TONY
Drill a pin size hole underneath it & slide up a piece of wire until it touched the meter & stops it from spinning around . Hold the wire in place with bluetac. Only have the wire in between 6pm & 6 am to ensure you don't get busted. Leave it in all weekend & public holiday. The power company never pays its meter readers penalty rates so they are 9-5pm. Put a bit of Greece around the hole for extra stealth. Then put the heaters on high & open the windows.
can you tell us how much the solar grids cost and how much you get from the power company in one month? further what maintenance do you do and at what cost?
This is great I love solar power. for a while in Texas there was an electric company that would put solar panels on your roof at no cost to you they just wanted the extra power. But there was a lot of stipulations with that and if your roof wasn't big enough they would fill your yard with panels if you had one. But anyway still a great way to go.
You don't think the Electric Company are going to wonder why your Meter readings are going down instead of up? or that your seemingly not using any Electric? What Planet are you on?
+Elek Ekberg If your electricity-supply meter runs backwards, it will show a false low reading - leading to an inaccurate bill. Some meters have even been showing negative readings, leaving households in credit. Because of this financial advantage, some households may have been tempted to stay quiet about the problem, getting free electricity on top of the savings they are making from their feed-in tariff. Others have wrongly thought that their meters are supposed to go backwards from having solar PV. If this happens to lots of customers, then a large amount of electricity is being, or has been, consumed for free - often unknowingly. This might potentially lead to increases in electricity costs if suppliers seek to make up for unplanned losses. What's more, solar PV customers, many of whom have been unaware that their meters are running backwards, are sometimes being landed with unexpected electricity bills retrospectively once their supplier finds out that their meter is going backwards. The bill is worked out from an estimation of what their usage would have been if their meter had been working properly...no such thing as a free lunch, UNLESS you go OFF THE GRID.
Grid tie systems are awesome but only when there is sun. You're still pulling power from the grid at night and during days of inclement weather. You could go 4 or more days straight having to pull power from the grid though, depending on weather. There are a lot of companies out there that will install the panels on your roof and allow you to enjoy the free power, just not ownership of them.
This is not cheating, you producing power, thats legal, but as a safety measure you want to tell the power company that you are doing this so that linesman working on the lines don't get a surprise if they are doing repairs. I think they have a relay box that senses power outages, and removes you from the grid. I'm basing this on I heard one of the guys say SOLAR ! .. YOU can do this with a small gas engine and a small electric motor it will turn the e-motor into a alternator . good job guys !
During college these guys in Hammond La.used to somehow reverse and turn the electric meter glass enclosure upsidedown in order to reverse the direction the meter spun to steal electric power
I seen this before and watched it again what size of power for this 5kw solar array, that fast seems maybe be allot larger . I only have peak at this time 2kw and hoping to make larger Nice Video Thanks
As has been pointed out, this is NOT cheating the power company,as that is a crime.. The biggest problem with solar is the cost and the miserable rate of return on investment as is wind and other types of alternative energies so far. I invented a new type of rotary engine that runs at over 85% efficiency to make power for homes and small business. Its not free like solar and wind, and I lease the units (started my own power company)I netmeter the unused power to the local power co.(cheat that)
@ P Nelson. ABB is the brand of the meter.... The bottom faceplate is the Utility company name and the serial number. It clearly says Nevada Power Co, The bottom faceplate is replaceable by two screws. The top faceplate is riveted and permanent.
Looks like a smart meter which the information goes directly back to the electricity board. This is how they read your meter. Surely they'll be able to see what's going on.
the arrays had 10 panels each, with two arrays on moving platforms. the guy that had them is an electrical engineer so he got a deal fro the company he works for (i don't know what company) so he payed about 20k for the setup. and he powers his house and the grid making 14k minimum each year for having it. not to mention these things are huge. now i don't know if everything he said was true of if he was stretching the truth. i just wanted to give my two cents.
The meter might seem to run backwards but does the dials as well?, because if they may still be move forward if they're One Directional meters. If it is then it's like the Grid Company is screwing you TWICE.
How much did you spend on your setup do you have battery backup or is it directly wired into your Nevada system? My electricity was over $400 last month with NV energy in a 2 bedroom condo
Kieran Ram ! You are correct I was only an journeyman's helper and long story short my co-worker and friend died because of someone doing the same.however most electric companies are just outrageous in their charges ! They are outright thieves period.
What is the monthly payment to the solar company that installed the panels? If you paid for them up front you will never recoup your investment, in 20 years you will need new solar panels.
You need a "Net" digital meter if you plan on putting power back onto the grid with a newer system. They will count down when there is a net power flow out of the home.
Exactly, power companies love you to have solar power... They get to sell the power you generate and they don't have to buy fuel or additional equipment to do it.
So could selling power back to the power company be a more practical alternative to storing power in batteries to use at night, or other times when solar power is ineffective?
I don't know a whole lot about solar systems. How do you feed the grid at night with solar? Do you charge a storage battery during the day for night use?
It depends on the power company... Some will pay you retail for every KwH you put into the grid. If you put in more than you need, you don't get money back, you just get a $0 electrical bill and the power company gets free power. If you don't put in as much as you need, you pay retail for the difference. So, if you install solar, you could certainly end up with the power company paying your $600-$800 bill. If you don't provide enough electricity for your needs, you pay like everyone else. WinWin
I wish i had the money to afford to put panels on my house. Very expensive up front cost and takes 1 to 2 years to make any profit. Great investment if you have the money.
When power goes to a customer, the meter counts upwards in kilowatt hours, so they know what to charge the customer. When using a solar panel like this one, which is producing more power than the customer uses, the power meter measures the power going the other way. So essentially he isn't cheater the buyer company, but actually selling the excess electricity to them.
Heck all I did was invest in the utility company long ago in my Roth 401k/IRA. My electric bill average $50/mo. But my dividends from the electric utility stock is $1400/mo. without ever touching my meter. Same with natural gas owning several thousand shares of shares of Oneok and OneGas.
If you create your own electricity is not called stealing its called producing ;)
A friend of a friend of mine has a big piece if land, about 300 acres, and he started out with a few solar panels that powered his whole house, then he invested in a couple more to sell energy back to the power company, and with the money from that, he just reinvests into more panels, and now he's got a solar farm.
bullshit
+Randomsongs actually if you have enough power going into to your house the left over goes back into the power lines and yes the power company has to pay you for that electricity you put into their lines. It was due to a law passed in the 80s requiring power companies to pay you for electricity you made. Most often it is wind generators that cause the power companies to pay out not solar panels though.
+Todd Stanley å
+Randomsongs ... that moment you show to all internet, how huge is your ignorance! God bless it... :)
A few panels powering an entire house? Right.
Not particularly, no. The power plants are necessary to support a city, as well as the industrial arcology of a nation.
No one is disputing that, Wesley!
I'm a Power Lineman and I can tell you people run their own generators and sell excess power back to the Utilities all the time.
If you wanna save on your electric bill,,,turn off all lights,,the heater,, the AC,,unplug all electronics cook outside on a camp fire,,,and after 2 weeks you`ll see a big difference in your bill
Lol 🤣🤣
I'm told that I am still paying to have Hot water but do without to pay the Bill. They are still charging me ,so how can I have hot water.
LOL!!!!!
Now this is a solution, more than just thrashing on others ideas. Good setup you've got..
Now this is awesome i love your setup wish i could do this for my house
"your bad" for assuming he was going to show an illegal way to do it *shrug*
His title gets more clicks.
It's called.......wait for it....
MARKETING 🤷♂️
lol
Well, you have solar panels, right? I don't think it could work without the solar panels.
yes, but how much did it cost you to “Cheat“ the Electric Company Out of Power?
If you remove the meter and plug it in upside down... it will run backwards too. Backwards one day equals two days with no electric. You don't want to run it backwards past the last reading; that would be kind of a dead giveaway. I knew a guy who did this... he'll be out soon.
We have J.P Morgan to thank for metered electricity. If Tesla was successful, we'd all have free electricity. Or... if one can down-convert the High Frequency/High Voltage that is all around us, one can have free electricity too.
We were making good progress on this back in the early 50's until the government clampdown.
Hopefully.
If everyone could get free electricity from the power plant why would anyone build one. And how would the plant pay for maintenance, labor and fuel.
suckmyassloser The money that Congress gets for insurance and their own retirement would pay for that. They don't need special treatment.
(Part-2)
So for a dual setup, you wouldn't be paying sewer fees for the well water used. There may be local rules or laws against it.
As far as "pushing" your excess well water into the "water grid", theoretically, it would work the same, but it's probably illegal because water you try to "push" back into the "grid" could be contaminated with bacteria or chemicals. They may even be able to detect reversed water flow and shut it off before it got into the public system.
good work, i have a modern system generating power. my usage is a lot higher then power generated, however if i turn off all appliances in house i end-up with same as your video. that tells me i need more panels to generate more power. or better efficiency from my panels. keep up the good work, we love your video and love to support free energy generation. you are not doing anything or robbing anyone. . . have no fear!
you're not cheating anyone doing this. you should be getting a refund back if you supply power back to the grid.
Yeah, if you generate more power thany you use, you get refunded.
Cheers!
As a former generation supervisor, lead CRO...I can't believe how people blow money on this stuff...the economics don't add up
I pay 780 lease payment to save my self about 1400 a year.
No idiot the power company paid for half. Of course it’s going to pay for itself over time
simple just put two magnets 🧲
@@0annonymous We all need to start producing our own power and put these criminal corporations out of business!
I wanna know how you got my social security number on ur power meter lol
Nah yours is different
Nope it the same . But it is the poor saps identity info as a secondary redundant credit source
Jonny B
What dude
Why would you say that? now everyone has your name and social security number jack ass. And people wonder how their identity was stolen. Lol! Idiot
Could you put what you wrote there in English? It sounds interesting, but I'm the kind that's lucky they don't blow something up turning it on! :)
Steve Dogan Power company turns off power to a powerline, your house still feeds its own power into it. Maintaince guy thinks the powerline is safe to work on and gets electrocuted. It isnt that difficult to understand what he is saying
Not difficult for some, but as I said, I'm the kind that's lucky they don't blow a fuse changing a bulb. :)
How to cut your electricity bill in half. Simple - use a pair of scissors. :P
😂😂👍
+Bilbo Baggins That method works too, with "How to make a simple wireless?": Take a piece of carton, put two pieces of wires onto it; then take one wire away and you got a ..."wireless"!
+Bilbo Baggins lol, jokes aside, the wires that come into the house are no joke, and require bolt cutters ;)
+Bilbo Baggins "power companies hate this trick" XD
Yep. Only an idiot would pay $30,000 to get solar installed. It would never pay for it's self.
What do you think it cost to install that $100?
cooldog60 lol you're stupid
Robert Kittinger
Sounds like you are the stupid one.
If he is using solar power to power his home and the meter does this, does that mean he is selling power back to the power company?
GoldViolinFlutist Yes
TheGreatestKevlar b
GO ECO
it seems we have a bloody DEMOCRAT in our midst, gentlemen!!!
shut up bitch
fuck off kid.
How much did your entire solar grid cost you?
total... 17k
+EQDruid How many years did It take you to recoup that 17K?
+Bushidobull saved about 300 a month in bills... so 4 years give or take. 30 year life span on solar panels.
You can get a newer solar system now on www.owntheswitch.com/solar247 for less
that website is a scam. BEWARE!!!
+Marc Seguin
your dont think power companies are monopolies ?? you dnt think they fkk us over because they know how DEPENDENT we are on electricity AND THEREFORE charge a ridiculous amount of money that the majority of Families see as excessive, you NOT ONLY dont say ANYTHING about that but argue fight n stik up for the monopolies that make the c.e.o.'s and executives filthy rich off of your n mine hard earned money.
and you throw in there if you impede them from takin your- i mean charging you soo much, you are now subject to a potential trip to a FEDERAL PENITENTERY ... wow..yet you argue in favor of these monopolies that have a strangle hold on us and other companies that could bring competition meaning LOWER COST for this service...all i can say is ....wooooow
Tino Detres are u included? Since u visited his video as well!
I have a 10KW solar array on my shop, power company now pays me $600-$800 per month. Gotta love it. :-)
It's not going to be so cool when your electric company find your current reading to be lower than your last one.
if you where paying attention he has solar panels and a second meter hook up selling what extra power he is not using to the power company with one meter showing what he has made and one showing what he had used
Right, got it! Thanks for putting me straight on that one.
if my funds get a little better along with my moms im considering getting solar panels mounted to my moms house due to obama's plans my local utility company is raising its rates by 14 dollars a month in September 2015 unless that gets rejected over this gloal warming/climate change scam
kamran obviously you as slow as rusty, never mind perhaps it will click soon?
I'm fast enough to recognise when I've got the wrong end of the stick and unlike most people who comment on youtube I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong. Insulting me because I made an honest mistake like Anni Macca has done shows us how unforgiving people are to mistakes and what immature actions they are willing to participate in just to make themselves feel better. Anni Macca either isn't old enough to participate in adult debate or is REALLY slow in maturing to adult-hood if this is the kind of reaction made. She hasn't even participated earlier in this thread.
All your doing is putting power back in the grid. How is that cheating?
who gives a fuck the only reason the world doesnt use wireless free tesla standing wave resonance technologyis bc of JP morgan you guys know about tesla right
More like who gives a fuck about your moronic comment.
Good job.
JP Morgan, and because it cost tons of money to power it.
It wasn't because it cost lots of money to power it. He shut it down because couldn't put a meter on it and making money off of it.
actually its more about no killing everything
RUclips AT THE REQUEST OF POWER COMPANIES WOULD OF TAKEN THIS VIDEO DOWN ASAP IF THEY ACTUALLY CHEATED
I personally call this, "pay backs" in all of it's literal meaning.
so i can get PAID by the electric Co. by producing my own power and feeding it backwards through the power cables attached to my house? FUCK YEAH
***** Got an email saying "police yourself" and I was like what? Then I realized you are probably talking to MrEvilpeopledotco and thought, dang right, what he said, lol.
Stealing is a crime.
corporate america is a crime.
He's using solar and putting energy into the grid. Therefore the meter is spinning backwards.
Pilot924 yeh that i know he is trying to make you think he is cheating but he is not lol
Troy Nall What do you suggest? If it were not for corporate America then there would be no jobs. Fool!
Some states power companies send you a quarterly check for sending the extra energy you generate back to them when you use other forms of energy producing methods.
where did you get your solar? would you change anything? whats the best thing you learned besides saving money? im looking to buy one
Then put the heaters on high & open the windows.
that's you giving the energy. you should get a check in the mail from your electric company
can you tell us how much the solar grids cost and how much you get from the power company in one month? further what maintenance do you do and at what cost?
This is great I love solar power. for a while in Texas there was an electric company that would put solar panels on your roof at no cost to you they just wanted the extra power. But there was a lot of stipulations with that and if your roof wasn't big enough they would fill your yard with panels if you had one. But anyway still a great way to go.
You don't think the Electric Company are going to wonder why your Meter readings are going down instead of up? or that your seemingly not using any Electric? What Planet are you on?
Solar morons. .
EQDruid WHAT are you Banging On about????
+Elek Ekberg it douse that when you make your own power and the have to pay you.
daniel horowski I don't understand it tbh O_O
+Elek Ekberg If your electricity-supply meter runs backwards, it will show a false
low reading - leading to an inaccurate bill. Some meters have even been
showing negative readings, leaving households in credit. Because of this
financial advantage, some households may have been tempted to stay
quiet about the problem, getting free electricity on top of the savings
they are making from their feed-in tariff. What's more, solar PV customers, many of whom have been unaware that their
meters are running backwards, are sometimes being landed with unexpected
electricity bills retrospectively once their supplier finds out that their meter is going backwards.
Cool dude. Can you comment on how many solar panels you're using? And the number of household appliances?
Thanks for posting it
This is not cheating, you producing power, thats legal, but as a safety measure you want to tell the power company that you are doing this so that linesman working on the lines don't get a surprise if they are doing repairs.
I only have peak at this time 2kw and hoping to make larger
Nice Video
Thanks
Nice serial number on the meter. Now they know who exactly who you are. Expect a black out.
That's great. how about some vid of your system?
You are giving them more power than they were selling.
the arrays had 10 panels each, with two arrays on moving platforms. the guy that had them is an electrical engineer so he got a deal fro the company he works for (i don't know what company) so he payed about 20k for the setup. and he powers his house and the grid making 14k minimum each year for having it. not to mention these things are huge. now i don't know if everything he said was true of if he was stretching the truth. i just wanted to give my two cents.
And how much time and $ did you spend to save the money?
thanks for sharing, these companies have no feeling why should you.
Not bad. Not bad at all. That's my dream setup.
Does that trick works on digital electric meter? Most old mechanical electric meter are now replaced by digital.
Kieran Ram ! You are correct I was only an journeyman's helper and long story short my co-worker and friend died because of someone doing the same.however most electric companies are just outrageous in their charges ! They are outright thieves period.
You just joined today son. So it looks like you're trying to impersonate an officer to me.
What is the monthly payment to the solar company that installed the panels? If you paid for them up front you will never recoup your investment, in 20 years you will need new solar panels.
I just had company out here in SW Fla 25 k for 1900 sq ft home OUTRAGEOUS ~!
Brilliant! THE CONSUMER FIGHTS BACK! HOW DO YOU EVADE BING CAUGHT?
You're not cheating them out of power, your putting your extra power that you've generated off your solar back into the grid
This is great! Are you pumping electricity back into the grid and getting a rebate from the electric company??
You need a "Net" digital meter if you plan on putting power back onto the grid with a newer system. They will count down when there is a net power flow out of the home.
Exactly, power companies love you to have solar power...
They get to sell the power you generate and they don't have to buy fuel or additional equipment to do it.
Great job! I am definitely going to plan a move in this direction! Thanks for posting. :)
The power companies have been changing those analog meters to digital ones, does this work with the digital meters as well?
Well selling power back to the grid is at WHOLESALE price but the residents buy it at retail. So the resident isn't scamming the power company.
So could selling power back to the power company be a more practical alternative to storing power in batteries to use at night, or other times when solar power is ineffective?
what Kw is your panel array and how many panels.. I am looking at a 36 panel system that is a 10.26Kw . should producr about 1400 KwH per month.
I don't know if you can 'cheat' the elec co out of money but using wind and solar will do the trick. Missouri wind and solar has some great stuff.
So Cool ! such big solar camp ...
we used to take the glass off and tighten the nuts so tight and it would slow down
How much did it cost to put in the solar panels? How many panels do you have and where did you get them from?
I don't know a whole lot about solar systems. How do you feed the grid at night with solar? Do you charge a storage battery during the day for night use?
It depends on the power company... Some will pay you retail for every KwH you put into the grid. If you put in more than you need, you don't get money back, you just get a $0 electrical bill and the power company gets free power. If you don't put in as much as you need, you pay retail for the difference. So, if you install solar, you could certainly end up with the power company paying your $600-$800 bill. If you don't provide enough electricity for your needs, you pay like everyone else. WinWin
Since the power company is now using your smart meter to asses your power usage, will that meter go in reverse to allow for a credit or not....?
how big of a system do you have to have that you produce an excess so much that they should be paying you?
I wish i had the money to afford to put panels on my house. Very expensive up front cost and takes 1 to 2 years to make any profit. Great investment if you have the money.
When power goes to a customer, the meter counts upwards in kilowatt hours, so they know what to charge the customer. When using a solar panel like this one, which is producing more power than the customer uses, the power meter measures the power going the other way. So essentially he isn't cheater the buyer company, but actually selling the excess electricity to them.
so now with the smart meter are you still saving money and if so how much?
The only thing that fascinates me about this is the fact that it actually runs backwards, lol i didn't know they do that.
What was the total cost for the solar system? Thinking about adding a system when I build my house.
